The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2692 - Blood and Fire Coke Oven City (Part 1)
“You audacious xenos scum!”
With an angry roar, Sergeant Baleze of the White Templars' Third Company grabbed the head of a Genestealer Neophyte wearing a dirty laborer's uniform, smashing the xenos's face against a fuel tank. The alien's bones were crushed, and the Terminator-armored warrior casually tossed the corpse aside like worthless garbage.
Around him, a Terminator squad of ten veterans had already dealt with all the enemies. Although it was the Third Company, thanks to Ulan Hadar's powerful production capabilities, they still possessed two full Terminator squads, albeit all of the Indomitus pattern, which would be considered a luxury by most chapters.
The Third Company's mission was to cooperate with the Adeptus Arbites in capturing the western station outside the Coke Furnace City.
This station was a rail transport hub connecting Coke Furnace City and the mining area, responsible for transportation and dispatching, making it as vast as a small town. It was also the western gate of Coke Furnace City, among the first facilities to be occupied during the Black Limb Cult's rebellion. After the occupation, the Genestealer Cult made every effort to fortify it and deploy a large number of troops, attempting to turn it into a solid fortress.
To achieve this, they dismantled a large number of rails and used them along with the railcars to surround the entire station. All internal facilities and high points were equipped with machine guns and autocannons as bunkers, and hundreds of simple bunkers were built.
However, all these painstaking designs had limited effect in the face of absolute firepower superiority. Although the Imperium did not use devastating methods such as orbital bombardment, the continuous five-hour shelling and precise missile strikes destroyed most of the Genestealer's painstakingly built fortifications, proving that it was extremely foolish to try to directly confront a force with absolute heavy firepower using light infantry.
But the Black Limb Cult had no choice but to resist under these extremely unfavorable conditions, because they had no other options.
After a long period of air raids and bombardments, the ground-based Adeptus Arbites began to advance. Simultaneously, the Space Marines were directly deployed into the enemy's interior via Thunderhawks, using the common tactic of striking from the center to quickly disintegrate the remaining enemy resistance.
Because the battle broke out in several directions at the same time, the station's offensive was assisted by the Third Company alone, but Baleze was full of confidence.
Although the company was not at full strength, with only 88 men, it had two close combat support squads—20 Indomitus-pattern Terminators, 2 heavy firepower support squads—each squad equipped with 3 meltaguns, 3 plasma rifles, 2 Dytrian-pattern heavy plasma guns, 2 heavy flamers, as well as 2 Dreadnought veterans, 2 Land Speeder, 6 Thunderhawk gunships, 3 Stormtalons. Such firepower could definitely be called ferocious, and Baleze, as the company commander, could call in air support strikes from the air support squads at any time.
So, after landing, he immediately ordered the company to occupy the key high points of the station, personally leading the Terminator squad to capture the important unloading platform, because the steel structure buildings here suffered less damage from bombing, and the resistance was the fiercest, with the Adeptus Arbites being blocked outside by the enemy.
The noise of gunfire in the distance drowned out the sound of the Terminators' ceramite boots on the deck. The unloading platform had three levels. The first level was originally a mixing depot. Under normal circumstances, semi-solid raw materials from the mining area would be sent here, and then huge mixing machines would rotate to prevent them from separating and solidifying. Countless slave laborers would toil among the giant barrels. Some of them were servitors, and others were not. Conscious slaves would have marks branded on their faces, and it was these slaves who, after being infected by the xenos, overthrew their former masters.
Now they were all equipped with weapons, but none were prepared to face the wrath of the Imperium.
“Byrne, report.”
While stepping over the xenos's corpses and passing through the huge tanks, Baleze inquired about the situation of another Terminator squad through the comm, and gently hefted the huge thunder hammer in his hand.
“I am in position.”
“The attack has begun, proceed.”
Just as the Genestealers were struggling to rebuild their formations to try to block the Terminator giants coming from the front, the wall on their side suddenly exploded, and another Terminator squad rushed in, appearing on the Genestealers' flank.
They did not expect to be attacked, and even when the Terminators stormed into the open area behind them like a storm, with twin bolters and plasma pistols roaring, it took them several seconds to realize what was happening.
And in those few seconds, dozens of them had been killed. Close-range shots either blew their heads off their shoulders or tore gaping holes in their torsos.
“Move up!”
Baleze immediately quickened his pace, but his target was not those being slaughtered, but an upward-sloping ramp leading to a series of walkways surrounding the upper area of the storage tanks. The enemies might be there, firing at the Terminators.
As soon as he went up, Baleze saw several xenos in dirty work clothes occupying firing positions behind a pile of machinery. They were holding lasguns common among the Adeptus Arbites. This weapon was simple but effective in design, capable of firing a special type of ammunition over a long range, which could cause the target's internal energy to explode and cause the target to be killed by an electromagnetic force burst. It also had good armor-piercing capabilities. If the distance was close enough, these weapons might even be able to shoot holes in power armor.
There was no doubt that these xenos were dangerous shooters.
Baleze rushed directly towards those people, the xenos were shocked by this, and they should have fired all their bullets at the charging Terminator.
“Kill!”
With a roar, he directly overturned the machinery used as cover, crushing the first enemy underneath. This person's face was too incomplete from being burned by a branding iron, seemingly without a nose or lips, only a mass of torn, blistering flesh, unable to cover even the rotten teeth in his mouth. If it weren't for the bald head, it would be difficult to tell that it was a xenos.
As his chest was crushed with a creaking sound, his turbid yellow eyes rolled back.
Immediately afterwards, the Terminator thrust his hand into the next enemy's abdomen. As blood and debris splashed out, Baleze's fingers tore through the enemy's stomach and spine.
While killing with his bare hands, his weapon was not idle, directly smashing towards a target, as if an eraser had wiped away a stain on paper, directly causing the upper half of the opponent's body to disappear, so much so that his upper body did not realize he was dead before falling.
After easily killing these targets, he continued upwards, quickly arriving at the second floor.
This was the mechanical area, with a semi-circular structure, many cranes and conveyors distributed here, and constantly undulating ghostly figures moving at high speed in the shadows.
“Purestrains detected.”
