The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2870 - Skinning Hysteria (Part 2)
Chapter 2874: The Flayed Hysterical Army (Middle)
Walgul stared intently at his Crowned General, sharing everything he saw with him and issuing instructions.
"Lead your Star Serpent Legion to pry open that small sampan and see what's inside."
The Star Serpent Legion was Arkensa's direct unit. Although the Flayers' insane consciousness made it difficult to form any discipline or organization, relying on the hysteria transmitted by the Flayer Shrine, they formed another form of army. Under the leadership of a higher-ranking member, they fantasized that they were still soldiers of flesh and blood, even engaging in a long war that only existed in their consciousness. Some would go deeper, with their bodies undergoing a certain convergent change, becoming similar to the generals they followed.
This was also one of the peculiar things that Soshyan first discovered about the Flayer Shrine. Perhaps, given time, it would truly forge an independent civilization entirely belonging to the Flayers, even if it was completely insane.
"Hiss... Obey. Pry open... Dig open..."
The moment he turned around, this Flayer Crowned General disappeared on the spot, entering a phased state.
Behind the observation window of the transport ship, Mattingly, who had already felt the vibration of the ship, finally realized they were safe. He went to a small cabin, hugged his wife, and looked at their sleeping child, whispering:
"Everything will be alright."
"So... we can't accept ascension, can we? Dear?"
Mattingly recalled the all-consuming tide of insects and said insincerely:
"Perhaps the Star Emperor has other plans for our destiny..."
"What is that!"
Suddenly, Mattingly heard a terrified cry, so he told his wife to lock the door and ran to the rear deck with his gun. There were observation windows here, and the sound came from here.
He approached one of the observation windows and looked out, discovering a large group of uniquely shaped monsters on the right side of the ship. They were a group of snake-like monsters, or rather, their lower bodies were like snakes, but the edges were full of sharp barbs, covered with fragments and minced meat. Their upper bodies still maintained a human shape, with scythe-like claws. When they moved, the dust they stirred up resembled a storm.
Following closely behind them were ghost ships floating in the sky, filled with the corpses and flesh of the dead, like ghostly ghost ships. When these strange vehicles fired, streaks of deep green arcs would streak through the air. They swept across the sky and the ground, jumping from one angel to another, the energy bursting out of their chests, killing hundreds of Tyranid units in the blink of an eye.
At the same time, accompanied by the loud noise of buildings being knocked down, a large number of Warrior Bugs and Carnifexes poured into this killing field, leaping and charging between the slippery ground and broken corpses.
Then, a fierce battle broke out under Mattingly's gaze.
The Termagants moved around under the feet of the large Tyranid creatures, using flesh-eating guns to riddle the Flayers' skin with holes, but those metal monsters were indifferent to the maggots crawling all over them. Moreover, even the psychic shock masks emitted by the high-altitude Tyranid Norn Queens seemed to have no effect on these creatures.
"Offer sacrifices to the Crimson God!"
The metal hiss emitted by the Crowned General transmitted like a signal across the battlefield. This huge lord directly launched an attack on the largest Tyranid Warrior among them, its claws tearing a wound in its side.
As a commander, Arkensa had noticed the other side's leader long ago. This was a being taller than the surrounding fallen "half-dragon" servants, wearing heavy dark purple armor, with four very strong arms, holding two huge gem-filled scimitars and a heavy long-range weapon.
Of course, this was what he "saw." In fact, this was a Warrior Prime, also considered by the Biovores to be the pinnacle of Tyranid Warrior evolution, possessing higher intelligence than ordinary Tyranids. When commanding other Warrior Bugs, they would act as a whole, possessing tactics and precision unmatched by regular commanders. Only when there were higher-level Tyranid creatures nearby would the Prime hand over the synaptic command, otherwise, it could easily transform a group of Tyranid creatures into an efficient fighting force.
The injured Warrior Prime demonstrated its highly flexible body, first jumping back, then sweeping its tail horizontally, knocking the surrounding small creatures aside.
After escaping the Crowned General's attack range, it immediately raised the bio-weapon in its hand and aimed it at the deadly opponent's head. Then, the air between the muzzle and the target flickered and roared, and the deadly venom crystals spewed by the venom cannon swept in like a storm.
However, the Crowned General disappeared directly on the spot, and the Warrior Prime even showed a very human-like "stunned" movement.
Then, its claws tore open its back armor, and two long whips wrapped in green arcs wrapped around its neck.
Under the severe pain, the Warrior Prime twitched even more violently, trying to甩开 the enemy behind it, but in the next second, with the last twitch of the long whip, the Warrior Prime's head rolled off its neck, and its body slumped down, finally dead.
But a violent tremor attracted the Crowned General's attention. He threw down the enemy's corpse and turned his head to look, discovering a huge "Dragon Man." It was covered in extremely thick yellow-purple segmented armor, wearing a horned helmet, with evil dragon totems painted on its body. Its four arms held two huge swords spewing fire and two heavy hammers wrapped in arcs, and it was sweeping away his knights.
More than a dozen Star Serpent Knights had tragically fallen victim to this Dragon Man, their corpses and mounts scattered around. Although some of them could be resurrected with the grace of the Crimson God, some were permanently lost, which ignited Arkensa's strong fighting spirit.
In fact, this was a Lictor, a special breed evolved by the Tyranids to deal with unique metal enemies. Targeting the Flayers, whose main attack method was close combat, the armor thickness of this Lictor was nearly twice that of a normal Lictor, increasing its defense exponentially at the cost of some flexibility. At the same time, its weapons were also changed to a pair of crushing pincers and a pair of giant scythe claws, enough to cause devastating damage to the living metal body.
"For the Crimson God! For the Bone Dynasty!"
After rarely emitting a complete roar, he agilely rushed towards the opponent close to the ground. Before this special Lictor could react, he took advantage of the situation and stabbed the blade from bottom to top, the phase weapon breaking through the armor that could resist gauss rifles and deeply buried into the monster's belly.
The monster howled, its huge body frantically trampling everything around it. The Crowned General immediately entered a phased state, quietly coming to the side in the warp, and then the claws struck out like lightning, repeatedly piercing its flank.
The Lictor turned its head, angrily trying to crush the damned enemy with its crushing pincers, but the Crowned General agilely dodged and moved away, somersaulting in the air and landing heavily on the ground.
In the next second, four bladed limbs slammed heavily towards his position, and he had to dodge again.
Another Lictor attacked. It was also specialized in defense, but the weapons were a pair of bone blades and a pair of giant scythe claws, with a row of meat hooks on its flank.
