The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2764 - Public spirit comes first

Hearing the Star Wraith's mockery, the other Eldar nodded in agreement, even the usually mild-mannered Night Spear couldn't help but sigh:

“This principle... not everyone understands it. Actually, I wavered at first. If collecting the five Croneswords could lift our race's curse... it can only be said that hope is the sweetest poison.”

“Your Highness, I believe that Yvraine should be arrested! And the so-called Death Guard disbanded!”

A voice rang out, and Sorshen turned his gaze to Prince Yvane of the Lyra's Kingdom. He was now a Dragon Knight in the Dragon Army, and therefore qualified to participate in the Privy Council meetings.

Yvane, who had already stood up, bowed to Sorshen and then said in a forceful voice:

“The Seventh Path that Yvraine advocates is clearly a heretical and deceptive doctrine with malicious intentions to divide the race! It is a contempt for the authority of the Court and the Eternal Queen! The future of the Eldar lies in the grace of Isha the Mother, not the despair of the God of Death. Moreover, she tore Biel-Tan apart, causing countless ancestral souls to perish. I even suspect that the daemon invasion was also orchestrated by her in order to take the Cronesword from Biel-Tan's dragonbone! If that is the case, then she is a criminal who harmed her own kind, and should be——”

Sorshen raised his hand to interrupt him.

“Dragon Knight Yvane, this is the Privy Council, the military heart of the Court. Any word spoken here must not be malicious speculation, but must be based on evidence... because this represents the Court's last diplomatic resort.”

Yvane was stunned for a moment, then bowed deeply.

“Your Highness, I misspoke. Please punish me.”

“I will not punish you for the first time. Sit down.”

After Yvane returned to his seat, Sorshen looked at Night Spear.

“What is the situation in Biel-Tan now?”

“The situation is bad, but it has not reached the worst point. This Craftworld was originally pieced together from many ancient ships around the main dragonbone. When the main dragonbone loses its activity, its various components begin to fall apart. But the seers of Biel-Tan are worthy of the title of War Seers. They remained calm in this situation. Seer Elders such as Lathrael, Altharik, and Datarik made many correct decisions at critical moments, including transferring the surviving souls into wraith constructs, and directing Biel-Tan's Bonesingers to reshape the skeletons of the shrines and dome ships that had separated from the Craftworld. Others sang the Healing Chant and the Plainsong, allowing Biel-Tan's dragonbone to slowly reshape itself.”

“So... Biel-Tan Craftworld still exists? Only... it is in a state of possible disintegration at any time.”

“Yes, although it is only a shadow of its former self, Biel-Tan is still a powerful Craftworld, but its solar sail warp storm has been devoured, rendering it immobile. It was under these circumstances that Ulthwé intervened, taking away the Death Guard. This war has caused Biel-Tan to lose a large number of people, plus those who left with Yvraine. Now it is estimated that only two-thirds of its former peak strength remains.”

“So... what is their attitude now?”

Sorshen's question seemed inexplicable, but Night Spear knew what he was asking.

“They... hope to get help from the Court, but now Biel-Tan is in an extremely fragile state. It will take some time to repair the solar sails, and an immobile Craftworld is easily attacked. When the warp storm dissipates, enemies may appear, so... they hope that the Court's fleet can go to the nearest Webway exit and assist in guarding the surrounding space.”

“Oh——”

Sorshen nodded in understanding.

“They hope to get military protection from the Court during the repair of the solar sails, but they are also worried that the Court will take advantage of their misfortune, so they want the Court's ships to stand guard for them, right?”

“Your Highness, mainly the residents of Biel-Tan have just experienced such a upheaval, and they have a rather serious distrust of outsiders.”

“I know, anything else?”

“The Biel-Tan Seer Council hopes that Master Calas Typon can go to the Craftworld to help them rebuild the Infinity Circuit and repair some key facilities.”

Privy Council Speaker Yvraine said coldly upon hearing this:

“They are asking for so much, what are they planning to give in return?”

“It is right for Eldar to help each other. I personally don't think we should pursue any reward.”

Night Spear's tone was cautious, but very honest.

“For thousands of years, I have helped many worlds and Craftworlds, and I have never asked for a reward, because our race is standing on the edge of a cliff. If we cause casualties and losses for personal gain, the future will only be darker. The moment I picked up a weapon, my life belonged to all Eldar, and my mission is to do everything I can.”

Sorshen raised his hand to interrupt Yvraine's next words. Obviously, this warrior from Commorragh could not understand Night Spear's idea of "the world is for all" and code of conduct, but Sorshen could understand.

Why so many Astartes Chapters fight to the last battle brother, because they have something beyond their own and collective interests, selfless and fearless, doing everything they can.

“Mr. Illic is righteous, you are right. No matter what unspeakable secrets Biel-Tan has, they do need help now. The Eternal Court is the first Eldar realm, and there is no reason to stand idly by and watch its own kind die. Only by opening the windows wide can sunlight shine in. Only a country that puts public justice above selfishness can have thousands of honest and kind citizens. Guilio Star Marshal!”

Guilio, wearing a starlight robe, stood up and bowed with his hand on his chest.

“Your subject is here.”

“Order the first detachment of the Tears of Heaven Fleet to go to the star sector where Biel-Tan is located and carry out guard duties.”

“Yes.”

Then Sorshen looked at Night Spear.

“I will have someone send a message to Master Calas Typon, and I will also send some Bonesingers and Soul Wardens to assist in the reconstruction of Biel-Tan.”

Night Spear bowed in salute and said sincerely:

“The people of Biel-Tan will always remember your generosity and kindness, and that of Her Eternal Majesty the Queen.”

But at this time, Sorshen summoned Duran and whispered something to him. Then Duran turned and left. Sorshen smiled and looked at Night Spear and said:

“Mr. Illic, please wait a moment. How do you evaluate Yvraine's actions this time?”

Hearing Sorshen ask this, Night Spear frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and cautiously replied:

“At that time, Biel-Tan's Infinity Circuit had been corrupted. It seemed that there was no second choice other than her method. The seers of Biel-Tan also admitted this, but the seers also suspected why she didn't bring this up earlier, and the subsequent behavior of plundering ancestral souls. As for me... I'm not sure when Yvraine arrived in Biel-Tan, but if she had arrived earlier, it would have been better to join the Ursulia battle to prevent daemons from entering the Craftworld. The warnings from the Midnight Sorrow Troupe also seem too brief...”
