The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3077 - Falling Insect Killer
"Die, bug!"
Kicking aside the dead warrior bug, Haughm fought his way out of the close combat, striding towards the right, as the company commander had just assigned him a target—a Hive Tyrant frantically attacking the Deathwatch.
It was rampaging across the battlefield, wielding massive bone sabers and a long whip, with the broken bodies of two black-armored warriors already lying at its feet. The Tyrant seemed extremely excited, its tongue lolling from its bloody maw, saliva dripping.
Opposing it was the warrior named Nulrus, Haughm vaguely remembered, but not clearly, while the Watch Fortress Master lay dying in the pile of corpses.
Not only Haughm came to support, but also two other Terminators, and facing the approaching new opponents, the Tyrant Guard reacted first.
Despite their massive size, these beasts were still very fast, lunging at the Terminators threatening the Hive Tyrant at the first opportunity.
Haughm dodged a massive claw while jogging, then slashed a long gash with his power sword into the rubbery flesh between the chitinous gaps, instantly coating the blade with foul-smelling mucus, but Haughm didn't care about the nasty odors.
This beast was very clumsy. He came to its side and continued to stab with his sword, but the Tyrant Guard's vitality was exceptionally resilient and it felt no pain. It quietly extended a clawed hand, the movement almost gentle, then a flesh whip with arcs of psychic energy extended from the claw, coiling towards Haughm's waist like spurting vines.
However, the moment the psychic tendrils wrapped around Haughm, a jolt of pain struck deep into the simple and savage mind of the Tyrant Guard.
The roar turned into a heart-wrenching shriek of pain, interrupting the song. Black flames crawled along the tendrils like burrs onto the Tyrant Guard's carapace, penetrating the chitin and flesh, seemingly to burn out its internal organs.
A sense of fullness echoed in Haughm's heart, which was also why he could fight tirelessly. Praised by Mark as a talented Grey Warden, he could already draw on the enemy's life energy through the Greymarrow in battle, even without that unique spear, and the biggest characteristic of the Tyranids was their abundant life energy.
Haughm stepped forward and grabbed the beast, plunging his sword deep into its flesh as it struggled, allowing the disruption field to tear apart everything inside.
But the Tyrant Guard was indeed resilient. Even so, it still tried to strike Haughm with its claws. The Terminator disengaged, leaving a small plasma grenade inside its body.
With a roar, half of the Tyrant Guard's body was torn open, the entire body collapsing to the ground.
Haughm didn't linger, nor did he look to see if his comrades had dealt with the other guards. Instead, he strode forward, charging from behind as the Tyrant used its sword to knock Nulrus to his knees, plunging his sword into both sides of its rubbery body.
The Tyrant, in pain, turned its head to strike him. Haughm withdrew his sword, blocking the bone blade on its arm, but the enormous force still made his Terminator armor creak.
Just then, Nulrus, who had been half-kneeling on the ground and seemed exhausted, suddenly stood up and leaped with great speed, climbing onto the Tyrant along its spine.
As the warrior in battered armor struggled through the swirling heat rising from the chimneys on the Tyrant's back, the Tyrant began to shake violently, but Haughm gave it no chance, hacking at the Tyrant's arm joints with his sword. Under the effect of the disruption field, the chitin cracked and peeled off, and the root-like muscles blackened from the energy's ravages.
Nulrus grabbed the Tyrant's chimney, and just as he was about to strike, the chimneys on the Tyrant's back burst open with a pop, sparks flying like smoke.
But this mysterious Deathwatch would not give it a chance. He stabilized himself in a very short time, ignoring the acid fumes that corroded his armor with a sizzling sound, gripped his blade in both hands, and forcefully stabbed into the Tyrant's nape, watching its flesh and bone tear apart.
The Tyrant roared and stumbled backward, still trying to shake off the trouble on its back.
Haughm rushed forward, punching the Tyrant's knee with a thud, then cleaving open the Tyrant's belly from bottom to top with a sword. The beast finally crashed down, but Nulrus didn't pull out his sword until long after it stopped writhing.
"Thank you."
Although the other party's voice was cold, Haughm knew that most Deathwatch were like this. He glanced at Vidrian and asked:
"How is the Fortress Master?"
"He is making his final prayers to the Emperor, hoping to kill another alien before returning to the Golden Throne."
"We will not die."
Nulrus did not answer, but looked back at the Apothecary who was collecting the gene-seed of the fallen warriors, and then looked at the ranks of the Star Knights.
"The Star Knights are very tenacious, in all respects."
Haughm could not fail to hear the implication in the other party's words. In such a fierce battle, the Chapter actually had very few casualties, because the warriors of the First and Ninth Companies were basically implanted with Greymarrow, and would only die from truly devastating damage.
Other things, such as being pierced through the chest by two ripping claws, or being cut in half at the waist, would not kill them at all.
But every Chapter has its own secrets. Haughm felt that these people couldn't see through them, after all, the battlefield was so chaotic.
"As long as we find the Chapter Master, we can evacuate."
"If you want to evacuate, I suggest you do it as soon as possible."
Nulrus restrained the words that followed, knowing that saying them would enrage the other party. Haughm just snorted and turned around.
As a result, he was about to greet a comrade who had already dealt with the Tyrant Guard when he heard an ominous sound.
A devastating burst of green flame erupted from the poisonous fog, bioplasma burning through the Tyrant Guard and a nearby Space Marine in Terminator armor. The explosion threw the surrounding wreckage aside like bugs.
"Cassira!"
Haughm watched his comrade erased from where he stood. A second ago, he was standing there, and the next second he disappeared.
Then a shadow loomed over them. It was the shadow of a Bio-Titan. Its roar almost knocked Nulrus to the ground. (Canned 2 lacks a grand scene without the Hierophant)
The behemoth strode over, aiming its huge fleshy limbs, similar to weapons, at Haughm and the others. This was the main source of casualties for the Star Knights. The Hierophant's main cannon could instantly kill a Grey Warden, and completely kill them.
Before, when they encountered this thing, they would call in gunships to solve it. So far, two had been dealt with, but now the gunships were probably not coming.
Just as Haughm slowly retreated, Nulrus also turned to run towards Vidrian, wanting to take the Fortress Master away, and the Titan's main cannon was already charging up.
Something fell from the sky at an extremely fast speed, like a bullet, directly piercing the Hierophant's alloy-hard chitinous armor from the back, piercing through the body, and directly tearing the massive Titan from the waist.
As the Hierophant wailed and crashed down, Haughm's eyes widened.
He saw it, standing on the wreckage of the Hierophant, not stained with a drop of blood, holding Skyfire, the silver figure, excitedly raising his hands high.
"It's the Chapter Master! It's the Chapter Master! The Chapter Master is back!!!!"
