The Devil's Bride

Embracing each other on their round bed with Kathleen laying on top of Kael facing him, Kael let his wings covered his wife's back, letting her feel the warmth of it. They were enjoying their moments together in silence, without saying anything but feeling each other presence.

Suddenly, the strike of thunder and lightning broke their peaceful moment, and sounds of werewolves howling can be heard around the forest area. It sounds horrifying to Kathleen that she shivered.

Hugging her tighter, Kael embrace her to soothe her fear.

"Kathleen my wife, I need to check on the werewolves, something might happen if they howl like that. But I need you to calm down, you are safe here, there's nothing for you to fear. I will call Clause to guard you and Lauren to accompany you here", he said in between his kisses to soothe her.

"What about you? are you going to be safe out there?" she asked worriedly.

Kael gives off a soft laugh hearing his wife's worry when actually he was the one who were feared by others.

"I will be safe darling", he said ȧssuredly.

"Really? how can you be so sure?"

"I'm their leader after Sinners, do you think they would dare to harm me?"

"Well, that's sound convincing, but I'm still worried"

"I will be back before you know it, darling" said Kael and he gives her a tender kiss on her forehead before his wings faded like magic.

Feeling the sudden lost of warmth, Kathleen looked around her where the wings was wrapping her before, "where did it go?", she asked.

"I keep it for awhile, it's too big to walk around with it" explained Kael with his amused expression looking at his wife. Her curiosity never failed to amuse him with her funny expression that he could almost see a big question mark on her face.

"But it felt so good when it wrapped around me" she complained with her hands trying to imitate the way the wings had wrapped around her waist.

"Well, there's no way I can left it here darling, so bȧrė without it for a while until I return" he said getting up from the bed and called Clause and Lauren who had been stand by outside the door.

The two servants went inside the room and greeted both of them, bowing their head. Kael gives them a few instructions and command before giving Kathleen a peck on her lips and leave. He jump from the balcony, spread his majestic wings in the air and flew away towards the howling sounds.

Kathleen was standing at the balcony, still in daze looking at Kael's disappearing figure when she heard Lauren's voice, "your highness, please get inside the room, it is not safe for you to stand alone here".

"Both of you are not going to eat me, don't you?" out of her curiosity and worries, she asked them.

"Though we drink blood mostly from humans, us vampires don't eat humans, you highness. Only the werewolves enjoy eating humans flesh" said Clause still in his aloofness. He was standing straight and tall with his butler suit and a silver chain pocket watch on his right side pocket, adding a little extra in his gloomy aura. He stand by the door like a real palace guard.

"But you are bot going to drink my blood right?" she asked still looking suspiciously at the servants. Kathleen walked to the bed and sat on it.

"Please ease your worries, your highness. We will never harm our own master" this time it was Lauren who had answered her question and Clause nodded his head in agreement.

Felt relieved, Kathleen tried to ask more questions to see how much she can learn from them.

"Do mind if I ask few questions?"

"We will give answer up to our knowledge, your highness"

"How many lives in this castle?" asked Kathleen, she wanted to asked for how many 'people' but she wasn't sure if the devil and vampires can be considered as 'people'.

"Including your highness and Prince Kael, there were 6 royalties living in this castle, which are his majesty the Devil King and the three concubines".

"Can they harm me?"

"I'm not sure about the king, but the concubines won't be able to attack your highness because of Prince Kael's power, your highness".

"Do you vampires eat humans food like I do?".

"No, your highness, our only source of food is blood alone, we couldn't consume humans food".

"Then you have to hunt for humans all the time?".

"We hunt for animal's blood when we didn't go for human, but honestly human's blood are the tastiest".

"But you can still survive with only animal's blood, am I right?".

"Yes, your highness".

Learning about it, Kathleen think that if only the vampires can keep themselves from feeding on humans and just hunt on animals for food, the world will be less terrifying. But still, if it were to happen, she felt pity for the animals for becoming the sole source of food for both humans and the night creatures, as the werewolves also hunt the animals for food.

Throughout their questions and answers session, it was only between Kathleen and Lauren, Clause kept his mouth shut and just stand by the door. He didn't even move a bit from his spot like he was glued on the floor.
