The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2592 - Shadow Beyond Time and Space
As large sections of armor and structure were torn from the cruiser, both Soya and Amunak were immediately exposed to the vacuum of space. Fortunately, it had no effect on them. The surrounding battle robots immediately activated their magnetic locks, and the landing craft started its engines, hovering nearby. However, Soya and Amunak were not concerned with these things at the moment. They were looking at the cruiser, which had been transformed into some kind of "creature." Its entire hull was torn open, revealing pulsating, fleshy stalks, like grotesque monuments commemorating the devoured souls within.
These fleshy stalks sprouted tendrils that crisscrossed above them, giving them the feeling of being in some kind of decadent arena. At the heart of the arena was a towering, bizarre obelisk—actually composed of two obelisks intertwined in a strange spiral, engraved with complex inscriptions. It seemed thousands of meters tall, standing in the void and radiating an eerie halo.
Not far away, a Chaos cruiser was falling apart under the assault of two dragonships.
Beneath the obelisk stood two bizarre figures. One was shaped like a spider, but even more terrifying, with only six twisted, hairy legs extending evenly from its central body.
The body, however, was completely devoid of hair like the six legs, covered in skin coated with dark red mucus, like the remnants after an animal had been skinned. Many raised lumps pulsed violently on its back, as if living internal organs had grown spider legs.
At the same time, a deep bass emanated from the vibrating abdomen, accompanied by a hissing roar. A section of the visceral body split open vertically, and a head emerged.
The thing had a surprisingly long neck, and its head was covered in black-red mucus. The head resembled some kind of deformed beast, with six bloodshot eyes staring at the two.
The other was simpler, reaching over fifty meters in height, with a faceless head covered in bone-like material, inscribed with Slaanesh's symbols of worship. The flexible body had four finger-length arms on each side, and countless thick tentacles writhing and intertwined below the abdomen.
[Amunak, the Great Game has no place for you.]
[The game should end.]
The two voices did not come from the air but passed directly through bone and brain. Although so grim, they carried unparalleled power, even causing Soya's forehead to ache slightly upon hearing them.
This made him very suspicious. No Greater Daemon had ever given him this feeling, unless—
They were not daemons!
Amunak narrowed his eyes, looking at the two things as if thinking about something. After a long while, he finally answered the question in Soya's mind.
"I know. They are Slaanesh's worshipers in other spaces. They are not daemons; they are the reflections of those powerful beings behind the obelisk. We must destroy it."
Soya frowned.
"You mean they are not creatures of the galaxy? Are there such things? Is this witchcraft or technology?"
"Not necessarily from outside the galaxy, perhaps creatures from the ancient times of the galaxy… I'll deal with the one on the left, you deal with the one on the right."
"Alright."
Then, the two instantly left their positions. The giant figure facing Soya stood silently, and although it had no eyes, Soya could still feel a malicious gaze watching him, or perhaps something even more terrifying.
As Soya charged towards the opponent, with each step he took, he felt all his thoughts fading away like a candle being blown out, as if his emotions were being stripped away little by little—leaving only painful despair, banishing everything else from his mind.
The closer he got, the more he felt his thoughts were disordered, as if he were controlling only an empty shell, and his inner self did not belong to him. It was a very strange feeling, as if he could see himself charging forward expressionlessly.
Soya could feel the power of the Grey Matter pumping, but it was of no help in the current situation. He even wanted to close his heavy eyes because there were many rapidly rotating shapes on his eyelids, making him dizzy and his knees weak.
This was the first time he had encountered an attack that the Grey Matter could not break. He didn't know what kind of power it was, but it was definitely not psychic energy.
But under this strange mental attack, Soya's armor suddenly turned black, and then he found himself again—
He rushed towards his opponent like a thunderbolt, stomping his feet continuously, wielding the Skyfire, which was filled with black light.
Realizing that it had failed to devour the opponent's consciousness, the thing moved, as fast as the wind. Its lower tentacles whipped towards Soya like whips, trying to trap his legs and arms. Anything else that was touched by the tentacles would immediately turn into a puff of white smoke, which looked very terrifying.
Soya quickly retaliated, slashing at the tentacles with the Sunfire Blade, cutting them off. The cut surfaces leaked a lot of fine white sand, but the tentacles seemed to be everywhere, and soon two more wrapped around.
A tentacle almost hit Soya's cheek, forcing his head back. But even just being grazed by the wind raised by the tentacle, he could still feel a slight burning pain.
Seeing its tentacles constantly being cut off, the creature floated into the air, re-bending the structure of real space. The shimmering mesh structure shook and bulged with bizarre, low-pitched incantations. Soya drove the black flames towards the opponent, but it only rotated and twisted flexibly in the air, and the tentacles carved out strands of shadowy matter from the writhing dark mass, skillfully weaving the power of destruction with mysterious fractal lines.
At this time, Soya's Skyfire had already risen with black flames, directly sweeping towards this mysterious creature, but the shining giant net had also been unfolded in front of him.
In the next second, before Soya could react, he disappeared from the world—
Or rather, he fell into a strange space, a box in one direction. It seemed to be constantly moving, forming a world composed of supernatural angles and walls, constantly bending backward, and strange faces peered at him from the changing gaps—those were creatures of terrible beauty.
Soya weakly raised his painful head, as if a thirsty mouth was kissing his cold soul. The power that had made him so confident was now gone. In this absolutely silent space, he looked around, but could not see the thing that played the rhythm of the universe.
He propped himself up with the Skyfire and picked up the Sunfire Blade.
The flowing light and darkness flickered on his solemn face, and then, unbelievably, he smiled.
Just as he did so, his expression slipped off, as if he were wearing a close-fitting mask that had temporarily lost its grip.
[As you see, as I see]
[One day the loser will collapse, one day the loser will disappear completely]
[That day has not yet arrived, that day is about to arrive]
