The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2710 - One versus a Thousand (Part 2)
The Tomb Blades immediately tried to evade. These open-style anti-gravity motorcycles had a unique design feature: they avoided the direct, arrow-like trajectories of other jet motorcycles and fighters. They utilized dimensional repulsion engines, ensuring that gravity, momentum, and other physical forces had almost no effect on their frames, allowing them to propel themselves in a way unrestricted by momentum or inertia. This granted them incredible flexibility and speed.
Typically, unless it was a covering fire, very little firepower could chase and hit them.
But this time, they were not facing the power of this space.
In an instant, energy from another dimension ignored the expanse of space, instantly tearing apart all the Tomb Blades along with their pilots. Countless metal fragments rained down from above.
Then the giant laughed and moved again. Before their gauss weapons even had time to leave a spark on his breastplate, the long weapon pierced two Immortals, lifting their bodies high.
"Necrons, is that all you've got!"
The language he spoke was familiar to Gorri; it was the language used by the servants of their ancient enemies, who called themselves the Eldar.
Faced with the provocation, the prince on the command skimmer roared, then drove the skimmer like a rumbling chariot towards the enemy, raising his phase scythe to strike down.
At the same time, Gorri and their Immortal legion moved forward, anticipating the enemy would expose his defensive weaknesses when he raised his weapon to defend against the lord's attack.
But the opponent struck first, jumping up and bringing his weapon down on the prince. The phase scythe collided with that strange weapon, causing the entire space to flash white. Then, the broken head of the scythe flew high, and the giant used his weapon to directly cleave the command skimmer, scattering sparks all the way.
The sudden loss of balance caused the prince to somersault and fall heavily to the ground.
The Immortals immediately swarmed to save their master, and the Scarabs and Constructs also surged from all directions, threatening to drown the giant.
But the man shouted, spun his weapon around, and slammed it down. The enormous energy burst out, rampaging through the legion. Gorri also futilely raised his weapon to try to protect himself, but instead of feeling burning pain, he felt as if he was being disassembled. Invisible etheric claws gripped his skull, twisting it violently.
In an instant, he fell to his knees, collapsing forward, his lower body beginning to dissolve. Not just him, but hundreds of Immortals around him were destroyed by this blow. Only those further away were unaffected.
And the Constructs and Scarabs fell to the ground.
But at this moment, behind the giant who had just annihilated so many Immortals, a dazzling spot of light suddenly appeared. A Cryptek darted out, seizing the opportunity to point the Staff of Light at the great enemy.
A dome shimmering with blue light appeared, covering the man within.
This was a Chronomancer. He had been waiting for this moment of the opponent's relaxation for a long time, and the Staff of Eternity in his hand would generate a stasis field containing a large amount of temporal energy, from which the covered opponent had no escape. (Trazyn also uses this to capture people)
"Szarekh, what exactly is this thing? Why does it have the power of a C'tan?"
The prince scrambled up from the ground, his anger audible in his voice. Facing his question, the Chronomancer merely circled the petrified Sozh'yan and replied in a monotonous voice:
"I do not know, perhaps—"
Suddenly, the Chronomancer recoiled, because the human who should have been unable to move suddenly turned his gaze towards him. Then, a torrent of mercury suddenly erupted from within the temporal field, the liquid metal boiling and spraying, instantly submerging the ship's deck and melting the floor into rolling, bubbling semi-fluid.
The Immortals and all Necron constructs unleashed fierce firepower at the rapidly expanding liquid metal, only to create silvery-white fountains in the surging mercury waves. Arcs and particle beams pierced the entity in a storm, but no shot could stop this terrifying being from revealing itself.
The next moment, the surging liquid metal poured into them through their eye sockets, sternum gaps, and screaming mouths, tearing them apart from the inside out—countless irregular blades and spikes burst out from their backs and chests, like an inside-out Iron Maiden.
"What is this!"
The Chronomancer immediately waved his staff, releasing a time vortex that could throw things into another temporal rift, but a piece of shiny living mercury attacked it, instantly transforming back into the original man's form.
At this point, Sozh'yan was like a colored comet, shuttling between the time vortices, metal foam scattering everywhere with his movements and broken afterimages.
The prince in the distance took full advantage of this opportunity, ordering the belated Annihilator Barge to fire at the mutated enemy with the most intense firepower. With a series of thunderous roars, the leaping giant arcs exploded in the twisted mercury flesh, striped energy spreading throughout Sozh'yan's body, but to no avail.
Seeing the opponent pounce towards him, the Chronomancer opened his time cloak, releasing a time barrier.
Then he was swept into the torrent.
The center of the liquid metal tide began to churn violently, followed by a burst of molten light. A violent roar came from the hellish center of light. When the screaming was at its most intense, the bodies of the Immortals were shattered, bursting out a series of sparks.
Then a piercing sound rang out in the air, and the state of the silver metal changed. Clouds of mist boiled towards the ceiling, emitting white flashes.
Sozh'yan, holding Skyfire, stood in the center of the steam like a blasphemous statue—an idol of heresy.
His armor was dazzlingly bright, scorching the air around him, and his eyes surged with terrifyingly beautiful light. The Chronomancer's shattered body was held in his hand.
Under the prince's shocked gaze, he flung the Chronomancer's body, using it as a weapon to smash into the Annihilator Barge not far away. The anti-gravity weapon was then brutally torn from the air by the monster's power.
Then he came before the prince, choosing his weapon and cutting him in half at the waist.
"Tell me, where exactly is your Silent King?"
Lifting the prince's struggling upper body, Sozh'yan grabbed his head, intending to extract his memories. He had been doing this all along, after all, the ship was large, and it was easy to get lost walking alone.
Whoosh—
An energy beam streaked past his shoulder armor from behind, hitting the prince's head, almost piercing the skull. Sozh'yan turned around and saw an Immortal who had lost his lower body, still shooting at him.
He shook his head. The stubbornness of these metal undead was far beyond his imagination, so he walked over to the thing, raised his foot, and prepared to crush it.
However, when he noticed that this Necron seemed to be muttering something in his mouth, and then thought of the comical behavior of the other party who had just shot himself but hit his comrade's head, he suddenly became interested, threw away the prince, and instead grabbed the other party's body and lifted it up.
A moment later, as the light in the Necron's eyes dimmed, Sozh'yan slowly released his hand.
He frowned, looking at the metal wreckage still struggling on the ground. His gaze gradually changed from the previous anger to pity, and then he reached out and grabbed the prince in his hand.
"Good, good, another tyrant who wants to control everyone with his will, Szarekh, you selfish bastards, now I have more reason to destroy you."
Saying that, he turned and walked step by step into the darkness, and more footsteps of metal rubbing against the ground came from afar.
