The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#1782 - Battle of Angstrom (VI)

Chapter 1768 Angstrom Sea Battle (6)

Aside from the Space Marines and Adeptus Mechanicus forces, the Adepta Sororitas also participated in this operation against Angstrom. However, they did not join the landing on the forge world. As the naval battle approached and manpower became strained, Soya assigned them to defend the sub-flagship Alloy Truth.

When the heretics launched a desperate boarding action against the Alloy Truth, Vilhets immediately directed the Battle Sisters to their battle stations.

Fortunately, most of the Red Corsairs' boarding parties headed for the Obsidian Throne. However, a small number of landing craft and boarding torpedoes bypassed the layers of fire and reached the outer hull of the Alloy Truth. Having fought the Red Corsairs several times, Vilhets was well aware of these heretics' extensive experience in boarding actions. Astartes might be able to effectively suppress them, but it wouldn't be so simple for ordinary humans.

Indeed, when she led the Arbitrators, Dogmata, and Seraphim Squads down the elevator to the lower unloading area of the battleship, the situation was already chaotic. Alarms blared, and the floor of the corridor was covered in ankle-deep sewage due to ruptured water pipes. The corpses of fully armed Adeptus Ministorum guards and servitors floated on the surface.

Some Tech-Priests were wading through the stagnant water, retreating from the intersecting passages, while the Battle Sisters formed a blockade and firing line. The scorching light from the flamers filled the entire corridor.

According to reports, there were approximately 100 enemies invading from this location, a standard Codex Company.

At the corner, Vilhets saw a Retributor Squad firing at something. Their command Sister was holding a power sword in one hand and supporting a wounded Retributor with the other, taking her behind the corner.

As Vilhets approached, she could clearly see that the wounded Retributor's helmet visor was severely damaged, sparks flying outwards. It looked as if she had been hit from the side by a bullet or shrapnel, or slashed by a chainsword. Most of her face was a bloody mess, and from the way the command Sister was leading her, it was clear that the warrior had lost her sight.

Vilhets remembered her name: Jennisa, 29 years old, had been with the Retributor Squad for three years, a brave, fearless, and devout warrior.

"Abbess—"

The command Sister was stunned when she saw Vilhets approaching. Vilhets quickly stepped forward and took the wounded warrior's arm from the other side.

"What's the situation?"

"The heretics have been temporarily suppressed, but the squad has suffered heavy casualties. Jennisa..."

Vilhets looked at the warrior. Her lips were still moving slowly, as if she was still chanting a battle prayer, even though she had fallen unconscious.

So, she turned and handed Jennisa over to the Hospitaller behind her.

"Prioritize getting the wounded to the rear."

The group passed through the corridor and arrived at the unloading area, where the fighting was most intense. As soon as Vilhets appeared, several bolter rounds flew over, tearing into the wall behind her. The Seraphim Squad returned fire, sending a volley of bolter rounds capable of leveling steel down the corridor. The Retributor Squad's heavy weapons followed closely behind, the furious melta streams forcing the crimson heretic Space Marines back into cover.

Suddenly, several Sisters were blasted away, falling into the shallow water. A plasma blast then struck a Sister who had just tried to get up. A particularly brazen Red Corsair, wielding two plasma pistols, jumped down from a steel beam, firing as he retreated, then turned and sprinted to the next piece of cover.

The Battle Sisters tried to attack this arrogant figure, bolter rounds and flames following him closely. However, this was just a target to attract attention. A group of Red Corsairs had squeezed their massive bodies into a narrow servitor tunnel, appearing on the Sisters' unexpected flank.

At this moment, they were still focused on the enemies at the main entrance, who were using crates as cover, stepping over the charred and nearly melted corpses of servants, moving from one piece of cover to the next, occasionally using their superb marksmanship to bring down distant Sisters.

Vilhets frowned as she watched the battlefield. She desperately wanted to lead her squad into the fray and destroy those loathsome heretical enemies, but after being an Abbess for so long, she knew very well what she should do.

