The Elemental Lovers [Completed]
Chapter 141:Epilogue: The Change
Daisy Dyer's POV
I was holding my husband's hand as he was driving his truck. We were on the way back to New York City after one week at the ranch. I was happy to know that we will be back to our normal routine.
Only it was not normal at all.
I have been informed by my husband that we will be staying at his mansion from now on. He had his staff arrange my stuff from the apartment that aunt Milly bought for me and moved it to his house. I cannot believe this guy.
"How do you even know where I live?" I asked him as he stopped in front of the house that we will be staying in now. I guess I can call this my home.
"Well, we had one week out of the city. I ask your aunt where it was and she gave permission for me to get your stuff moved into my house so we don't have to worry about it later," Dylan said as he was getting out of the truck. I rolled my eyes before I was out of the truck as well.
"And did you sell the apartment? It was mine you know," I said as I was glaring at him. He laughed before he kissed me. I melted away in his kiss. Damn him!
"No, I thought that I will discuss it with you for its future destiny. You are the landlady now," he said as he was putting his hand on my lower back and ushered me inside his house. We were greeted by the butler.
I don't even know that he has a butler or this big ass house!
I turned to look around and I saw that the living room was fascinating. They have portraits for generation and I was happy to know when they were painted.
"Was this your ancestors?" I asked him before he was nodding at me. I was nodding at him before Dylan was instructing something to the butler. I was walking down the hall before I stopped in front of a family portrait. It must be taken years ago.
I stared at it as I was looking into the familiar stormy orbs that I have come to love. I touched it as I was smiling at it. His hair was black and his charming smile. Now I know that he had that smile when he was born.
"What are you looking at, love?" Dylan asked me before I turned to look at him. He was staring at the family portrait right in front of us right now. His jaw clenched.
"You're cute even when you're younger," I said as I was looking at the portrait. I know it was hard for Dylan to look at his father after he knew the truth. I gripped his hand and squeezed it.
"It was his choice, Dylan. He chooses to be obsessed and let you and your family down. But we will not be like them. I know you are better than him. You're not obsessed with it, right?" I asked as he sighed. Dylan rubbed his neck before pulling me under his shoulder.
"Well, not addicted to the science anyway," he said as he was smirking at me while wiggling his eyebrows at me. I slapped his chest playfully before I leaned against him. His warmth was nice.
"That's good even though I am still sore. So no more for tonight," I said as I was warning him. Dylan groaned before he kissed my neck.
"I have other ways to pleasure you, love," he said into my ears before I chuckled.
"You're insatiable!"
"Only for you," Dylan said before he scooped me up and walked up the stairs. I was gripping his neck as I was arching my eyebrow at him.
"What are you doing?"
"Getting you acquainted with the house, our bedroom, our bed," he said as I was laughing while shaking my head. Well, there's no way I will say no to the new technique that my husband was willing to give it to me.
"But what if she asked us to move away from each other? I cannot handle that," I said as I was feeling the fury inside me. I sighed before I was rubbing my temples. Dylan caressed my knee before we were in the parking lot of the department. We got out and headed to the building.
"If anything happens, I have the perfect solution," Dylan said as I was arching my eyebrow at him. What does he mean by that statement?
"I don't know. I think Lucia might just want the progress report of our research, in which it has nothing to be reported about since someone refused to let m out of bed recently," I said as I was eyeing Dylan. He smirked before we were taking the stairs to Lucia's office. We walked to the left before we stopped in front of it. I was biting my lower lips as I was looking at the door.
Please let it be nothing!
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine," Dylan said before we knocked on the door. Lucia called us in before Dylan opened the door. We were shocked to see that Lucia was not alone. She was talking to Eliot Park that I met at the conference dinner.
"Well, it's a surprise to see you here," I said as I was looking at Eliot. Then I sensed that Dylan was scoffing behind me. I think he might be jealous of Eliot.
"I cannot say the same to you, Miss Daisy. I have been around the campus since last month," Eliot said as I was blinking at him.
"Oh? Well, I must be so focused on my stuff that I don't even notice you around," I said as I was laughing at him. Eliot smiled before Lucia cleared her throat.
"I think Mr. Park is going to be late if he did not leave for the conference now," Lucia said as I was looking at Eliot.
"What conference?" I asked him. He smiled.
"It's for the agriculture field to show their cases of studies. As you may know, I was one of the pharmaceutical companies in the world that used plants for medicine. It was more efficient and I trust it will be safe for the vegan as well," he explained as I nodded.
"Not that we care about, Eliot," Dylan mumbled before Eliot smirked.
"Well, I shall get going. Don't want to be caught in the storm or anything," Eliot said as he was looking at Dylan. I was looking at them both. Something was going on here.
"I see you around then, Miss Daisy," Eliot said as he took my hand and kissed my knuckles. I stiffed before Eliot left the room. Dylan was furious if I can tell by his body heat right now.
"Okay, now that was done. Take your seat," Lucia said as I was sitting in one chair and Dylan was in the other. Lucia cleared her throat before she was looking at us.
"I heard that you guys got married last week, is that correct?" She asked as she was looking at us both. I blushed before I was nodding. Dylan smiled and nodded.
"I think congratulation was in order but I just state that while you guys are free to be married, you still have a deadline to meet for the research papers. Have you guys got the information that you need for the conference upcoming month?" Lucia asked us before Dylan spoke for both of us.
"Don't worry, Lucia. It will be handled well. We have evidence and data that can support the reading that we have been taking for the last month. The next chapter of the papers will be published as it was expected," Dylan said as he was leaning closer to Lucia. She nodded as she was pleased to hear the words.
"I will expect nothing less from both of you," she said before she was focusing on my stomach.
"Well, I hope you wait until all of this over, yes?" She asked me as I blushed. I nodded before she sighed.
"Good, I want you to be the focus and if anything, I think NSF has their eyes on your projects. I think we have to give them the best paper and presentation of their lives then," Lucia said before I was smiling.
"I was hoping for it," I said before we were going over to discussion of the papers as Lucia asked to bring it and make some notes on it.
After an hour or so, we were exhausted as I was looking at my papers. It has a clearer purpose as well as Dylan's. I think we can ace this.
"Well, that's that," Lucia said as she was looking at the clock. "If you excuse me, I think I will have to go to the class now. I thought we will be done 30 minutes ago," she said as we stood up and gathered our stuff.
"Well, 30 minutes for each of us," I said as Lucia waved her hand dismissively before we were out of the office. I was looking at Dylan before he smiled at me.
"Lunch?"
"Definitely," I said as we were out of the building and went to the cafeteria.
I don't think that my life would be upside down when I met Dylan Windell but I think I can move forward to him now. He was my husband, my partner, my love. And I loved him with everything that I got.
I know that we will ace the conference meeting next month and publish our papers to make our fathers proud.
Besides, I already have the warning that the storm could always come in the worst way possible. And my storm was Dylan Windell.
