Chapter 3018: The Pro-Xenos Faction
Although political disagreements and struggles were gradually surfacing, the political situation in the Eternal Court was currently relatively stable. This was thanks to the ever-consolidating authority of the Eternal Queen, the increasingly sacred power of the Phoenix King, and the strong bond between them. Furthermore, the trust that both monarchs placed in Dolor further solidified their unshakeable political position.
However, trust could also be undermined, especially as many believed that Sunscourge, the Sunstar Luminary, was receiving ever-increasing favor within the Outer Court.
"We don't need any special actions. Just follow the Prince's decree and draw the attention of the Ravenous Wyrm's fleet."
Ivarahn's words were vague yet impeccable. Patricia couldn't find any grounds for rebuttal and instead asked:
"How long will the operation last?"
"Three Court Days."
"That's too long. There will be too many uncertainties. The number of Ravenous Wyrms is too vast. It's equivalent to putting Her Majesty's safety at risk. I think one Court Day at most."
"This is the decision of the Prince and Her Majesty, Lady Patricia. Disobeying is not the way of a subject."
"Advising is also the way of a subject, rather than letting the monarch act on a whim, Minister Ivarahn."
Suddenly, Sunscourge raised a hand, signaling the two to stop arguing. Then, he pointed to a glittering crystal, which represented an urgent message.
".High Councilor, there is a message from a human, marked with the signal of the Imperial Inquisition, and also includes an unidentifiable mark."
Ivarahn frowned, but Lorena spoke up first.
"That's probably the so-called Alien Hunters. We've had plenty of .dealings with them in the past. Does Your Highness have any instructions?"
Ivarahn shook his head.
"No additional instructions, only to avoid contact with humans unless absolutely necessary."
"Then we should ignore it."
But Sunscourge expressed a different view.
"Given the radical attitude of human Inquisitors, they wouldn't contact us unless it was for pointless insults, so they must have some purpose. Also, I want to see that unidentifiable mark."
Soon, the mark appeared: a burning triangle with a weeping eye in the middle.
Sunscourge narrowed his eyes, staring at the symbol.
"It seems familiar .wait, isn't that the symbol of the Usurian Enclave?"
Hearing Sunscourge say that, the others looked closely. Then Patricia nodded slightly, and said softly:
"It does look very similar .what does this represent?"
"I've heard that Eldrad Ulthran, the Grand Farseer of Ulthwe, has had very close ties with the Imperium, even suffering criticism because of it. Is it related to this person?"
Morganna, who hadn't spoken until now, suddenly spoke, her voice as hoarse as sandpaper.
"That old bastard loves to play puppet shows. He has planted many spies and pawns in the Imperium. This is probably one of them."
Sunscourge pondered for a moment, then said to the others:
"Then I'll talk to him and see if he's one of Eldrad's puppets."
No one objected, so Sunscourge went to the Tower of Vaul's Whisper, which was guarded by the White Lions and held the secret to the War Palace's undisturbed psychic network and communications. Even though the Tyranid shadow was exceptionally strong here, it couldn't interfere with this device specifically designed to counter the Necron's null matrix.
In a bone-sealed chamber within the Tower of Vaul's Whisper, the Seer connected to the distant message.
After a period of interference, an image appeared on the bone wall: a dimly lit room, and a face mostly hidden in shadow, revealing only a broad chin and some stubble.
"I didn't think the noble Eternal Court would accept this communication, so I took the risk of including a secret society symbol. May I ask who I am speaking with?"
Sunscourge clasped his hands behind his back, a faint smile on his scarred face.
"You are speaking with Eldoras Sunscourge, Sunstar Luminary of the Eternal Court."
"Oh, the famous Sunscourge Seer. It's astonishing that you've joined the Eternal Court. It seems the secret society's intelligence sources are too limited."
"And you?"
"Skaman Havas, Inquisitor of the Recongregation, and a member of the Isha Witches Covenant."
"The Isha Witches Covenant .concocted by Eldrad? I've heard of it. In that so-called Recongregation, there exists a faction of .how should I put it? Pro-xenos individuals? But this is the first time I've actually met one."
"I don't find it strange. Most people in the Imperium are trapped in a stubborn, blind fanaticism, firmly believing that everything about humanity is flawless, while ignoring the fact that humanity has been rotting since the Great Crusade. For ten thousand years, we've been stagnating. We could learn so much from other races in the galaxy, but we stubbornly believe that so-called 'purity' is the best. As a result, humanity has never improved. We can't continue to be so blind. Only by cooperating with other races can humanity defeat the true enemies of all sentient life. Neither the Warp, nor the Orks, nor the Tyranids can be defeated by humanity's current strength alone. Understanding and cooperation are the true forces that can advance humanity."
"Wow, a rare mindset. Even I, who has lived for thousands of years, am surprised. But you haven't answered my question. Did Eldrad organize you?"
"The Farseer is just an instigator. We cooperate with him to exchange critical intelligence that can save many people, and also solve some .procedural problems for him."
"I understand. So Inquisitor Skaman's arrival in this star system, which is about to be devoured by the Ravenous Wyrm, is probably not a coincidence, right?"
"The secret society heard whispers about the Eternal Court more than a decade ago. We've always wanted to contact this emerging force, especially my mentor, Arcturus the 'Hound of Seven Sorrows'. He hopes to establish a stable connection with the Eternal Court and develop a cooperative plan on how to save the galaxy and combat the horrors of the Warp and the void. But after losing contact with the Grand Farseer for the past fifty years, the secret society's information channels have been severely limited. In addition, some unfriendly Inquisitorial factions seem to have targeted the secret society, so we can only lie low for now and try to obtain useful information by promoting public investigations. After the news of the Carcharodons being rescued by the Eternal Court fleet, I was entrusted by the secret society to contact the Eternal Court. The original plan was to accuse and judge the Carcharodons, drawing out the Eternal Court, but that plan was interrupted by Solhjan Aleksejev, so I can only continue to stay in this war zone and see if the Eternal Court will appear again."
"Ha."
Sunscourge chuckled, then joked:
"You knew the Eternal Court was going to save the Carcharodons, and you still planned to judge them. Aren't you afraid that one day, your head will be taken in your sleep?"
