The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3317 - Storm of Amalur (Part 9)

Seeing the armored units pouring out of the enemy fortress, General Crown realized he had been tricked, but his pride would not allow such a thing to happen!

"Advance!"

Braving the deadly artillery fire, the Menak Dynasty's army began to accelerate, and at the same time, the pyramid's teleportation gate emitted an ominous ghostly light once more, with a large number of Necron infantry emerging from it.

The two sides soon engaged in fierce fighting, with the roar of the Doomstalker tanks' main guns becoming the prelude to this dance of destruction. Their primary target was the Necrons' vehicles, especially the slower Annihilation Barges.

Armor-piercing rounds were fired at the barges, and although they possessed quantum shields that could withstand some of the shots, the quantum shields could not be used again for a period of time after being used due to the large number of enemies. As a result, these extremely threatening barges were destroyed one after another under the impact of the armored units, and their somewhat clumsy movement made it difficult for them to escape the tanks' main gun fire in a short period of time.

In response, some surviving Annihilation Barges also attacked the human tank clusters. Wild arcs of electricity swept across the battlefield, and some tanks that were speeding along suddenly stopped, but soon continued to move - in order to counter the Necrons' Tesla weapons, all Doomstalker tanks had extra anti-energy composite armor.

However, when the obelisks' particle whips swept over, the tanks had no ability to resist. Dozens of tanks at the front instantly turned into rolling, burning wreckage, and some even had their turrets blown off.

But this could not stop the angry iron torrent. At the same time, the armored vehicle formations following closely behind the tank formations began to strafe the sky, blocking the nimble alien motorcycles, while unloading the infantry from the vehicle compartments.

The elite auxiliaries from the Eleventh Legion left the vehicle compartments and immediately formed skirmish lines under the command of officers, and began to follow the tanks to attack the enemy's infantry ranks. Further back, the Wyvern self-propelled mortar carriers fired EMP mortars specifically targeting Necrons into the depths of the enemy infantry ranks. These mortars could release powerful electromagnetic pulses, which could not interfere with advanced Necron units, but could disrupt their cannon fodder infantry.

This was also the tactic that Talos believed was most suitable for fighting Necrons. Long-range artillery bombardment combined with extreme close combat could greatly reduce the Necrons' own long-range firepower advantage, overwhelming the enemy with pure numbers and bloody determination.

Faced with the human onslaught, the Necrons responded with unwavering and cold determination.

The hovering pyramids emitted amber-colored energy beams that shrieked as they erased large numbers of tanks and infantry from reality like harvesting crops. The blades of the Tomb Spyders sprayed out large amounts of lightning barrages, turning everything they touched into shimmering ashes. The gauss rifles in the hands of the Necron infantry were deadly to both armor and personnel. To make up for the lack of infantry, General Crown released all the Canoptek constructs he could control. When a tank was directly overturned by brute force, the large body of a Stalker appeared on the battlefield. A huge Tomb Spyder was destroyed by the tanks' concentrated fire. When it fell, hundreds of Scarabs crawled out of its corpse and rushed towards the tanks, tearing their armor and main guns off the vehicles.

The two sides engaged in a bloody slaughter on a front of up to six kilometers.

But the stalemate did not last long. A barrage of artillery fire from afar shattered the black pyramids, smoke rising everywhere, and the light of the gauss flayers passed through their fractured surfaces in a sickly manner. The Titans changed their targets, and although Necron aircraft constantly tried to harass them, they were very clever and always stayed under the protection of the polar fortress's anti-aircraft fire, even the Doom Scythes could not do anything to them.

General Crown still refused to admit its failure. The dynasty had been invincible when it swept across these vermin, and it could not be the first "loser"!

As a proud lord of the Menak Dynasty, serving the great overlord, 'World Killer' Kutlakh, it would not bring any shame to its family and master, and therefore chose to personally teach these lowly vermin a lesson, leading its Immortal Guard.

It rode in its anti-gravity chariot, wielding its warscythe, cleaving through tanks and dragging out the screaming crew inside, throwing them onto the spikes next to the command barge. As they wailed in pain, it had already rushed towards another target.

It did not hide its presence in the slightest, because it believed that when an opponent saw a noble lord appear on the battlefield, even if they were primitive, they would at least understand that this was a challenge.

It longed for a duel with an opponent who was a commander with some status, in order to cover up its failure in command. It even stubbornly did not call for any reinforcements.

Just as it was rampaging through the enemy ranks, as if in no man's land, a static energy field suddenly erupted around its command tower, and the spatial bubble that formed quickly covered a range of over a hundred meters in diameter, but as a Necron lord, it was very familiar with time weapons, and the protective jewelry on its body flashed, and the whole person disappeared from the command barge and appeared a hundred meters away.

But before it could stand firm, a black sword suddenly stabbed from the right.

General Crown tilted its head and dodged the blow, while sweeping its warscythe horizontally to the right.

But it hit nothing, and then the sword stabbed again from the left, but it had already seen the opponent, a warrior in armor, tall and mighty, an opponent it had been waiting for a long time.

With no time for a duel ceremony, it swung its warscythe again. As a lord, it was not one of those slow-moving counterparts, its movements were extremely swift, and it could even cause a sonic boom, but it was facing an even more agile opponent.

After failing to land two strikes, Kasati suddenly retreated slightly, avoiding the opponent's scythe, and then suddenly drew his gun and revealed a playful smile.

"Goodbye, metal head."

A melta shot was fired, and a cloud of black light erupted on the Necron noble's body, leaving it unscathed, and then it let out an angry, cold hiss.

"Vermin! You have defiled this sacred duel! You are not worthy—"

Before it could act, a power sword pierced its body from behind, and Kasati also stepped forward, stabbing the sword through its skull.

"So remember well, this is what we humans are like."

As he pulled out his sword, he cut off the opponent's head to prevent resurrection, and then looked at Seizer, who was holding the sword.

The error-free version is being read! First release of this novel.

"Not bad, this one is yours. This thing is considered a high-level commander."

Seizer nodded, picked up the metal skull on the ground, and hung it on the chain around his waist.

With the death of General Crown, the Necron forces completely disintegrated, and the counterattacking forces took more than half an hour to completely eliminate them, which also became the first Menak force to be systematically eliminated in the Amara campaign.

However, Talos did not feel optimistic about this, because this force was not large, only forty to fifty thousand infantry. According to the messages and reconnaissance intelligence sent by the various hive cities, the currently known Menak ground forces already exceeded 2 million, and could possibly reach 5 million. Of course, due to the Necrons' constant resurrection, it was difficult to calculate the troop strength, but the number of enemies encountered in the New Vasburg area alone was as high as 600,000, which was by no means an exaggeration.

Now what he had to do was continue to defend the polar fortress and issue counterattack orders to the forces around New Vasburg.

But Talos knew one thing very well, no matter how wonderful the ground battle was, the final outcome would be determined by that battlefield in the void.
