The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#1881 - The Flood
“Hmm?”
“I thought I heard you say something about harming the Empire's youth. →”
A gentle voice sounded, and Shoshyan turned around, seeing Viletts, wrapped only in a bath towel amidst the mist, walking out while drying her hair.
With Shoshyan's enhanced vision, Viletts was visible in every detail. Her alabaster skin was dotted with tiny water droplets, and a faint heat gently enveloped her body, filling the air with a delicate and pleasant fragrance. Combined with her flawless skin and rounded shoulders, she resembled a fresh fruit covered in morning dew, inspiring a unique desire to take a bite. Add to that her exquisite and beautiful collarbones and her beautiful yet saintly face, she was even more alluring without makeup.
To make matters worse, Viletts's towel was clearly of limited length, reaching only to her knees below, revealing her slender, jade-like legs. Above, it barely covered the essentials, leaving almost half of her snowy, delicate flesh exposed to the air, swaying with the movement of her hands as she gently rubbed her cloud-like golden hair with the towel.
“It’s, uh, the brief, from the legal department.”
Shoshyan quickly averted his gaze, then picked up his coffee and took a sip.
Viletts smiled, then looked towards the armor maintenance room.
“It will take some time for my clothes and armor to dry. I hope I'm not disturbing you too much here?”
“No, not at all.”
Shoshyan's eyes were glued to the data-slate, not moving an inch, and he didn't even look at Viletts when he spoke.
Viletts looked at him, gently walked to Shoshyan's large bed, sat on the edge, looked around the room, ran her hand across the bed, and suddenly smiled:
“It feels like it's been a long time since we were alone like this.”
“A long time.”
Shoshyan thought about it. It seemed like the last time he was alone with Viletts was after the Battle of Parang, ten years ago.
Ten years isn't long for an Astartes, but it might be different for mortals.
“Indeed, it has been a while, after all, we both bear our own missions.”
“Yes, missions.”
Viletts sighed softly from not far behind Shoshyan.
“Sometimes I often feel that I'm not suitable to be a Grand Sister, but I don't know why, I was pushed to this position without really understanding.”
Shoshyan put down his coffee, but still didn't turn around.
“It's indeed difficult for a person to make their own choices. Each of us is being forced forward by a sharp knife called fate pressed against our backs.”
“Shoshyan, there's a question, it might be a little presumptuous.”
“Speak, it doesn't matter.”
“If, before you became an Astartes, you met a woman you liked, would you give up becoming an Astartes for her?”
“I can't answer.”
Actually, Shoshyan remembered that he had answered this question to someone else.
Hearing his words, Viletts sighed, then said softly:
“Shoshyan, do you know, you are the most special person I have ever met, whether as an Astartes or as a man.”
“Is that so? Then has my image in your heart become very bad? A flawed Astartes, or a warrior with wavering faith.”
“I just said special, Shoshyan. Are these your own definitions of yourself? A flawed Astartes, a warrior with wavering faith? I can feel it, you're afraid. It seems that after a long time, you have also undergone changes I couldn't have imagined.”
Shoshyan didn't speak, just kept looking at the data-slate with a blank expression. After a moment of silence, Viletts said quietly:
“If my words have put pressure on you, please don't take them to heart. Actually, the first time I felt the special power within me, I also felt extremely terrified and uneasy. I was also afraid of whether I had fallen, whether I had become a hateful witch, whether I had been occupied by demons.”
“Hmm?”
Shoshyan immediately caught the key information, but he didn't respond immediately, intending to let Viletts finish speaking.
“But the facts prove that everything special about us is not accidental, nor is it a flaw, because we bear a mission that others can hardly imagine. So, Shoshyan, I will not look at you with different eyes, and you don't need to look at yourself like that. Just like I said before, you are His messenger, even if everyone doubts, I will still believe you.”
“Anna, the power you just mentioned...”
Shoshyan turned his head, then froze.
Viletts was now lying on her side on the bed, her smooth, silky golden hair scattered on her snowy shoulders and jade arms, her face like a peach blossom, smiling ambiguously, indescribably stunning.
Also, because of the lying position, Shoshyan could clearly see the rounded mounds squeezed to both sides by the tight towel, as if they could jump out of the towel at any time, making him inexplicably flustered, and he secretly looked away - perhaps he himself had not realized that, even though he had seen Veronica naked so many times, he still seemed very unfamiliar with women.
“Speaking of which, is that power similar to the Living Saint power you displayed on the battlefield?”
“Yes, but I'm not a Living Saint, I don't have that qualification yet.”
“Well, I know it's called a Saint Maiden in the Ecclesiarchy. When did you get that power?”
“I don't remember very clearly either, maybe it was after I separated from you on Parang.”
“Didn't the people in the Convent find it strange?”
Viletts smiled sweetly.
“Aren't the warriors in your Chapter not very doubtful either? Miracles are what the Sisters of Battle pursue as a goal. There are many kinds of Throne's miracles, and even the Ecclesiarchy's standards for identifying saints have more than a hundred kinds. Everyone just respects me more, there are no other changes.”
“Then how did you learn to control this power? Did anyone teach you?”
“Hmm, why are you suddenly so concerned about our Convent's affairs today?”
“I just want to understand, after all, we've experienced life and death on the battlefield, it's always.”
Viletts blinked.
“So, am I also special to you?”
Shoshyan was silent for a moment, then nodded.
“I'm so happy.”
Viletts smiled happily, extending her arm to him and said softly:
“Shoshyan, about the power within me, if you're really curious, come here first.”
Shoshyan then stood up, walked to the bed, and Viletts changed to a position where she was lying on the bed, her feet together, and then gently untied the knot of the bath towel.
“Anna, you.”
Shoshyan immediately wanted to retreat, but Viletts parted her lips slightly and whispered:
“Look at my back yourself.”
Hearing this, he then stepped forward again and picked up a corner of the bath towel.
At this time, Shoshyan, who was condescending, could clearly see the roundness of Viletts' chest being squeezed to both sides. He immediately averted his gaze and looked at Viletts' back.
