Chapter 49: The Dust Settles

After all those stone gambling masters made their comments showing their support of Han XinYu and Lin Luo on their social media platforms, the trend of public opinion gradually changed, which made Xing Mo finally feel at ease.

At about 5 o’clock in the afternoon that day, the Stone Gambling Association finally issued an official statement. The statement pointed out that just like how ability players can also use their abilities in mecha battles, Lin Luo and Han XinYu have the option to use mental powers in the stone gambling process. It is also to be considered a manifestation of their own personal abilities. In the end, when gambling they will still need to rely on their own experience and insight to help them make the correct judgments when choosing and cutting jadeite. Therefore, the two did not make any rule violations during the game.

Just when everyone thought that the official statement issued by the Stone Gambling Association would put an end to this incident, Han XinYuan’s social media platform once again had a new development.

It was a formal letter of indictment. It went on to list the ID numbers of thousands of StarNet users. They were all the people who had been repeatedly guiding public opinion under anonymity. Attached were many screenshots which showed the details of these people’s slander and abuse of Han XinYu and Lin Luo. In these screenshots it showed that the speeches that deliberately guided public opinion were surprisingly similar, and the remaining swear words were very unsightly.

Jessica has a lot of fervent fans, but if no one had deliberately guided public opinion, it would have been impossible for there to be such a clamor overnight. Although Han XinYuan currently has no evidence to prove that Jessica ordered these people, she is obviously inseparable from this matter, so she is also listed as a member of Han XinYuan’s indictment letter.

If the relevant departments verify that these people were instigated by Jessica, then one can imagine her fate.

This letter of indictment caused an uproar once again on StarNet. Ignoring what kind of judgment the Stone Gambling Association made, people found Jessica’s obviously premeditated and organized manipulation of public opinion in order to suppress newcomers to be much too malicious and despicable.

Jessica’s fans were also shocked. How could they think that someone was deliberately guiding this incident, and that the person leading them could be Jessica herself, whom they regarded as their goddess and idol? They were really used as guns by Jessica?

For a time, on the page of Jessica’s social media platform the original words of concern and support were all replaced by doubts.

Jessica also responded immediately. She claimed that she didn’t know anything. She was only upset for a while and therefore expressed such a sentiment. She didn’t mean to target anyone at all.

It’s just that compared with the evidence given by Han XinYuan, Jessica’s statement was too weak.

For a time, StarNet was extremely lively to the point that it was almost comparable to the grand occasion of the new emperor’s ascension to the throne.

Xing Mo looked at his light brain in a trance, and thought that it seemed he owed Yin Ye another big favor.

The Han family is a stone gambling family, and it is not impossible to invite those master-level figures to speak for the two juniors in such a short period of time. But the detailed user list that followed was definitely not something that the Han family could easily obtain.

StarNet is under the unified supervision of the military department. If a person wants to find the information of any anonymous user of StarNet, it is absolutely impossible to obtain that information without the cooperation of the military department, and the Han family simply does not have that kind of influence. Therefore, Xing Mo guessed that this should be Yin Ye’s work.

While thinking about it, Xing Mo  received and incoming communication request from Yin Ye.

Sure enough, as Xing Mo had guessed, this matter was indeed resolved by Yin Ye. He was also the one who contacted the stone gambling masters, and the user ID list was handed over to the Han family after he obtained it through the military.

“Thank you.” Xing Mo sincerely thanked Yin Ye. If he hadn’t acted promptly this time, things would not have been resolved so smoothly.

“If you really want to thank me, come back quickly. The next auction is still waiting on you to send me the lots!”

“No problem.”

*********

Lin Luo didn’t know about any of this until after returning home. He didn’t blame Xing Mo or Wang Xun for their concealment at all. He knew that they were acting in his best interests.

At the same time, Han XinYuan’s lawsuit against those who maliciously slandered Lin Luo was formally accepted by the military who then quickly launched an investigation into the matter. All the people on that list were summoned by the military, so as soon as Jessica stepped off the shuttle she was almost immediately brought back by the local planet’s star harbor garrison guard to assist in the investigation.

On the day of the trial, Lin Luo attended the trial together with Han XinYu as joint prosecutors.

During the trial, the previously anonymous users confessed to their bad behavior and said that they were instigated by Jessica, but Jessica didn’t admit to it at all. While crying bitterly, she firmly stated that she had not instructed anyone, and she had no idea where these people came from. However, in the face of the testimony of so many people her defense seemed very weak.

In the end, those who were instigated to maliciously lead public opinion were sentenced to one year of exile, while Jessica, as the lead instigator, was not only sentenced to three years of exile, but was also required to pay Lin Luo and Han XinYu 1 million credits in damages each for the loss of reputation.
