The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2194 - The Destined One

Realizing that "money" might be useful in the future, Shoshyan decided to accept Zorg's "tribute."

"Alright, since you have the intention, the Chapter will accept it. Oh, almost forgot, Okam's forces left on the side of the Death Cult will also be handed over to you, hoping to give you more help in your future career. You didn't have lunch when you came, did you? Stay for a simple meal."

"It's a great honor."

Just then, a slight ticking sound came from Zorg's collar. He was about to turn it off when Shoshyan smiled:

"Take care of your business first."

Zorg nodded, connected to the hidden communicator, and after listening for thirty seconds, he whispered:

"I understand."

Then he looked at Shoshyan, but the other party preemptively said:

"Is something the matter?"

"A senior steward under my command is in a bit of trouble and may need me to handle it personally."

Shoshyan then raised his hand.

"It doesn't matter, go ahead and take care of your business."

Zorg then looked at the box, and Shoshyan immediately understood:

"Remember to take this with you as well."

"Chapter Master, then I will take my leave first."

Zorg picked up the briefcase, and he and Thorns turned and walked out of the office, then Veronica leaned over and whispered in Shoshyan's ear:

"Oh, are you planning to use him to replace Okam?"

Shoshyan sighed helplessly.

"I have this idea, but now it seems impossible. He has concerns in his heart and can no longer be a pure tool. Speaking of which, he is a bit similar to Kayan, worthy of being former master and servant."

"Then why don't you try the power of the Royal Court?"

"We'll see."

"There's also one more thing, before Lord Dorar left, he recruited some mercenaries of other races in the Great Vortex. He didn't have time to tell you about this."

Shoshyan frowned.

"Mercenaries? Doing what?"

"Dorar said that recently several maiden worlds have sent requests for help to the Royal Court, but the Royal Court's forces are currently weak, and the two Wards of Vaul also need forces to defend, so they can only rely on the power of some alien mercenaries."

"Is that so? Maiden worlds, are those wilderness tribes, right?"

"Yes, in the past, when they were attacked, they would ask the nearest Craftworld for help, but the Royal Court has raised the banner of the goddess Isha after all, and most wilderness compatriots still maintain the faith of the goddess Isha, so they have also gradually established contact with the Royal Court, and naturally they will also ask the Royal Court for help."

"Attackers"

Shoshyan tapped the table with his finger. Some problems are not that he is unwilling to face, but for his identity and position, they are too sensitive and too difficult to decide.

But Loreena is right, he can't treat himself as an outsider anymore, which is unfair to Veronica, after all, she has always supported him wholeheartedly.

"What kind are they?"

Veronica hesitated for a moment, and Shoshyan immediately held her hand.

"This is something I should know."

"Well, most of the attackers are humans, including the servants of Chaos, pirates, and also Imperial armies and Astartes Chapters."

Having been mentally prepared, Shoshyan was not surprised by this. As an Astartes who has served for hundreds of years, he naturally knows the Empire's foreign policy, especially for Eldar maiden worlds, which are highly habitable but have very weak defense forces, they are definitely priority targets, not only for Imperial armed forces, but also for Rogue Traders, Adeptus Mechanicus, and even the Ecclesiarchy will covet such worlds.

War, in fact, is mostly not due to pure hatred, but the essence is the competition for living space and living resources.

Shoshyan rubbed his face helplessly, and then said:

"Since it's a defensive battle, it's understandable."

"Alright, Dorar will handle these things, you don't have to think so much."

"I have to consider it. Okam's matter has already taught me a lesson. Even the most trusted people have to be questioned and considered. Let's arrange these things slowly after leaving the Great Vortex. In a while, those short people seem to have something to discuss with me, help me arrange a conference room that does not damage their self-esteem more."

"It's already arranged, they've been waiting for ten minutes."

"Ah, is that so? It seems like I'm always late when I meet them."

Shaking his head and getting up from the chair, Shoshyan followed Veronica to a side hall of the manor. It was much larger than the previous conference room, and there were huge stone pillars on both sides, which could weaken the pressure of his size. Around the huge conference table sat 3 Hearthkyn Salvagers, including Old Walker, the Grimnyr priest whom Shoshyan knew.

Opposite Old Walker was a female short person. This was also the first time Shoshyan had seen a female short person. He had heard before that both men and women of this race had beards, but in fact this was not the case. She was wearing a heavy robe and windbreaker, with strings of gorgeous gemstone ornaments hanging on her body, and thick golden braids that were long to her waist. Her round face looked quite majestic, and even some scars left by battles could be seen.

And between the two was a serious Hearthkyn Salvager wearing heavy armor.

His entire head was like mottled marble, bald but able to make people feel its hardness with the naked eye, thus reflecting a stubborn and unyielding soul. Under the slightly protruding brow bone were a pair of gray eyes, as calm as water but as deep as the sea. A white goatee surrounded his entire lips and chin. His armor was blue-gray, and he even wore a coat outside, engraved with mysterious runes, and a double bear totem on his back. A sheathed sword hung on his waist.

The chairs of the three Hearthkyn Salvagers had been specially heightened so that they would not appear too short when sitting on them, relative to Shoshyan.

"I'm really sorry, I just had a guest."

Shoshyan smiled and walked to his seat. His chair was slightly shorter, but even so, he was still much taller than those Hearthkyn Salvagers after sitting down.

And Veronica sat in the seat on his left, holding a data pad, pretending to be a well-behaved secretary.

Then he looked at Old Walker, who was smoking a pipe.

"Sovereign Walker, these two are"

Old Walker coughed lightly, and the pipe then pointed to the female Hearthkyn Salvager.

"Chapter Master Shoshyan, this is Guildward Koveim Reyr, and also the CEO of Ingvall Combined Logistics."

Shoshyan then nodded and smiled at her.

"Hello, Ms. Koveim Reyr."

"Hello, Chapter Master of the Star Knights, Supreme Lord Commander of the Human Empire Expeditionary Force, Your Excellency Shoshyan Alexey."

Her voice had both the deepness of a Hearthkyn Salvager and the softness of a woman, and her attitude was neither humble nor arrogant.

Then Walker pointed to the cold-eyed warrior.

"This is Guildward Ursar, one of the most powerful Guildwards in the League, also known as the Fated One. He led the League to victory in the Death Star Battle, and he also killed the Ork Warboss, the Iron Beast Goblak."
