The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#1787 - Battle of Angstrom (XI)

Chapter 1773 Angus Thromm Naval Battle (XI)

[Forged from the humblest of ants, serving the尊 of machines, source power flows through your flesh and blood, between the machines and the blessed guns, appearing in the sacred form, serving in the sacred office, united with the sacred purpose and agreement, the great enemy of mankind is marching towards this place, its form is disordered, its corruption is deep, all of which blaspheme the orthodoxy of reason and logic, the servants of the Machine God hold wisdom and truth, and will surely bring disaster to these disciples who are not afraid of death]

After the enemy passed through the fire line of the long-range artillery, Ansetus issued new instructions. →

[Kill Protocol Activated, Destroy the Heretics]

The Adeptus Custodes met the first wave of enemies with a perfectly timed wall of fire, instantly blasting the Red Corsairs at the front into pieces.

At the same time, the battle robots of the Cybernetica Legion locked into position one after another, the weapons on their shoulders rising and unfolding like petals, and Ansetus could clearly hear the whirring sound of the weapon components charging.

Then came a storm-like volley, plasma spheres colliding violently in the air, splashing down in the Red Corsair's line.

The Red Corsair Space Marines still charged forward, ignoring the flames and explosions they encountered, while a wave of roaring gunfire spewed from the bolters in the hands of the Red Corsairs who survived the plasma rain, but it was already meaningless.

On the unobstructed terrain, without the support of heavy weapons, facing the Adeptus Custodes who had an absolute advantage in firepower, their charge was tantamount to suicide. →

In Ansetus's sight, the concentrated fire of the Adeptus Custodes overwhelmed the invaders in the southwest, the red triangles quickly darkened, and some disappeared completely, but in the west, the enemies were still trying to break through, passing through the fire line in tight wedge formations.

[Second Branch Turn to Support Coordinates]

Ansetus then relayed the new order, and then he set off to the battlefield on that side, although the spider-like hydraulic joints on his legs were hidden under layers of robes, they could still carry him quickly through various terrains.

A wide variety of bionic appendages were connected to the hunched figure of the Dominion Sage, and mecha-neural interfaces snaked out from under his heavy robes, and he grabbed a battleaxe with one of his many hands as he walked, stabbing its data-interfaced tip into the sand on the battlefield with angry determination.

Those heretics had already paid a heavy price for their twisted beliefs, with corpses, power armor fragments, and exposed viscera scattered across the plains.

However, the enemies in this direction were slightly different from before.

The Adeptus Custodes kept firing, the corpses exploding into clouds of red slime, plasma turning brass skin into molten spray, and beams passing through hordes of skinless hounds, Ansetus's senses filled with static electricity and distortion.

A large group of enchanted warriors, as well as some sorcerers and the demons they temporarily summoned.

This was the most blasphemous enemy he had ever encountered, and also the most difficult to deal with. The red mist summoned by the sorcerers interfered with the Adeptus Custodes' observation and aiming equipment, reducing their hit rate, while the enchanted warriors and demons continued to charge, trying to crush the Adeptus Custodes' formation.

A creature with spider legs and a brass torso screamed and charged towards a servitor, flesh and machine met. Pistons slammed forward cutting through decaying flesh, and sorcerous claws shattered armor plates.

All kinds of battle damage data raged in Ansetus's senses, half of his mind was processing the fire dispatch of each branch, and half was trying to predict the possible breakthrough probability of the enemy.

However, a new friendly signal suddenly appeared on the edge, causing Ansetus's processor to emit a subtle alarm.

It was also an Adeptus Custodes force, but with the mark of Ryza, they were holding some kind of unique weapon, which in Ansetus's view was neither beautiful nor practical, and was a typical heretical ostentation. If it weren't for the order of that Expedition Commander, these heretics would dare to set foot on Glass III, and would immediately receive his "warm welcome", but now...

Then, under his special attention, the Ryza Adeptus Custodes gained a foothold on the side of the Red Corsairs, and the orange-red robed half-machine soldiers then leveled the strange weapons in their hands.

"Hmm?"

With the help of the servo-skull in the sky, Ansetus was surprised to find that the weapons in the hands of the Ryza Adeptus Custodes transformed at the same time, turning into a crossbow-like form.

The next moment he saw the most spectacular plasma rain in his life.

The entire battlefield seemed to be shrouded in a blue halo, as if there was a blue sun in the sky, and then the earth began to scorch, and the Chaos Space Marines and demons, and even the enchanted warriors who tried to attack the Ryza army formation, were smashed to pieces under this dense "rain".

However, this was just the beginning.

"Damn, there's no end to them!"

Octot pulled his chainsword out of the abdomen of an Adeptus Custodes, but there was no imagined mess of internal organs, only some blackened parts and a thick smell of engine oil.

Fighting these half-machine people, he felt like he was fighting a group of corpses, and the feeling was not pleasant at all.

Suddenly, he felt something, and looked up at a patch of darkness in the distance.

The plasma rain was still washing the bloody battlefield, but he could feel, and realize, that something was approaching, something huge.

It was a behemoth, advancing relentlessly, each heavy step shaking the earth.

It was like a primordial god, from a forgotten ancient age, or a lost ancient beast, still wandering alone on the barren land after the extinction of all things.

The main body was covered in blue metal skin, covered with scars left by countless battles over tens of thousands of years. The white giant shoulder armor was branded with the Iron Fist emblem of the Fists Exemplar Chapter. The knight helmet-shaped head protruded slightly forward, its eyes burning with fiery red light. Unique segmented heavy armor plates extended from the head to the crotch. Turret bulwarks were distributed in areas such as the shoulder armor, shoulder sockets, and back. A large number of siege cannons and battle cannons were placed on these bulwarks. Banners and flags fluttered in the strong wind, and dozens of kill banners depicting different emblems hung below the pair of terrifying main guns that served as the Titan's arms, marking the enemy Titans it had destroyed in its long career.

As support for this expedition, Ryza sent one of their only few Warlord-class Titans, the ancient engine named Skullbreaker, to join the expeditionary force, and at the same time as the legion's command flagship - Skullbreaker was not its original name. During the Horus Heresy invasion of the planet, it killed four engines in the battle against the Flayed Hounds Legion, so it was renamed Skullbreaker after the war to commemorate this great feat and the terrible catastrophe that the forge world had survived.
