The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2489 - Pterosaur Knight
After a short night of rest, the Eldar of the Linnae Kingdom busied themselves once more, for they had to prepare for the arrival of the Eternal Queen. During this time, to bolster the island's defenses, Valentinor Ravich also recalled the dragon packs from Emerald Isle.
With the assistance of the World Spirit, a long land bridge rose from the sea, connecting all the way to Emerald Isle at the ocean's edge.
Out of curiosity, Sosiun also rode his golden chariot to observe the dragons' return.
It was early morning, and the bright sunlight shone on the vast coastline. The rolling waves stirred up white foam along the shore, and strangely shaped shells were scattered on the glittering sand. Looking out, the sea met the sky, stretching to the horizon as if extending forever.
A 'line' could faintly be seen on the sea, but it was a channel over three hundred meters wide, formed by a large number of hard coral reefs. The Eldar's control over the planet's ecology, climate, and even geology was truly astonishing. Most importantly, their technology seemed to cause no damage to the planet's ecosystem.
Looking at the beautiful scenery before him, Sosiun suddenly felt a pang of emotion. Perhaps for 90% of humanity, such a sight would never appear even in their dreams. Their lives were destined to be spent in the cramped and closed metallic spaces of hive cities. But it's not to say that the Imperium has no such beauty, it's just that they often belong to a very few people.
Facing the gentle sea breeze, Sosiun stood up from his throne. On both sides of the land bridge, enormous aquatic animals frolicked in the bay, their spray creating dreamlike mists. From time to time, more creatures leaped out of the water, splashing up waves, but they were merely tiny decorations on this vast beach.
Finally, some small black dots in the sky attracted Sosiun's attention, and their numbers rapidly increased, startling the seabirds into scattering flight.
Amidst a strange cry, Sosiun saw the black dots gradually enlarge, revealing themselves to be flying beasts with huge wings, colorful bodies, slender and pointed heads, and red crests. These creatures possessed characteristics of both birds and beasts, with shallow feathers on their wings and short claws in the middle of their flight surfaces. Their bodies were covered in colorful scales, and their backward-facing legs ended in huge claws, with long tails ending in ovals.
But they were very fast, appearing from the horizon to the nearshore in just two minutes. Considering that Sosiun was currently at an altitude of about a hundred meters, it meant that their speed was about 17 kilometers per minute, which was not a speed that normal 'creatures' could achieve.
On the saddles on the backs of these flying beasts were Eldar standard-bearers. Their attire was similar to that of the dragon knights on the ground, but they did not 'ride' on them. Instead, they stood on the saddles in a half-squatting posture, which also highlighted the incredible physical balance of the Eldar race. In such high-speed flight, they only needed a rein to steady themselves, and could even free up one hand to use weapons.
There were about 300 of these wyvern riders, forming a loose formation. One particularly large wyvern, red all over, came to the gunboat where Valentinor Ravich was located, then took off his helmet, revealing a face similar to Valentinor Ravich but slightly younger.
Then he jumped directly onto the gunboat and embraced Valentinor Ravich.
"Brother, I'm so glad to see you're okay. I've been going crazy these past two days! I thought I'd lost you!"
The person who seemed to be Valentinor Ravich's brother almost cried as he spoke. At this time, two female knights riding smaller wyverns also flew over, jumping onto the deck and embracing Cordelia.
"Odval, I'm fine, we're all fine, the kingdom is safe, and your wife, Shanina, is also safe. She's been worried about you."
When the two let go, a young Eldar standing with Ivroyeria stepped forward and embraced the other.
"Kuno Brull, it's so good, you're okay too."
"Father, I'm fine. I also eliminated 38 enemies, and Mother is fine too."
As soon as the boy separated from his father, he was hugged by his two older sisters.
"You little rascal, I told you not to push yourself. How can you go to the battlefield at your age!?"
"That's right! Disobedience will be punished!"
They frantically rubbed their younger brother's face with their hands, making him want to cry but no tears came.
At the same time, the gunboat approached Sosiun's golden chariot, and then pieces of anti-gravity panels floated up.
"Odval, this is Prince Alexei, the Phoenix King. He led the army to save the Linnae Kingdom."
The Eldar named Odval and his two daughters came to the golden chariot, sized up Sosiun for three seconds, and then knelt on one knee.
"Odval, a humble commoner, greets His Highness the Phoenix King and thanks you for saving the Linnae Kingdom!"
"Please rise. The tenet of the royal court is to rescue those in danger and aid those in need. This is also the will of the Eternal Queen."
When they stood up, the two girls in spiritbone armor, who looked exactly alike, curiously gazed at Sosiun. Obviously, they were twins, also the second pair of twins Sosiun had ever seen. The first pair were Dora's two daughters.
"Odval, are you King Valentinor Ravich's younger brother?"
"Your Highness, yes."
After speaking, Odval sighed softly.
"I was leading the dragon packs to return after the end of the breeding season, but the enemy came too quickly and coincidentally. After discovering that the island was attacked, I immediately organized the wyvern knights to go to support, but we were blocked by the crude flying metal of the apes. But they couldn't really stop us. What really stopped us were those flying daemons. But we still approached the coast several times, but were repelled by the anti-aircraft positions deployed by the apes. Losing more than twenty knights, we tried to call on the power of the White Stag King to raise the land bridge, but the power of the White Stag King was weakened. At that time, I was really anxious but there was nothing I could do. If it had been any later, I might have launched an attack at all costs, even if I died, I would have been buried with my family."
Sosiun nodded slightly.
"Fortunately, these tragedies did not happen."
From what Sosiun had seen and heard in this brief encounter, he found that these savage Eldar really valued their homeland, family, household, and descendants. Not to say that the Ark Eldar don't value this, but in Sosiun's own feelings, the Ark Eldar still pursue themselves more. They do not have as much attachment and importance to family and homeland as the savage people. Therefore, these savage Eldar are often large families, with particularly many siblings.
