The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2512 - Spiritual Entity
What Soshjan saw was an Aeldari child who seemed to be combined with parts of the Tyranid chitinous layer, wearing a simple long shirt and standing barefoot on the ground, various expressions flickering across his childish face in constant succession. The Seer Council, though long withered and dead, was now vividly alive, freely flowing with various auras.
A breeze gently stirred Veronica's hair beside her face. She smiled and stepped forward, and as the child watched with some confusion, she knelt down and opened her arms to embrace him.
"Child, from now on, you will be called Bandalam."
"...Yes... Mother."
Their conversation was so natural, as if they had known each other well before this meeting.
Immediately afterwards, Veronica picked up the child, turned to Soshjan, and pointed to him with a smile:
"He, is your father."
The child looked at Soshjan with some fear, and Soshjan smiled and extended his arms. Veronica let the child sit on his arm.
"...Father."
Soshjan hadn't expected that the collision and combination of the many Aeldari souls and the Tyranid psychic brain worm would eventually give birth to such a conscious entity. What was it? A warp entity? Or a unique... Aeldari soul?
Or perhaps, a unique Tyranid?
But dwelling on this seemed meaningless. Although it had awakened earlier, its consciousness was still in a hazy, infant-like state. Veronica, as a mother, had guided it out of its initial chaotic state, and it instinctively regarded Veronica as its creator, a deep spiritual connection.
"Veronica, what do you intend to do with it?"
Hearing Soshjan's question, Veronica thought for a moment, then replied:
"Just keep it by my side. Such a unique existence, we can't let it run around, right? What if there are secrets involved that we don't know about?"
"I've heard that Tyranid creatures will always connect with their gestalt consciousness, no matter what. The bio-savants of Ulan Huda are also working to overcome this problem. Will it have this hidden danger in the future?"
"It shouldn't. Its consciousness structure has undergone a subversive change. You can even regard it as a small, mobile Infinity Circuit, an Infinity Circuit that has produced self-awareness."
"So it won't be too afraid of daemons?"
"Theoretically, yes, but it will still instinctively fear the servants of the Great Enemy. This needs to be corrected through guidance."
"Ha, I feel like you judged it to be harmless at first glance."
"Yes, we are in its world of consciousness. If it had even a little resistance, I would have felt it immediately. In fact, it welcomed us."
"Then why did it attack me as soon as we met?"
"Because you showed a threat. It was acting on instinct at the time. When it felt threatened, it would naturally fight back. Including the Tyranid-like hunger you felt, it was a 'roar' it used to protect itself, just like a child trying to scare away an opponent with its limited means."
Soshjan touched his nose and looked at Bandalam, who was hugging his arm, and joked:
"Its intimidation is not simple. Anyone else would have been crushed by it long ago... Alas, does it still retain the memory of being a brain worm? Or can it tell us something about the Tyranids? I've always had a feeling that the Tyranid swarm will soon set off huge waves in the galaxy. Bangula also did a data analysis for me. Since the First Tyranid War, the number of Tyranid fleets appearing and reported in the galaxy has been increasing, but the previous increase was relatively stable, but in the last fifty years, it has almost been an exponential surge. This may be a prelude to an unprecedented Tyranid disaster."
Veronica thought for a while and shook her head.
"It's very afraid of touching this part of the consciousness fragment, although it does retain a little. I'm actually considering clearing this part of the consciousness fragment. Perhaps you can discover something from it."
When a viscous, gel-like substance appeared in Veronica's hand, Soshjan was immediately surrounded by a cold and hungry wind, and then he began to observe the world through a pair of eyes that did not belong to him.
In the dark void, countless existences were densely distributed. Although there were no reference objects around, Soshjan subconsciously judged that they were large, very large, with bodies composed of undulating spines, fins, wings, and rigid jaws. They were like schools of fish in the sea, swimming in the boundless darkness in extremely dense formations. Their scale made Soshjan feel dizzy, countless, and seemingly endless even in the universe. And what they were facing was a faint, dim light, or rather, a place composed of countless smaller lights.
It should be called, the Milky Way Galaxy...
They are coming, with eternal greed and hunger, and a hatred that Soshjan can feel.
What does 'it' hate?
But Soshjan could feel that as a whole, it possessed unimaginable terrifying power.
This is a very unique feeling, it is difficult to describe in words what the loom of fate looks like, even with the complex and precise Aeldari language, it is still impossible to express it.
Even psychic communication and shared memories can only barely touch this feeling, it is so elusive that all subjective impressions will be submerged in an instant, it seems that only a pure heart can understand it.
However, Soshjan obtained the information he needed. Just as the remaining consciousness fragments of the brain worm were part of the hive fleet, the hive fleet seemed to be fragments of a larger overall will, just tentacles of something even greater, and this thing was completely beyond Soshjan's understanding.
Suddenly, the picture changed, their countless serrated mouths opened, spitting out a large pile of smaller shapes, landing on a planet. 'It' was dispersing deadly weapons to the ground, tens of thousands of hungry beasts.
The scenes of the death of many worlds appeared like a tide, its greedy desire washed over Soshjan's heart, like sea water patting and washing the foot of a cliff, trying to erode their foundations and crush them.
But Soshjan's consciousness easily blocked such pressure, and he continued to observe the information in the disappearing fragments of consciousness with his mind's eye.
The thinking of this creature is terribly monotonous, only devouring. It devoured the genes of many races such as Orks, humans, and Aeldari, constantly transforming itself and becoming stronger. Their perfect forging of themselves is not only to devour more races, but also to destroy the entire galaxy.
No wonder Bangula often said that the Tyranid swarm is an alien that combines miracle and terror. If the Imperium really perishes one day, it is very likely not from Chaos, but more likely from this devourer that they have not understood even a shred of real information about.
