The Duke's Adopted Daughter

The two people continued to walk their way inside the forest. One middle age man wearing an armor and the other whose appearance is like a porcelain doll. They're like a good pair of father and daughter who was walking leisurely at the park and not in the dangerous Mystical Forest.

Both of them came to a stop when they hear growls nearing them.

Duke Gerald subconsciously hold the handle of his sword. He knows that he is not as strong as a mage and the animals in this forest were monsters that can kill you instantly with just a slight mistake from your end.

He look to his right where Louise is and notice that she's casually picking up a branch which look like a walking stick. She also look at him. As if reading his question, she casually answered.

"It's for my self-defense."

The Duke was dumbfounded. How can a walking stick become a weapon? But when he remember that he is talking to a mage he relax a bit. She was traveling in thisMystic Forest as if it's her courtyard without being harm. It only means that she is not an ordinary mage.

They both prepare for the attack. From the darkness, they can see a lot of red eyes glowing like laser whose eyeing them. The figures of the wolf whose size were like lions slowly walks towardsthem ready to attack. These were the exact monsters whom the Duke encountered when they first enter the forest.

One leading the pack who seems to be the leader look at them. It bared it's fangs as if telling them that their life is within it's grasps. It signaled to the other two wolves by his side to attack. The two wolves launch their attack bearing their fangs but before they can get near, there was a slash of a walking stick as fast as lightning as if an expert sword man is displaying its prowess.

Before the Duke can react, the two wolves who just attack earlier was forced backward and hit the nearby trees and fell into the ground heavily injured. Not only the Duke but also the pack of wolves were shocked at the turn of the events.

"My..my..apologies. I was a little bit shocked by the attack and subconsciously slash my walking stick. I really didn't mean it."

Both the Duke and the wolves all looked at the girl who was grinning towards the leader of the pack as if she was specifically talking to it.
