It wasn’t until then that Ji He knew what exactly the system had meant when it said that simply catching fish could complete the task. After the fish was done being prepared, Ji He picked out two of the bamboo shoots that Wang Xuan had just peeled and wrapped them around the fish. Two thin bamboo cords were cut with a knife and wrapped the parcels tightly before they were placed on the newly assembled bamboo grill.

Wang Xuan watched Ji He hands rise and fall as each fish was cleaned. Although he didn’t know what was happening, he felt that if he wasn’t good, he would be the next one to receive such treatment.

“It should be spring now. Summer will be hotter, and there will be more wild beasts. There’s no autumn here. After summer, it go directly into winter. If you aren’t prepared, winter will be really difficult.”

Looking at the crackling fire where the fish was grilling, the two fell into a brief silence.
