The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#2953 - The Mad King and the Demon (Part 1)
"A sacrifice, offered to the eternal Crimson God!"
Just as Fiona raised the Phantom Warrior's head, still bearing a look of terror, a Doomsday Scythe swept across the sky, its wailing shriek tearing through the heavens. The trails of fallen Hell Blades and various aircraft marked the ghastly green sky.
"Damn it, where did these Necrons come from!"
Danzeng Zunzhu stood on the ramparts of Evil Luo Sea City, his facial muscles twitching as he stared at the scythe-shaped fighters that were slaughtering the legion's aircraft in the sky. The expressions of those around him were equally grim.
After all, it had only been two hours since the invasion alarm was raised, and they had already lost almost all of their warships in orbit, eighty percent of their aircraft on the ground, and contact with over half of their residences and strongholds.
To reduce losses, a support team of over a thousand people was sent to aid the eighteen tribal leaders around Evil Luo Sea City, hoping to establish an outer defense line. However, those sent out either suffered heavy losses or were completely annihilated, and it seemed the eighteen tribal leaders couldn't hold out either.
But one question lingered in the minds of the Phantom Warriors.
Where did these Necrons come from?
Because there had been almost no sightings of Necrons near the Screaming Vortex, let alone attacks. Throughout history, there had been no trace of this evil alien race in this area.
In this situation, the Black Palace issued an order for full-scale war preparation. All Void Shield Generators were activated, weapon systems were fully powered up, and all Spirit Towers were guarded, while signals were sent to other worlds, summoning fleets and troops stationed elsewhere to return to the capital.
Of course, if the worst-case scenario occurred, that is, if the ramparts of Evil Luo Sea City were breached, then all Spirit Towers and the Four Palaces would be activated, opening a Warp rift and summoning countless daemons to fight the enemy. However, doing so would essentially destroy this carefully cultivated nest, as daemons are indiscriminate.
"Who knows? This Screaming Vortex hasn't produced anything like this in tens of thousands of years..."
Someone muttered, then picked up a data slate.
"Have the new recruits been settled?"
"Yes, they have."
"A lot of people died this time. The legion has worked hard for so many years to build up this family fortune, and it's likely to suffer heavy losses after today."
Just then, everyone in the Phantom Legion felt a pressure. They turned around and saw a surge of energy erupt from the four palaces of purple, red, blue, and green, converging with the black light from the Black Palace, shooting straight into the sky towards the Necron warships in orbit.
"The Heart-Eater King has made his move!"
But the next moment, a more powerful beam of dark green light crashed down from the sky, dispersing the vast and unparalleled Warp energy. The energy of both sides clashed, creating a terrifyingly magnificent spectacle in the sky.
After a few seconds of stalemate, both energies dissipated together.
Then, a metallic laughter echoed. A towering black obelisk slowly descended, its size comparable to the largest palace in Evil Luo Sea City. It was surrounded by six smaller obelisks, with Bone Lord Vargul standing on his chariot, accompanied by floating Ghost Arks, Tomb Blades, and countless constructs. Both vehicles and drivers had undergone severe mutations, but were also more deadly.
In response, Evil Luo Sea City unleashed its planetary-level defensive firepower, with heavy laser arrays and plasma cannons weaving a rain of death.
However, this wild energy was transformed into streams of energy flowing into the top of the obelisk in front of the Doomsday Obelisk's phase energy generator.
"Fire!"
Vargul pointed forward, and the huge energy matrix crystal at the top of the Doomsday Obelisk released devastating antimatter lightning arcs. This energy was so vast that it looked like a tide to the naked eye.
In the blink of an eye, the world lost its color, the sun and moon dimmed, and Evil Luo Sea City trembled violently. This demonic palace, which had enslaved billions of creatures, showed its fragile side for the first time in front of the enemy. As layers of shields were annihilated one after another, a gap of over four hundred meters appeared in the outer ramparts of Evil Luo Sea City, and one-fifth of the defensive main guns were destroyed or damaged in the attack.
The terrifying power stunned the Phantom Warriors. They had thought their home was impregnable, but it had been easily torn apart like cardboard. It should be noted that Evil Luo Sea City's defense standards were built according to the requirement of "being able to withstand orbital bombardment."
"The Crimson God commands! Kill every living thing! Kill!"
The moment Vargul issued the order, all the obelisks, including the Eternal Gate of the Doomsday Obelisk, opened, and tens of thousands of Flayed Ones poured out. After landing, they surged towards Evil Luo Sea City along the steep and rugged terrain like a metal tide. The vehicles and troops in the sky also quickly flew towards the city, while the obelisks continued to suppress Evil Luo Sea City's defenses with firepower.
At the same time, the Star Serpent and Dark Mosquito legions also teleported here, joining the general attack.
Fierce fighting began. Night Scythe fighter squadrons also screamed across the sky above Evil Luo Sea City, dropping a rain of death below. The bursting lightning they emitted could cause terrible damage to living targets, burning their flesh, melting their armor, and boiling their blood. Even Phantom Warriors protected by psionic energy were not immune.
For the Phantom Legion, the real nightmare had begun. The vast majority of them had no experience fighting Necrons. Although the colorful witchcraft shattered or melted many Flayed Ones, it was far less effective than against biological targets. More terrifying was that the open Eternal Gate of the obelisk kept spewing out a torrent of death, seemingly endless.
At the same time, various constructs also joined the siege. Those spiky, long-legged Flayed Pylon Spiders led endless swarms of Deathmarks, devouring everything in their path.
"Kill!"
Vargul drove his chariot into the ramparts, waving his twin-bladed scepter. A group of Phantom Warriors tried to attack him with psionic energy, but it was negated by the Shadow Amulet. Then, this group was wiped off the ramparts by a shot from a distant Doomsday Ark. As for Vargul's guards, they stayed on the Ghost Ark, waiting for their lord's instructions.
Soon, they were released and joined the slaughter.
These strongest Flayed Ones fought madly like hurricanes. They carried no blades and needed no weapons. Their claws severed limbs, and their sharp maws easily bit through enemies' throats. The Phantom Warriors and their servants fought back with chainswords, axes, and hammers. The enemy knocked down some warriors, cut open their bodies made of living metal, and crushed them with psionic energy, then trampled their corpses underfoot.
