The Emperor’s Angel of Death

#3423 - The Dragon Prince outwits the pyromaniac

"Your Highness, after a series of arduous battles, the Imperial Guard forces of mankind finally used a ruse to flood Desolation Valley, completely destroying the last Greenskin group on the rebel mainland. As expected, that Big Mek teleported to his base and activated the device. The humans were completely unaware of this. To divert human attention, the Greenskins even sent their remaining forces to besiege Black Reach, drawing the Imperial forces there. A major battle erupted near Black Reach, with the Iron Skull Legion even losing a Warhound Titan. At this point, the Great Wazdakka's fleet had already reached the edge of the Ryann System. They were all made of scrap ships and asteroid fragments, with the Greenskin warlord's flagship being the size of a small asteroid! They recklessly hurtled towards Ryann III."

In the personal office of the Randahl, Sausozhian sat in his chair, watching the various images and texts on the spirit bone scroll while listening to Carnelian's report.

The Randahl, which had been riddled with holes, completed the repair of its key internal components in just under three weeks after arriving at the Gellan star system, retaining only some external damage to avoid suspicion. This surprised Sausozhian, as Gellan himself had previously said it might take a "longer" time.

Gellan, or rather Qingzhao, explained that he had originally estimated that the "giant ship" Sausozhian mentioned would be very complex, but it was actually quite simple and had a lot of primitive designs, making it easy to repair.

He even suggested that Sausozhian carry out a major refit of the entire ship, because after running simulations, he believed that the warship model had serious tonnage waste and firepower configuration problems, as well as significant issues with the power and detection/observation systems. He even designed a completely new plan in a matter of hours.

According to him, the new plan would give the ship type an operational efficiency of approximately 284%.

Sausozhian naturally rejected this, because Gellan's plan required a refit cycle of more than ten years, and he couldn't wait. He might need the ship at any time, and he had to keep the Randahl in the best possible state of readiness.

The real problem he faced was not how good it was, or how much better it could be, but whether it could be used and how much of it could be used.

Maybe the next ship could be built according to Gellan's plan, but he wasn't sure if he would have the resources and time to tinker with a second Abyssal-class ship.

"Hmm?"

Sausozhian paused, turning his head.

"Ryann III?"

Holding a folder in her hands, wearing a simple white collared jacket and a pencil skirt that accentuated her perfect curves, Carnelian, whose slender legs were covered in delicate black fabric, looked at the surprised Sausozhian. She then revealed a warm smile, her eyes behind the thin black-rimmed glasses sparkling as she opened her crimson lips and replied with a smile:

"General Ivan discovered the Greenskin device in advance and secretly tampered with it. The Greenskins' carelessness usually prevents them from doing any detailed inspections, so when the beacon was activated, it actually guided them in the wrong direction. In the end, the main force of the Greenskins crashed into that gas giant, including the Greenskin warlord's flagship. Even if he didn't die, he won't be causing any trouble for a while."

"Good!"

Sausozhian lightly slapped the table, appearing very happy.

"Good! Good! Ivan did a great job! He can be said to have single-handedly turned the tide of the entire battle! He must be rewarded, handsomely rewarded! No! I will personally reward him! Also, notify the Conclave that all Dragon Knights who participated in this operation will be rewarded, with medals and material rewards, and the two Dragon Knight Generals will be awarded promotions!"

After speaking, he looked at the report again and nodded.

"Then there shouldn't be any major problems with the fighting on Ryann. The deployed company will be returning soon this Ivan is brave, resourceful, and has a long-term vision. The Golden Feather Guard has also repeatedly emphasized that he is very supportive of the Ryann Defenders and often takes the initiative to do things privately. He's very useful. It's a pity to just be a Dragon Knight General. Should I transfer him to work in the Conclave for a while?"

Carnelian thought for a few seconds before replying softly:

"Your Highness, this is only an aid operation to the Empire after all. Many people in the Royal Court don't think it's a big deal. If General Ivan is suddenly given a high position because of this, it wouldn't be appropriate for him. It would be better to wait for him to achieve more merit."

"Hmm, you're right. Let me think. How about letting them rest for a while? It just so happens that some of the savage kingdoms in the Ultima Segmentum seem to be in trouble those restless T'au are starting to expand again, but they seem to have attracted a powerful Greenskin force. These things are always thinking about doing things that harm others and don't benefit themselves, and bringing trouble upon themselves."

At this point, the joy on Sausozhian's face gradually faded, and worry crept back onto his brow.

"Greenskins, Greenskins, Greenskins everywhere These things are becoming more and more active. Are they really preparing to create a huge disaster for the Empire at the end of the 41st millennium? I am increasingly worried about the situation on Armageddon. Last time we didn't destroy the Skulltaker. With the Greenskins' nature, revenge is inevitable. Yarick is already very old, and I really can't spare any manpower."

"Your Highness, as long as these green beasts don't produce a true overlord-level powerhouse, they are not worth mentioning. They are merely a nuisance."

Just then, the office doorbell suddenly rang. Sausozhian immediately had Carnelian put away the spirit bone scroll. She then walked to the huge red wooden double doors with the crisp sound of her high heels and opened them. Ilian appeared outside the door. He seemed to sense who was in front of him, or smell the unique, cool fragrance. He paused briefly, and the bionic eye in his socket even showed a surprised expression.

Sausozhian had asked him many times if he wanted to restore his sight, but Ilian had refused. He seemed convinced that sight would interfere with his astropathic abilities. After all, the most important thing for an astropath when working is to be single-minded, and the senses can sometimes be a burden. Many astropaths who are extremely focused on efficiency will actively block their hearing, smell, and taste, turning themselves into a state of completely relying on psychic perception to understand the outside world.

However, Ilian's refusal was not solely for this reason. He was more worried about appearing too "unique". In fact, due to having some Eldar blood, his vision could be completely restored on its own. However, Ilian's biggest concern in his life was that others would see him as an alien a non-blind astropath would naturally also be an oddity. Therefore, he preferred to suppress his healing ability and force himself to remain blind.

Sausozhian also realized this and ultimately didn't force him, only hoping that he would come to terms with it himself in the future.

However, Ilian's psychic ability could essentially replace his sight. At least he could tell that Carnelian was a beautiful and lively woman, as well as some other things that couldn't actually be seen with the eyes.