Her command squad surrounded her. Kalima Said Olson stood motionless, holding a two-handed power sword, like a statue. The banner-bearer Sister was the same.

Suddenly, the heavy sound of footsteps reminded Vilhets to turn her head. She saw Adeptus Mechanicus combat robots finally being transported down from the upper decks, along with more robed Adeptus Ministorum guards and heavily armed servitors.

At this moment, a wall was suddenly blasted open a hundred meters away from Vilhets' position, exposing heretics in red armor preparing to ambush.

"Let's see you do a striptease, you crazy bitches of the False Emperor!"

A huge monster charged out of the black smoke, accompanied by the sound of metal teeth tearing through the air. A Battle Sister turned and raised her chainsword above her head, trying to block him, but the spiky giant preempted her, swinging his even larger chainaxe, first smashing away the incoming chainsword, then knocking the Battle Sister back into the smoke.

On the other side, another Red Corsair stepped over a pile of crates, charging towards Vilhets, wielding a power sword that emitted a vile hum.

Kalima Said Olson suddenly opened her eyes. The Wings of Fire jump pack on her back ignited, propelling her towards the Red Corsair at an incredible speed. He raised his sword to strike, but she dodged with an incredible flip, then her blade stabbed out at lightning speed, using the power of the jump pack to instantly sever the Red Corsair's arm from his armpit.

Then, the sword-wielding Sister landed silently, quickly turning on her left leg as a pivot, as if she were an elegant painter, using her sword as a brush, 'smearing' across the heretic in a very free and easy manner.

This Red Corsair had clearly never encountered such a swift mortal. He only managed to parry the first blow, then his knee was cut off. As he lost his balance, the blade had already slashed across his neck.

Throughout this process, the sword-wielding Sister remained silent, without prayer or shouting, which was the most unique thing about Kalima Said Olson.

Her swordsmanship was unmatched throughout the entire convent, even Vilhets couldn't match it, yet she never seemed to have been seen praying, and no one had ever heard her battle cry. She would only occasionally enter the confessional and then quickly come out.

Some Sisters therefore suspected her piety, and some even claimed that they saw contempt in her eyes when she looked at the Emperor's icon, but because Vilhets had always protected her, these rumors died down.

The Red Corsair wielding the plasma pistol saw that the surprise attack didn't seem to be working, and immediately jumped out of cover, trying to fire at Vilhets, but he didn't expect that he had already been locked on by the combat robot. As soon as he stood up, several plasma bolts seared into his chestplate, and the heretic shuddered violently, finally falling backwards with steam rising from his body.

Under Vilhets' command, the Battle Sisters, Adeptus Ministorum guards, and combat robots quickly annihilated this large group of heretics, ensuring that the Alloy Truth's operations were not disrupted in any way, but this disappointed some others.

"Ah, it looks like she's not in any danger."

In a dimly lit cabin on the mid-level deck, some tall shadows were scattered in various corners, chatting or repairing weapons, while several others were gathered around a faintly glowing screen.

The location of this cabin was very special. It was very close to the battleship's upper and lower main elevators, allowing for the fastest access to different deck levels.

Lin Li, his pale face illuminated by the screen's glow, shook his head.

"We actually had a chance to show up just now."

"The Chapter Master said that we shouldn't show up unless it's absolutely necessary."

After saying that, Bahram adjusted several other surveillance screens to confirm that there were no other problems.

"So, we're just going to be idle?"

"What do you mean idle? This is a mission, a mission, understand?"

"A mission to protect this Abbess?"

"To protect the Alloy Truth."

"But the Chapter Master specifically told us to protect her."

"She's a high-ranking member of the Ecclesiarchy, it's understandable."

"Then why are we being so secretive?"

"Ugh, cough, maybe the Chapter Master has his own considerations, don't ask. If you have nothing to do, you can take Sablin and some people to check out the public toilet in area B12. There seem to be two male Adeptus Mechanicus apprentices engaging in some heretical behavior."

"I'll see your mom, isn't that just two gays? Go yourself if you want to!"
