The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#2769 - Old friends reunited

The flying head crashed into the metal ceiling, creating a loud sound. The Beastmen were in chaos. Dazzling flashes of light shot out from the smoke of the explosions, and the hit mutants twisted and fell on the filthy floor. Black blood splattered everywhere from their cracked, self-made armor.

".Special Cleaning Operation, Code I-11128, Target: Mutants."

In the monotonous, mechanical echoing sound, the Ur-Ludd's Redemptionists rushed in, while the Rust Stalkers jumped down from the walls like ghosts, their blades drawing precise curves.

Behind the Redemptionists, tall, looming silver figures were constantly firing bolter rounds, accurately sniping the Beastmen.

"Damn it! The prey! There's something wrong with this prey!"

Kardun the Bloodletter immediately realized that there must be a reason why the enemy was able to find the lair. Although it didn't understand things like trajectory locatorsβ€”the Lords of Dominion, facing the intricate terrain of the Midnight Labyrinth and the elusive Beastmen tribes, quickly discovered a characteristic of the Beastmen after suffering some minor losses: they liked to take away the corpses of fallen Redemptionists.

Thus, a plan was born. They first deployed a large number of servo-skulls in the Midnight Labyrinth. These small flying things usually went unnoticed by the Beastmen. Then, they began to install trajectory locators on some 'bait'. These locators were small and sturdy, emitting a weak signal every second, which nearby servo-skulls would receive, subsequently compiling a detailed route map.

Following the route, they could accurately pinpoint the location of the Beastmen tribe's lair.

But now, for the Bloodfiend tribe, it was a matter of survival.

"Annihilate these hoofless ones!"

Kardun the Bloodletter charged straight at the first Redemptionist in front of him, knocking the intruder to the ground.

Then, he raised his corrupted chainaxe and slammed it down on the Redemptionist's head. The saw teeth tore through the red-robed figure's flesh and metal. Next, the Beastlord noticed a Rust Stalker rushing towards him out of the corner of his eye, so he quickly drew the pistol from his belt and pulled the trigger.

The Rust Stalker was agile and dodged the shot, but then a dark energy enveloped it, and a few seconds later, it turned into a pile of smoking scrap metal.

The Beastmen priest was casting sinister sorcery. Countless filthy flies flew out from the surrounding corrupted wreckage, forming a black mist that enveloped the Redemptionist ranks.

"The gods watch over us! Kill them! Devour them!"

The priest was waving his scepter and howling, but the next second, his scepter fell, and he clutched his head. Blood spurted from his bulging eyes.

A huge shadow appeared behind him, grabbed his head with its hand, and then with a crack, brain matter and bone fragments burst from between its fingers.

"Scream, for we have come for you."

The mocking voice made Kardun the Bloodletter turn around, and the first thing he saw was Sabrian's unhelmeted, sneering face.

Sabrian was wearing Midnight Blue, heavy Terminator armor, taller than the Beastmen leader. Behind this armor were wings decorated with blood-red bat wings. Currently, only Sabrian in the Eleventh Company had this honor, as he was the only one who had mastered the use of the Terminator-pattern Incandis plasma jetpack.

Behind him, Sons of Midnight equipped with regular jetpacks landed with a shriek and began their slaughter.

The Redemptionists were not the Night's Maw's only 'cleaning crew'. In fact, the Eleventh Company was more eager to cleanse the legion's former glory. Therefore, even after the fierce battle during the ship capture, they threw themselves into the operation of clearing out the remaining enemies inside the ship with great enthusiasm after a short rest. At this time, most areas of the Night's Maw had been cleared, leaving only the Midnight Labyrinth.

"Why the Night Lords."

Kardun the Bloodletter was stunned when he saw him, momentarily turning to shock and fear, because the color of the other's armor, the long-handled chain glaive in his hand, and the pale face and black eyes all represented the true master of this ship.

".wasn't the Night of the Blade just."

Sabrian just smirked, then ignited the pack on his back. The azure plasma propelled him up, arcing towards the Beastlord hundreds of meters away with terrifying momentum.

Out of fear of the Night Lords, Kardun the Bloodletter turned to run,

But as soon as he took a step, the roaring chain glaive slammed into his broad back.

With the saw teeth digging in, the Beastlord let out a shrill roar, blood and flesh torn from his spine by the spinning teeth.

Sabrian simply exerted a little force, and the weapon pierced through the Beastmen leader's muscles and spine. The fellow collapsed to the ground, dead.

"Company Captain Bakhram, when did you arrive?"

Sabrian threw the corpse away with a flick of his glaive and looked at Bakhram, who had cleaved Saneth the Giant Hand into three pieces. Bakhram pulled the Broken Horn Morningstar from the Beastman's head, then took off his helmet and shook his head as he walked over.

"What, are you being formal with me too?"

"Haha, you're the Company Captain after all."

The two approached each other, then smiled and exchanged a brief embrace.

"I heard your flagship was found, so I came to take a look, and by the way, brought the new recruits here for a derelict ship combat training exercise."

Bakhram pointed to the Tenth Company squad, who were heading to the branch compartments to clear out the remaining enemies, but Sabrian glared at him when he heard his words.

"This isn't just any derelict ship, this is the Night's Maw, the Glory Queen, just like the Avesta."

"Yes, yes, yes, not a derelict ship, my mistake, okay?"

Then Bakhram looked up at the countless skeletons hanging from the ceiling of the compartment.

"It's also strange, why would the Eighth Legion Primarch build a labyrinth on the flagship?"

"Who knows? The Company Captain doesn't want to say, and Senior Kasat doesn't want to mention it either. Anyway, the past doesn't mean anything. The Company Captain said that this labyrinth will be torn down in the future."

"That's right, the history of the Eighth Legion is already in the past. When chatting with the Chapter Master, I heard that you had some personnel losses during this operation? What happened?"

Sabrian sighed softly when he heard this.

"It's those Soul Drinkers who have been opposing the Chapter all along."

Bakhram's eyes widened.

"Them? How did they get out?"

"Who knows? The key is that there are quite a few of them, with a dozen psykers among them. We don't have any Grey Seers here, and some brothers were killed by witchcraft because they weren't prepared and hadn't dealt with psykers before. We'll avenge this grudge."

Bakhram gently bumped the other's chest with his fist.

"Remember to count me in."

"We have to run into them first."

"By the way, where's Li Lin? Why didn't I see him? Is he injured?"

"He's a little injured, but it's nothing serious. But... never mind, I'll take you to find him."

The two walked out of the cave, and along the way, Bakhram also told Sabrian many interesting things that happened during his leadership of the Tenth Company's training.
