This planet seemed to have been drained dry, involuntarily reminding Soryan of the Star Gods' power to absorb the energy of planets and even stars. Perhaps this planet was the remnant after being devoured by a Star God.
A group of monsters feeding on remnants, dwelling on a remnant planet, was undeniably a cruel black humor.
At the planet's geographic pole stood the only city on the planet, stretching for thousands of miles. However, upon crossing the city walls, it bore no resemblance to a city at all. This place, like the plains surrounding it, was a bizarre, pale white. Towers and temples were adorned with all sorts of bones and remains, occasionally interspersed with towering blackstone spires. Various Flayers shuffled along the streets with slow steps, like mindless, walking corpses.
In the center of the city stood a magnificent pillared hall with tall, glassless windows on both sides. It was also the largest building on this planet. Soryan flew like a whirlwind over the heads of the Flayers, passing through the grand and unparalleled halls. At this moment, a simple white throne at the end of the hall was occupied by a mumbling, mad king, but he immediately stood up when he saw the scarlet whirlwind.
"My Bone Lord, how have you been lately?"
When Soryan solidified into form before the throne, no one would have imagined that he would appear in the distant Ghoul Stars in an instant, standing amidst a foul feast of shattered bones and skin.
"My Lord!"
Valgul shifted his massive body, kneeling cautiously before Soryan, clad in blood-red armor.
"To see Your Excellency again, I am deeplyβ"
"Alright, spare the flattery. How is the Orosk Dynasty doing?"
Valgul cautiously raised his head, then said in a fearful voice incongruent with his size:
"They..."
"What about them? Speak plainly."
"We've made contact, but they claim to have some problems... Yeneek was welcomed by them, but someone is watching them."
Yeneek. Soryan looked at a particularly tall Flayer not far from Valgul, who seemed to be trying hard to maintain his posture. He didn't quite understand what kind of friendship existed between Flayers, but Valgul seemed to trust this individual very much.
"And then?"
"They sent an envoy..."
"Take me there."
Perhaps Soryan himself didn't realize that when he transformed into a Flayer avatar, his demeanor and behavior were vastly different from usual.
Having said that, he didn't act. Valgul then led the guards to a side passage of the palace. After passing through a corridor, they arrived at a small square where a group of Flayers were tearing apart the corpses of several Tyranid Carnifexes.
Valgul looked at one of them. This Flayer looked more slender, but had four arms and carried a dirty banner made of the skin of some unknown creature on its back. The banner had a vague symbol, and this Flayer also wore a "wig" made of dried intestines or some other biological organ tissue on its head. When it turned around, it was still smacking its lips with already rotten Tyranid flesh.
"Ah, generous Bone King, thank you for providing the dinner. This chef's craftsmanship is excellent, and the food is very unique."
"Kampus, my lord hasβ"
Suddenly, a scarlet whirlwind swept from behind Valgul and directly swept the screaming envoy into the air.
In an instant, a large hand pinched its head, staring at its flickering red eyes.
"Now, you have seen me, so what did the King of Orosk tell you to say?"
Kampus, suspended in mid-air by Soryan, opened its mandibles, emitting a series of intermittent metallic hisses.
"Crimson God I...I..."
Realizing that this Flayer's consciousness was beginning to beη΄δΉ±, Soryan slowly descended and then released his hand.
"The King of Orosk certainly doesn't believe it, right? But now you've seen it, so tell me, the reply."
"I need to report to my lord... Please Crimson God..."
"I am about to begin the next Great Hunt. If Orosk wishes to obtain more flesh, join in."
Hearing the word flesh, the envoy's originally dim eyes immediately lit up.
"Of course! Of course!"
Soryan turned to look at Valgul.
"But that area is located in the Howling Vortex. Do you know any way to get there?"
"Howling Vortex?"
A look akin to confusion appeared on Valgul's metallic face, while the envoy named Kampus scratched its wig.
"What is that place?"
Soryan pondered for a moment, realizing that the Necrons might not know about the place formed after the Great Fall, and then changed his words:
"It used to be a place where the ancient enemy created life, once destroyed, and later occupied by the Aeldari."
Upon hearing this, Valgul slapped his head.
"So it's the Ancient Ones' lair! This place... wasn't it destroyed?"
"No, now it has become a gap between the Immaterium and the material universe. Our hunt will begin there, but the power of the Immaterium interferes with the Flayer shrines."
"My Lord, your humble servant knows of a Tomb World gate that can reach there!"
Valgul exclaimed excitedly, seemingly stimulated by the upcoming bloody hunt. Then he summoned his civil administrator, a Flayer named Parekh.
Soryan had never delved too deeply into the past of this Bone Lord, but judging from the fact that he firmly remembered the names of every key subordinate, he should be a lord who valued his subordinates, or rather, used to be?
"My Lord, look."
When the somewhat distorted civil administrator opened a circular device, a star map was displayed. However, the Necron star map was very different from that of humans, and Soryan couldn't make heads or tails of it. He only saw geometric figures changing on it.
"Hmm... so you can go directly to the Howling Vortex?"
"You can go to a nearby area, and then use warships to quickly move to the vicinity. In the past, there used to be several lines of attack here, but most of them were damaged due to war and time. Only this most remote one has been preserved."
"I see, then..."
Soryan turned to look at Kampus.
"Tell your lord to send a force to participate in this hunt, and I will help you deal with those watchers in the future."
"Yes, yes, yes, I will report back immediately!"
Watching this group of Flayers leave quickly, Soryan stared at the Tyranid corpses they had torn to pieces. Perhaps he would never be able to understand the world in the eyes of these Flayers.
Madness? Or is this the truth?
It seems that in the end, this galaxy is indeed the feeding plate of those beings in the Warp called gods.
Blinking, throwing away those messy thoughts, Soryan said in a low voice:
"Bone Lord, beat the war drums, raise the battle flags, there will soon be a more magnificent hunt. This time our prey is the servants of the Dark Gods."
"Yes! My Lord, thank you for bringing such a glorious hunt!"
