The Fallen Consort

Chapter 177 - Two-Faced Coin (2)

When the kiss ended, King Jin slightly pulled away to look at Yi Ling. Although her face was different from the woman in his memories, he knew that they were the same person. Being a Deity, he could easily feel her soul. That was one of the reasons why he knew that her soul wasn't placed right on that woman's body before. Now he understands that it wasn't her body before.

Looking around the room and the Spiritual Energy in the air, King Jin's brows furrowed. He felt that this place was somewhat familiar but he couldn't remember exactly what it was. "Ling'er, where are we?"

Yi Ling bit her lips. She knew that she had to explain everything to him, so as not to scare him once he saw his other-self. "We are inside the Sapphire Jade Ring."

King Jin's eyes widened. "What did you say?"

"The Sapphire Jade Ring. Have you forgotten?" Yi Ling remembered the time when Muxin told her about the Ring's history. It was a symbol of his love for her.

King Jin chuckled. "I almost forgot about it. How did you find it? No. You are its owner, so I guess its found its way home." He gently ċȧrėssed her face.

Yi Ling smiled slightly. "I guess."

Seeing her somewhat perplexed, King Jin couldn't help but be worried. "Is something wrong?"

"I... It's hard to explain." Yi Ling looked at his deep purple eyes. She felt that those eyes could read her mind and heart, so she no longer hesitated. "Have you ever wonder why you lost your memories?"

King Jin sighed. He was indeed curious about the reason why and no matter what he does, he could not find the answer to it. "If it's something that making you feel uneasy, you don't have to tell me. I may have lost my memories but I found you already. That's all that matters to me now." He pulled her again and hugged her tightly.

Yi Ling bit her lips and her eyes became misty. "What if I'm the reason why you lost your memories? Would you hate me?"

King Jin became stiff after hearing her words. It only lasted for a second before he became normal again. He backed away a little bit, just enough for him to look at her in the eyes. "No matter what you do to me, I'll accept it wholeheartedly. Even if you put me to death."

Unable to find the right words to reply, She leaned her head into his ċhėst and hugged him tightly. King Jin's mouth curled up and hugged the little kitten back. Hugging her made him felt relaxed and comfortable for so many years. The longing didn't faded one bit, instead, it became more and more. He finally found his wife. This time, he would not let her go and would not let her die again.

They hugged for about an half an incense of a stick before pulling away. "Are you feeling much better now? Xin'er says that you should be okay after resting." Yi Ling had been worried since King Jin had slept for more than half a day.

"Xin'er?" King Jin's brows furrowed. For some reason, it was as if he didn't heard anything else but the word Xin'er. How she pronounced those words, it sounded like an endearment from a lover.

Yi Ling saw his questioning look. She unconsciously gulped down her saliva. This was now or never, she thought. "The reason why you lost your memories is because of me."

King Jin didn't reply and patiently waited for her to explain. His brows were still crossed, unable to let go when he called out that name.

"Ehem..." She cleared out her throat. "It's a long story."

King Jin patted her hand, urging her to go on. Yi Ling then told her story. She started with where she came from, how she grew up and meeting everyone. When she tackled about meeting Muxin, she only said that there was a Guardian inside the Ring. How the Guardian guided her and how he helped her throughout her Cultivation. She also mentioned about the seals on her body and how she slowly unlocked it. In it, she talked about how her soul accidentally slipped out of her body and how they met.

King Jin patiently listened to her story. Sometimes, one could see his brows crossed or see his mouth twitching. Whatever he was thinking about, he never did interrupt her storytelling. Some of her stories had been already told by his son, yet it was still interesting when Yi Ling said so herself.

Learning that she grew stronger beside this so-called Guardian of the Ring, he slowly grew envious. He couldn't help but think that this Guardian had a special place in his wife's heart. Every time she says "Xin'er did this", "Xin'er did that", "Xin'er said this" or "Xin'er said that". His left hand slowly clenched into a fist underneath his sleeve.

He closed his eyes briefly to calm himself down and clear his head. Somehow, he couldn't hear her words anymore. After calming himself down, he heard that she was now telling him about the Sect that she founded. The way she told him about it, it was precisely detailed. He couldn't help but remember the first time when Meiling told him about the time that she made Huaxia. Yi Ling had the same enthusiastic joy.

After that, her voice became slow. There was hesitation in her eyes. King Jin patted her hand again, letting her continue her story. He saw her signed and then said.

"After the Divine Harmony Bow's spirit, Qianru woke up. It showed me some memories of my past. Where I confronted someone and then died. It was right then that I knew, This wasn't my first life. I became scared because that she said that my killer had the same face as the Guardian of the Ring.

He told me his name was Mu Xin. Later on, I found out that it wasn't his full name." Yi Ling looked at King Jin. His face was shocked, his eyes and brows were unsettled.

"His full name is Jin Muxin."

King Jin couldn't help but be astonished. What did that mean? Someone had the same face as him? Was it impersonating him?! The room got cold as King Jin's mood became heavy. There was a slight killing intent with it.
