Chapter 67: Rescue and Counterattack – Part 1

Their small group simply covered up the scene and left quickly.

“Thank you for saving us. My name is Xie Dong. This is my girlfriend, Chen Yi. We are both third-year students at the Stila Imperial Military Academy.” After arriving in a safer place, the young man who was rescued by Xing Mo thanked the two of them.  They were students of the military academy as Xing Mo had guessed. “I feel like they’re looking for someone. They’ve been searching everywhere.”

“No matter who they’re looking for, we have to find a way to get out. Don’t forget, interstellar pirates never leave anyone alive.” Xing Mo narrowed his eyes slightly. Whether these people had come for Lin Luo or not, it was impossible for him to put Lin Luo in danger.

“You’re right.” The expressions of Xie Dong and Chen Yi suddenly became more serious. They were both military academy students. Naturally, they know how murderous these infamous interstellar pirates were. If it weren’t for Xing Mo appearing in time, the two of them might have already become two cold corpses.

“I found that my light brain can’t connect to StarNet. It’s possible that the military hasn’t yet discovered that we were attacked by interstellar pirates.” Although Chen Yi was a girl, she was still calm even in a situation such as this.

Xing Mo nodded, “Yes, these interstellar pirates came well prepared and used surprise tactics. They first used shielding devices to shield the signals from StarNet, then attacked the shuttle ship with lightning speed. Now that the power systems and defense systems of the shuttle ship are all destroyed, the alarm can’t be issued at all. Although the shuttle ship is equipped with a positioning device and the military department will take immediate action after discovering the ship’s abnormality, I’m not sure if we can survive until that time.”

“Escape pods! This shuttle ship must have escape pods! We can evacuate through those.” Xie Dong also thought of using the escape pods to leave.

“It’s useless, the interstellar pirates have a GX battleship.” Although the escape pods are made of special materials, if it can’t outrun the GX battleship’s pursuit and is continuously bombarded, it will still be blown up.

“Then… then what do we do?” Xie Dong also realized the speed advantage of the GX battleship, and ran a hand through his hair irritably.

“Guerrilla tactics.” Xing Mo said slowly.

Although the GX battleship piloted by the interstellar pirates has strong combat effectiveness, the number of people it can carry is limited. As such, Xing Mo guessed that the number of the interstellar pirates shouldn’t be large. At most there should be dozens of people scattered up and down the interior of the shuttle. Additionally these interstellar pirates don’t work together very well. In fact, it is easy to defeat them on an individual basis. Their only advantage is that they have energy weapons and combat protective clothing, which can crush the average unarmed passenger on the shuttle. However if they can get to the weapons on the 20th floor and organize the remaining survivors to fight back effectively, even if they can’t defeat the interstellar pirates, they can at least delay them long enough to wait for the military rescue team to arrive.

“You’re right!” Hearing Xing Mo’s plan, Xie Dong’s eyes lit up immediately, “Let’s do it!”

“The interstellar pirates have destroyed the power systems and defense systems of the shuttle, and the automatic defense system of the weapons depot should also be ineffective. If we go down now, we should be able to directly enter and get the weapons.” Chen Yi also approved this plan.

The four of them did as they planned, and prepared to take the staff elevator to the 20th floor. Since the 20th floor is where the weapons depot was located, only the staff were able to use the elevator able to get there. Although the interstellar pirates destroyed the power systems and defense systems of the shuttle, in order to facilitate their own actions they did not damage the elevator control system, which made things easier for Xing Mo and the rest of the group. Now that the defense systems had failed, they were able to use the elevator without verifying their identity.

However, when the elevator door opened, they saw seven or eight corpses wearing staff uniforms lying in a pool of blood. They likely also wanted to go to the 20th floor depot to get weapons after the attack, but they were unsuccessful…

“Are… we going to continue?” Chen Yi’s voice trembled slightly, and Xie Dong turned aside his gaze in discomfort.

“We have to go down and look before making a decision.” Xing Mo sighed, “We’ll take the stairs down. Once on the 20th floor there should be a staff access passage at the back.”

There were some blood stains on the button pannel on the 20th floor, which should have been left by a staff member before their death. It’s a pity that they were not able to persist until they got to the weapons

The door of the staff access passage was not locked. The four quickly got to the 20th floor and followed the passage to the weapon depot. The closed door had been opened. It was likely searched by an interstellar pirate, but it looked like all the contents were still inside.

In the end, the shuttle ship was only a civilian level ship. There weren’t many weapons in the depot, and they weren’t even newer models. There were only a dozen energy guns with insufficient energy, two micro bombs and four or five sets of zero-G exo-suits. For the interstellar pirates, these things may not have much value, so they were left here.

“It’s barely enough. Let’s go.” Xing Mo and the others were not unhappy with what they found. They put all these things into the space buttons, and then walked upstairs together. Since these interstellar pirates were searching for people floor by floor, they would similarly save people floor by floor.
