The Demon Child - Awakening

Chapter 44 - 44 - Past antics

"How do you know that name? I haven't been called that since…since,"

"Since the war ten thousand years ago, does the name Shinri ring any bells?" I then picked my lips up and put it into a slight smile.

Alicia then dashed towards me and tried to pierce my stomach, and unlike last time, I just allowed it. My stomach was left in ruins and I looked at Alicia with a slight smile, looking deep into her eyes.

"Something the soul of that dark elf taught me, tell me, does my body feel cold?"

Alicia jumped back, removing her hand from my body and looked at it. As I expected, her skin was frozen. I ran at Alicia, before touching her hand, making cracks go through her skin. I put my feet on Alicia and jumped back.

I looked at her with courage in my eyes and a slight smile on my face. Alicia then took a look at my stomach again and saw that it was beginning to close up, she looked at me, confused. I looked around and saw that the fog that surrounded the lake began to slow down its movement like time was slowing down itself.

Concerned, I looked back to Rowans' still body and saw that Kirigaya was standing there. I turned back to Alicia to see that her face was in utter shock. Kirigaya waved at her with his left hand and a smile on his face.

Alicia, even faster than before ran to Kirigaya and tried to attack him, except that Alicia began to slow down in stopped time. Kirigaya slowly moved out of the way and touched Alicia on the back with his finger.

Kirigaya then clapped his hands and Alicia fell to the ground. I looked in awe, Kirigaya, a spirit of the time, old as time itself, just made Alicia fall to the floor. He then looked at me with unpleasant eyes, I just looked at him back not blinking.

"So Alicia, it's been a thousand years since we last met,"

"And you keep jumping from body to body, just like the horrible spirit you are,"

"Excuse me, Kirigaya, Alicia, but the reason I brought you here together is for me, not you," I replied.

"Of course Dyestral, what would you like to ask of me," Kirigaya responded, floating towards me.

"It's about how you were able to spout such nonsense in front of me, even relaying it through Rowan, the only people who know that Alicia is here are you and I, so I'll ask, why did you relay that information through Rowan?"

"Dyestral, you know that I'm a man of my time-"

"Hilarious joke," I interrupted him.

"But what you don't know is that I can sense the time in others as well, and Rowan, he doesn't have long to live,"

I began to tremble, lightning began to crackle around me. Rowan was going to die soon, yes I haven't spent a lot of time with him, but he was my only friend in this estate, not counting Jododam of course. My lightning didn't last long after I calmed myself and asked him my next question.

"Why are you telling me this then?"

"Because that will be a turning point within history today, Rowan and I have seen into the future and looked at your fate, you will partially decide what will happen, this change everything for a century at least,"

"So about Rowan, one last question," I tightened my fist's. "Does he die naturally?"

Kirigaya just floated there, unresponsive for a short time, before speaking again. "No, he dies in the hands of someone you know, yourself,"

I just stood there again, controlling my inner body, trying not to freeze the lake that was behind me. "So… I murder one of the only people that I trust?"

"You'll have to see, but it seems that my time is up, Kinsel is happening again,"

"I see... Jododam, is there anything else I should know?"

"You'll just have to wait and see." Jododam faded into nothingness as the slight colours of the lake returned to me. I then realized that Alicia was pummeled to the floor by some sort of force that Kirigaya used onto her.

I jumped and landed right next to Alicia who was now getting up. She looked at me with angry eyes, and I copied her expression. Alicia looked back down again and began to laugh at something.

"What's so funny?" I asked her.

"It's been so long since I thought about her, the woman who tore off my wings, made me immortal in every means,"

"Why did you remember Shinri, is it because I mentioned it,"

"That, and your body,"

I just stood there confused.

"It seems that she didn't share those stories, you froze your body until you couldn't handle it anymore, you then partially turn yourself into lightning and almost seem that you teleport,"

"Although the side effects are damage to the body even I can't heal in a day,"

"Shinri also had the advanced source of ice and heat,"

"But elves?"

"She's a dark elf, it didn't matter to them what impure blood had. She would freeze her arms and heat it with her other source, creating waves of intense heat and pressure, I had seen that before, it's horrifying,"

I offered my hand to Alicia and she took it, I was beginning to pull her up.

"You heard what Kirigaya was talking about, it might be a while until I see you again, in a week I'll be leaving,"

"It's fine Dyne, or Dyestral as they call you now,"

"Listen, you heard what Kirigaya was saying, I'm afraid this may be our final meeting for a while,"

"I've been alone years, it's not like a few months will harm me,"

"I hope not as well,"

"But when you need me, I'll be leaving, so when that time comes, make sure its the right time,"

"I will."

I picked Rowan up from the ground and said goodbye to the being who was a major stepping stone for my rise to power. I smiled and began to run through my pathway. At an even faster rate, I escaped the dead trees and found Rowan's room and put him to bed. I then walked back and got the book I was reading before heading to Jododams room and sat down next to the fire present.

I opened the book and in utter silence, and began to read.
