The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 175: So I Just Said It.

Lake Island, the royal palace.

Shien finally came back once again. After showing the knights guarding the gates the pendant that Lucy gave him, the knights respectfully welcomed him in.

Only, the entire way, Shien had a bunch of packages of various sizes hanging off of him. He looked just like a guy who just finished accompanying his girlfriend in shopping, and a lot of the knights and officials he passed by gave him strange looks.

It was instead the well dressed nobles who, after spotting Shien, started whispering.

"Is that the man…?"

"Ah, yeah, that's him…"

Conversations like that would periodically happen among those nobles, signifying the fact that they've recognized Shien.

Of course, after recognizing him, some people gave him unkindly looks. There were even those among them who wanted to block Shien's way.

Unfortunately for them, they didn't realize that Shien had already seen through them. Shien quietly grumbled at the cliché, but he didn't really have time to waste accompanying those young noblemen in the usual scenarios, so when he saw that they were about to intercept him, Shien just took a few pebbles in hand and started flicking away.

"Ah!"

"Gah!"

"Ouch…"

Thus, those young noblemen who were trying to make trouble for Shien all yelped in pain before dropping to the ground. Some were hit in the knee, while others were struck in the belly. There were even a few particularly arrogant looking fellows who got hit in the crotch, making them cry for their mommies while rolling on the ground in pain.

Thus, Shien just crushed all the normal clichés right in their cradles. He just headed to the princess's room without wasting any time on showing up those nobles.

When Shien arrived, it was still just like last time, filled with simps.

Those simps obviously recognized Shien as well. Each and ever one of them had unkindly looks on their faces. And of course, in the end, aside from the ones that were just hanging back to watch, every one of them ended up falling on the floor, clutching at their crotch, crying in pain.

The whole scene made all those noblemen who were planning on sneering, jeering, and watching the whole thing scared stiff. Their faces were pale, their legs were kept tightly crossed, and their reaction toward Shien filled with utter terror.

Then Shien purposefully took preemptive action to avoid those young nobles trying to make trouble for him using their ranks as an excuse and spoke.

"I'm an adventurer who was given an important task by the princess. If you want to waste my time, then make sure to have prepared yourself for being questioned by the princess!"

Shien once again used his well practiced scapegoating skill and tossed all the blame onto Lucy.

Of course, this had to be done.

After all, the reason that Shien came here and met all these troubles was all because of that princess in the first place.

Given that, it's only natural for her to take responsibility for it.

Just like that, all those young noblemen who were still plotting were checkmated. None of them dared to move against Shien anymore.

They might be able to do as they like against Shien, but if Shien really was given an important task by the princess and they ended up ruining it, then the princess's opinion of them was sure to drop drastically.

They're not going to do something so disadvantageous to themselves.

Thus, those noblemen could only look among each other before finally just helplessly watch with ugly expressions on their faces as Shien enter Lucy's room.

All they could do was comfort themselves like so.

"So that guy's only received a secret and important task fro the princess. That's the only reason he got closer to the princess, right?"

"Must be."

"I knew that her highness Lucilosti wouldn't notice a mere adventurer."

"Now the truth is out."

Those noblemen started chatting about like so.

"In that case, when that quest is done, that guy will end up being dropped back to how things originally was, right?"

"Definitely."

"Let see if he dares to act so conceited then."

"Yeah."

Envious conversations like that continued on in the hall there.

What they didn't know though was that at his moment, in Lucy's room, a scene that could make them explode with rage was taking place.

"Give it to me!"

That's the first words out of Lucy's mouth when she saw Shien enter.

And she was staying that with shining and slightly bloodshot eyes at that.

Shien's mouth twitched.

"I was originally planning on giving it to you, but now I'm regretting it."

Shien immediately said such heartless words.

"No! You have to give it to me!" Lucy spoke definitively, "You left me on my own here and ignored me for so long. Now that you've finally come to see me, but you're refusing to give it to me? That's terrible of you!"

"So what if it's terrible of me!" Shien spoke coldly, "I've already had enough of you anyways. How about we just get divorced then!"

"You…!" Lucy's eyes widened with a disbelieving look on her face.

Shien on the other hand acted like his heart was set, much like a heartless scoundrel.

The two of them just faced each other like that and stared off, either willing to admit defeat.

After a little while later…

"What do you mean by divorce?" Lucy finally couldn't help but finally comment, "It's not like I've married you, right?"

"Yeah." Shien nodded before continuing without a hint of shame, "But it felt fitting for the atmosphere just now, so I just said it."

"What atmosphere?" Lucy was the one complaining now, "I was just telling you to give me the desserts. What kind of atmosphere could that create?"

"Can't it?" Shien gave her a bright smile and replied, "Your wording's rather nice though. I quite liked it, so I'll be repeating those words. So I just said it."

"The heck are you saying!" Lucy punched at Shien's chest before extending her pretty little hand, "Alright, give it to me already. I really never thought that you'd bring me Lillet's desserts as a gift. Their desserts are my favorite after all. Since you did bring me them, I'll forgive you for not coming to see me for so long!"

"You think I've brought them just for you? Don't be conceited. I just happened to get them on the way. It was just a coincidence." Shien looked down at Lucy as he started questioning, "Speaking of, how did you even know that I brought you favorite desserts?"

"Of course it's via the scent!" Lucy spoke, full of energy, "I can smell Lillet's desserts so long as they're within a hundred meters of me!"

"Are you a dog?"

This time it was Shien's turn to comment on it.

"Stop wasting time already! Give it to me already!"

Lucy had already gotten impatient and pounced upon Shien.

"Wait! I'll give it already! Stop it with the grabbing!" Shien yelped.

"Quickly! Stop dragging it out!"

Lucy was dissatisfied.

The two of them ended up tangled up in a heap.

This scene could definitely make those noblemen outside cry tears of blood.
