The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2158 - Falling Moon (Part 1)

Although they are all called Hunter-class Armor, strictly speaking, Hunter-class Armor does not refer to a single type of power armor. In fact, each set of Hunter-class Armor has unique equipment, which may even involve some powerful and ancient lost technologies. Therefore, most Hunter-class Armor surpasses the level of most Imperial military equipment. It not only has built-in weapons and automation equipment, but also has complete self-circulation functions that can regularly provide energy to the wearer, and even self-repair to ensure that frequent maintenance is not required, which is even better than the power armor of the Adeptus Astartes.

But the most amazing thing about Hunter-class Armor is its "experience points" system. As the user continuously accumulates experience through combat, the suit itself adapts to the user and promotes the realization of its own potential. Few Imperial war weapons can do this.

Of course, exceptional power comes at an exceptional price. It is difficult for non-top hive noble to purchase a set of Hunter-class Armor. Even just having wealth is not enough. What is needed is influence, background, and a good relationship with some top Necromunda nobles, and because these things are custom-made, the time required is extremely long.

Arnie's father happened to have a friend from Necromunda. Back then, a Necromundan rogue came to the Great Vortex as a bounty hunter and happened to meet Arnie's young father in an incident. After that, the two experienced a legendary adventure that could be called a thriller - destroying a Genestealer Cult and becoming best friends for life. Later, Arnie's father learned that this rogue was actually the heir of a super-rich family in Necromunda. After the other party returned to his hometown, the two still had frequent correspondence. Arnie's set of Hunter-class Armor was also made by his father when Arnie was born, and he paid a high cost.

However, Arnie is not interested in Hunter-class culture, which is not popular in the Great Vortex itself, so he doesn't pay much attention to it. It wasn't until before the war that his father brought the armor and forced it on him.

But Arnie felt that this kind of armor represented a barbaric and cruel culture, and he didn't want to wear it even on the battlefield, and its shape was not very good-looking. It was composed of huge artificial metal tendons, with additional armor on the limbs, shoulders, and chest and abdomen. The hands were huge gauntlets, five or six times larger than Arnie's fists. Wearing it would definitely make him look like a gorilla.

This type of Hunter-class Armor is also known as Orrus, and its characteristic is the artificial tendons that can greatly enhance human strength, as well as the oversized double fists with built-in bolter weapons, which combine cruel melee power with ruthless ranged strikes. It also has a force field to protect against ranged attacks, making it a model of offense and defense. Wearing it, you can easily slaughter a hive gang of more than a hundred people.

But Arnie has realized that this battle is likely to be extremely dangerous. In order to be able to witness victory alive, no matter how "indecent" the means, he needs to use them.

Soon, he took off his military coat and walked into the metal container—

“Retreat! Repeat: Retreat!”

Hashete shouted loudly.

“Everyone retreat to the next trench!”

Soon Hashete’s voice was drowned out by various chaotic shouts, but Hayes and the others heard it clearly and immediately made a decision. They turned around and ran towards the back, but people kept tripping over the scattered corpses.

“Help! Help! Brother Hayes! It caught me! Someone save me!”

Hearing Peak's screams, Hayes turned around and, after taking two steps, discovered a terrifying scene.

He saw Peak's arms waving weakly in spasms, his abdomen torn open, his internal organs hanging out, being grabbed like a weak puppet in the hands of a tall Chaos Space Marine. This monster, covered in twisted horns and eight-pointed stars, was holding a chainsword, cutting Peak's screaming flesh in a teasing manner.

As Hayes opened fire, the Chaos Space Marine threw Peak's body aside like a rag doll, turned to look at this little thing, and began to advance towards him.

Hayes was almost suffocated by the opponent's aura, but to save Peak, he mustered all his courage and tremblingly raised his lasgun to stop its advance.

The las-bolts struck the monster's abdomen, then its chest, shoulders, and helmet.

The las-beam flickered briefly with a brighter light as it passed through the helmet's eyepiece, but it was meaningless. No matter how many times Hayes hit it, the Chaos Space Marine continued to advance unhurriedly. It seemed unstoppable: the pain to its own flesh seemed as habitual as the pain to others.

Throughout the entire process, the roaring saw teeth in its hand grew closer and closer, as eager as its master to test its sharpness on Hayes's body.

Hayes retreated while firing. By this time, everyone around him had long since run away, and no one in his company had noticed what was happening.

At this time, if he turned around and ran, it might not be too late, but Hayes glanced at Peak, who was still lying on the ground, and hardened his heart!

“For the Emperor, yaaaa!!!”

He directly raised his rifle and charged towards the opponent, even the Chaos Space Marine was stunned for a moment. Immediately afterwards, Hayes threw a grenade as fast as lightning, and then lay down.

With a bang, a large amount of gravel splashed on Hayes's body.

When he got up, something slammed hard in front of him.

It was the huge, blood-stained chainsword, and the Chaos Space Marine was almost unscathed, even making a mocking laugh from under his helmet, and even throwing the weapon in front of Hayes as humiliation.

Hayes sat on the ground and retreated backwards. The opponent walked over, and when he picked up the chainsword again, it would be Hayes's death—

“Brother Hayes, run!!”

Then, unbelievably, Peak suddenly screamed and jumped onto the Chaos Space Marine's back. Hayes didn't know where he got the strength, but he wrapped his arms around the power pack behind the opponent, even though the high temperature immediately burned his hands until they smoked, and his intestines were dragged in the mud behind him.

As the Chaos Space Marine tried to pull him down, Peak, driven mad by the pain, actually smiled at Hayes, then raised one hand above his head, opened his blood-spurting mouth, and let out a crazy roar.

Hayes saw the five iron rings on Peak's fingers flashing, realizing that his comrade must have pulled the pins on every grenade on his belt.

“Peak!”

Boom—!

As Peak and the Chaos Space Marine disappeared in the roar and flash of the explosion, Hayes was blown onto his back and felt a sharp pain in his cheek.

The pain was so intense that it almost made him faint instantly, but Hayes maintained his consciousness, but his eyes were blurred with blood, and more importantly—

He only had his right eye left.
