The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3079 - The Dynasty of Eternal
Although they successfully reached the landing zone without any casualties, the battle was far from over. What followed was a difficult defense, as they had to wait for the arrival of the short-man fleet. The Tyranids were like a world-drowning flood, surging over the rugged mountains and sweeping in from all directions.
But with Sorkarion there, everyone had a pillar of support. Three Stormbirds were ordered to take off and join the battle.
At this time, Sorkarion also learned about the situation of the gunship squadron. In the battle against the massive Tyranid aerial creatures, they lost 2 Stormravens and 1 Stormhawk. Another Stormhawk had to land due to engine damage, but fortunately, it was within the landing zone and was currently undergoing emergency repairs.
The battle entered a white-hot phase from the very beginning. When the Space Marines ran out of bullets, they used swords, and when the swords broke, they used their fists.
Chitin clashed with plasteel, anger intertwined with malice. A line of roaring Warrior Bugs led countless Termagants in a fierce assault. They charged towards the Terminators with the force of thunder, but were immediately swept away by blades and shields. In the sky, gunships circled and swooped over the battlefield on the rising thermals, firing crackling ammunition at the Tyranid hordes below, and easily eliminating the gargoyles and harpies that gathered like dark clouds.
Everyone fought hard, for honor, for survival.
Except for one person.
Sorkarion fought to keep as many warriors alive as possible.
The battle seemed to disrupt the entire world, or perhaps the world itself was falling apart. As the ground cracked open, flames shot straight into the storm-ravaged sky, and light faded in the smoke-filled haze. The Tyranid construct-tower high above underwent an even more astonishing transformation. It pierced through the atmosphere, and the six Tyranid satellites slowly disintegrated, revealing giant jellyfish-like creatures that moved closer to each other, extending their tentacles to envelop the remaining part of the tower.
With incredible speed, they coalesced into a massive Tyranid bio-ship floating in orbit, its scale surpassing anything Sorkarion had ever seen, even the Hive Ships.
Even standing on the ground, one could witness its terrifying grandeur. However, it seemed to disdain everything on the ground, flinging its tentacles as it slowly drifted into the deeper reaches of space.
While Sorkarion was fighting fiercely on the surface of the near-shattered planet, in the dark void of space, a ray of light suddenly twisted, and then an asteroid floating at the edge of the galaxy suddenly shattered, as if some enormous force had exploded it from the inside.
Immediately afterward, a large number of gravitational flow phenomena suddenly appeared near the star of the Sandhelm system. In less than ten minutes, this still very young star violently ejected streams of charged particles and radiation into space, forming a series of massive solar flares. The star's fury was so intense that many Tyranid bio-ships in the galaxy that were relatively close were instantly reduced to ashes.
In the midst of the violent solar storm, a fleet of jet-black ships appeared, composed of a large number of black scythe-shaped and spear-shaped vessels, led by an incredibly magnificent and gigantic Tomb Ship. Their ships were all engraved with a proud symbol, a symbol representing an ancient dynasty, a ruling clan of eternal lineage—the mysterious Szarekh Dynasty.
Since the ancient War in Heaven, the Szarekh Dynasty has been pivotal among the Necrons. All Silent Kings have been members of this dynasty, including the current and last one, Szarekh. More strangely, the history of the Szarekh Dynasty is full of discrepancies and contradictions. Even the most senior Necron scholars do not know when the Szarekh Dynasty began to form or how long they have been awake. No one can give a definite answer. Even more strangely, no Necron can maintain focus long enough to explore the answers to the history of the Szarekh Dynasty.
Yet now, they appeared in this remote galaxy.
As if anticipating the challenge, the massive Hive Ship summoned all the bio-ships in and near the galaxy, as if encountering a mortal enemy.
But the speed of Necron ships was not as easily 'negotiated' as that of human ships. A large number of Raiders swarmed out like a pack of wolves, ruthlessly tearing apart bio-ships dozens of times their size. The Tyranid bio-ships' already poor maneuverability was now undoubtedly clumsy, like livestock trapped by predatory beasts. Their turning, even their weapons, could not keep up with the Necron ships' terrifying speed.
The Hive Mind's reaction strategy was simple: cluster together.
Gather the bio-ships together as much as possible to form a high-density cluster, a common strategy for many small marine creatures and terrestrial herbivores when facing fierce and fast predators.
The Tyranids, who styled themselves as the Great Devourer, were merely the hunted when facing the Necrons.
But the effect of this strategy was often not very ideal. The Necron small ships darted back and forth in the void with incredible maneuverability, like seabirds coming to feast, while the larger ships escorted the Tomb Ship, sailing solemnly and inviolably through the center of the slaughter, destroying everything that approached.
The massive Hive Ship also retaliated, with a row of huge holes in its head. After a spasm of muscles, high-intensity bio-plasma roared out, striking the Necron flagship directly.
But these shots either missed or were dissipated by the Tomb Ship's powerful energy defenses.
What followed was a deadly counterattack. Crossfire composed of gauss lightning and particle whips disintegrated the Hive Ship's entire head. Even chitinous armor dozens of meters thick was useless, while the fire from other Harvest Ships wove a net of death, using lightning arc projectors and particle whips to attack the creatures surrounding the Hive Ship.
The destruction of the Tyranid bio-ships was calculated almost in seconds. Hundreds of them died, many without even making a single effective attack.
While the Necron fleet was frantically slaughtering the Tyranid bio-ships, on the distant edge of the galaxy, a small fleet quietly entered the galaxy and headed towards Sandhelm V.
"...Those crude, primitive dwarves are like rodents in dark corners."
The vast central chamber of the Tomb Ship "Dirge of Annihilation" was like a cold cellar. Above this grim and frigid space was the black pyramid of the Tomb Ship's main body, spanning over a thousand meters. Cold, thin mist permeated the area, and rows of whispering sarcophagi were surrounded by ghostly light. In the center was a circle of eerie obelisks. A huge platform stood between the sarcophagi, and a tall and majestic Necron Overlord stood on it, examining the massive amount of information in a circular crystal ball. The cold, green light illuminated his slightly sharp metal face and the body inlaid with jewels and various gold ornaments. A dark metal cloak hung behind him, and a magnificent double-bladed scepter was suspended behind him by floating scarabs.
His subordinates stood quietly in their respective positions, with only the Destroyer Lords occasionally making sharp friction sounds, but no one cared, because they knew that these mad warriors were almost impossible to calm down.
