The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2550 - White Lion Guard
After awakening, the White Lion Haratheal accepted the reality that it could no longer exist as a World Spirit. With the help of the Soul Seers, it prepared to enter the Infinity Circuit of the Craftworld, beginning to adapt to a sense of existence it had never experienced before.
The entire process was not complex. The Soul Seers gathered, their spirit staves gleaming, echoing the soft light emitted from the spirit stones in their hands. Then, they began to chant ancient incantations. Soul energy, in the form of flowing streams, shimmered and floated in the air. Tens of thousands of runes were arranged and combined on the Infinity Circuit, their speed exceeding even Sotha Nul's comprehension.
Subsequently, the entire crystal dome burned with a white-hot brand-like radiance, incredibly bright, yet controlled with precision.
At the same time, the once-dormant Wraithbone core of the Craftworld began to emit light, but no longer the cold, dead light of the old Infinity Circuit. Instead, it pulsed with vibrant, even violent, life force. However, the White Lion still struggled to adapt, even causing cracks to appear in the Craftworld's Wraithbone core. But Kaelthas Tulle intervened in time, swiftly repairing the cracks with his exquisite skill and slightly adjusting the Infinity Circuit's psychic network, finally calming the White Lion's spirit.
Thus, the remains of the former Craftworld Malan'tai officially became the Eternal Queen's war palace, and was named Maran'thel.
Afterward, Sotha Nul announced that a new unit would be formed in Maran'thel. This unit would be the war palace's guard and an elite force belonging to the Phoenix Lord, named the "White Lion Guard" after the White Lion's spirit. The first batch of recruits would be one thousand young men from the former Haratheal Kingdom's exiles.
Regarding the combat style of the White Lion Guard, because they were all wild folk and had not practiced any Path, their combat skills were currently at the level of militia. But this was actually a good thing for Sotha Nul, as it was well-suited for his idea of creating a completely new unit.
Regarding the Aeldari's armed forces, Sotha Nul had some personal opinions. Basically, except for the Warp Spiders and Fire Dragons, all other Paths were considered light infantry units. While this was related to the Aeldari's tactical tradition of prioritizing mobility and evasion over defensive capabilities, the reality was that the Aeldari often faced enemies of overwhelming numbers, whether it was Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, or even humans. Any means of evasion had its limits, especially when facing the enemy's suppressive fire. And the overly fragile defense made the Aeldari warriors' margin for error too low. Once injured, they often suffered severe damage, directly losing combat effectiveness.
Therefore, the unit Sotha Nul wanted to create was one that combined defense, offense, and mobility, rather than excessively leaning towards one aspect.
So, how should it be designed?
First, the armor. Sotha Nul first decided to adopt stacked reinforced Wraithbone armor. The characteristic of this armor was that the Wraithbone plates were stacked together layer by layer, similar to the structure of crustacean shells. The appearance was close to the armor of the Nightmares, possessing both flexibility and defensive capabilities. There was even specific reinforcement in the chest, abdomen, thighs, and helmet. The defensive capability of this armor could basically reach the level of ancient Aeldari Empire military armor, which only master Bonesingers of the Khansala could create.
But correspondingly, after wearing this armor, flexibility and speed would inevitably be affected to some extent. Sotha Nul did not intend to create a warrior similar to a Terminator, because that would not be in line with the overall tactical style of the Aeldari, and it would be difficult to coordinate with other forces.
And to solve this problem, Sotha Nul turned his attention to a special piece of Aeldari equipment - the anti-gravity skimmer.
This was a piece of equipment used by the Drukhari Hellions, basically a small aircraft custom-made for the Aeldari, because only the Aeldari's extraordinary balance and sensitivity could control such a thing.
But that was not enough. What Sotha Nul needed was an anti-gravity skimmer with a certain degree of independent flight capability and could be controlled by the user, similar to a robot. When the user came to the ground to fight, they could assist in combat under command or completely autonomously.
The Aeldari also used a large number of pure constructs and unmanned machines for combat in ancient times, but this technology experienced a break after the Fall, as evidenced by the spindle drones in the Black Fortresses. Although the Aeldari could now control them, they had lost the ability to manufacture them.
But this problem was solved with Kaelthas Tulle. He was one of the few Bonesingers who still mastered ancient construct technology. He told Sotha Nul that he could directly transform some of the spindle drones into anti-gravity skimmers, and could also install additional weapons on them.
As for weapons, since the White Lion Guard would be fighting on anti-gravity skimmers, their best choice was naturally polearms. Sotha Nul looked at a series of weapons for a long time and finally chose the power halberd, which was a weapon combining a power laser and a halberd, which could easily split most metal heavy armor in a high-speed impact.
After a series of choices by Sotha Nul and discussions with other Warhosts and Autarchs, a very unique heavy infantry unit using large anti-gravity skimmers appeared. They could use the skimmers' high speed to quickly reach the battlefield, and then form a powerful offensive spearhead, ignoring the suppressive firepower to launch a devastating impact on the enemy, just like a fierce white lion.
Of course, the idea was good, but training and equipment manufacturing would take time. Fortunately, there were more than a dozen Hellions in the Bloody Forest, although they had abandoned the dark path long ago, they had not forgotten their skills, so they were recruited into the White Lion Guard to become instructors and the first batch of officers.
Sotha Nul temporarily divided the White Lion Guard into ten companies, and the Guard Commander was temporarily served by Kiniones, the only surviving member of the Haratheal Kingdom with some royal blood.
During this time, he took a stroll around the re-sculpted Maran'thel. He hadn't taken a close look at it since he cleared out the Orks last time.
After continuous cutting, plus the transfer of some Malan'tai survivors to their community in the Royal Court, the current Malan'tai was only two-thirds the size of its past, but it was still a behemoth.
During the inspection, Veronica naturally accompanied him.
As the Queen's war palace, the first thing to build was naturally the palace itself, which was entirely designed by Veronica herself, and the Bonesingers completely followed the Queen's will to shape it.
