Chapter 301 - Hatching

Chapter 301: Hatching

After greeting Aakesh, both David and John looked at him.

John had met Aakesh once before when he had arrived in his store to buy some skills, while it was the first time David had met Aakesh.

When David had become Level 50, he had seen Aakesh, and even their eyes had directly met, but in fear of offending and dying, David had moved his eyes right away.

"Eh!" The next moment, he couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. He could sense nothing from Aakesh.

David knew Aakesh was way stronger than him, but he had never thought that the chasm between them was so wide that he couldn't even sense his Level. It was common knowledge in the town that no being above Level 50 could enter the area around it, so David believed that Aakesh was also Level 50 like him but way stronger.

"Why did you call us adventurers?" John asked Aakesh.

After knowing that he had no idea of how to hatch the egg, he had been thinking of meeting Aakesh and asking him, but he couldn't gather the courage. He didn't want to face the killer of his father, and he was also afraid that the adventurer would kill him, so John would never be able to take revenge.

Not knowing what to do, he had fallen in confusion and was randomly walking in the room when suddenly Lewis arrived and told him that the adventurer wanted to meet him. At that time, only he knew what he had gone through in that second.

At first, he thought that the adventurer wanted to kill him, but after thinking about it, he took that thought away from his mind since if the adventurer desired to kill him, he would've already done so. Thinking like this, colors that had vanished after hearing about Aakesh calling him returned to his face, and he also gathered a bit of courage in his heart.

"I have already killed the wolf king and the majority of the silver wolves, but around a thousand cubs and young wolves are still alive," Aakesh began explaining his purpose behind calling both John and David here.

He had promised Lily that he would protect the cubs after she left, so he was fulfilling his promise by ordering the new Townhead and the owner of the future wolf king to protect that area.

"If even a single cub dies due to your negligence, that'll be the last thing you will be able to see," Aakesh ended his explanation with a warning to both David and John, and also Lewis, who was standing next to them.

At that moment, all three of them felt as if they were being stared at by a brutal beast, and if they even dared to move, the beast would rip them apart into pieces.

"Don't worry, adventurer. Since I'm the Townhead of Wolfden, I will declare the area you'd mentioned as forbidden, and if anyone still dared to bypass my order, I will execute them in front of all the citizens," David responded with a solemn face.

He had a daughter who was only six months old, so he had no interest in dying by someone else's mistake. So, he directly promised Aakesh to take action to ensure what he asked for.

Aakesh nodded in response to David's words. He then looked at John, who began hurriedly nodding and promised Aakesh that he would ensure the protection of the area.

Lewis by himself chimed in and promised Aakesh that he would put several guards to protect that area.

"I wouldn't let you work for free, so you can select one cub you like and take it for your own," Aakesh told the group. It was most probably his last day in the town, so he didn't want to owe anything to anyone.

"Thanks, adventurer!" The three of them thanked Aakesh at the same time.

Aakesh nodded and then gestured to the group to leave. The group except John turned around and left the room.

"Adventurer,  may I ask a question?" John asked with a hint of nervousness in his tone.

Aakesh gestured to him to go ahead and ask what he wanted.

"Thank you, adventurer! I wanted to know the way to hatch the egg?"

John respectfully thanked him and asked the question that was currently the most significant in his life.

"Feed it eleven drops of your blood," Aakesh expressionlessly answered.

"Thank you, adventurer!" John thanked Aakesh right away. He also then turned around and left the room.

John was in a hurry after knowing the way to hatch, so he ignored Lewis and David, who were waiting for him, outside room number one, and directly rushed to his room.

"Let's hatch you," John mumbled as he looked at the egg on the table in front of him.

He then bit his finger, and his blood began spilling on top of the egg.

He moved his fingers right away when the number of blood drops reached eleven. Soon, the red patterns on the egg began moving randomly on the shell.

One second passed, two seconds passed, just like that thirty seconds passed.

The red pattern that had become alive after it fed on John's blood had now completely engulfed the egg.

"Lub-Dub!"

"Lub-Dub!"

"Lub-Dub!"

The sound of heartbeats began ringing in the area. At first, the sound was like whispers; if John weren't powerful, he wouldn't have been able to hear the sound, but as time passed, even those sitting outside could listen to the sound of the heartbeat.

A tense expression appeared on John's face as he looked at the glowing egg in front of him.

Suddenly, the shell of the egg, instead of cracking, began shrinking, and as time passed, only a glowing egg the size of a football remained on the table.

John wanted to intervene, but he controlled himself not to. He wouldn't be able to do anything if complications rose due to his interference in the birth. So he patiently waited for the creature to come out.

"Crack!"

Suddenly, a cracking sound rang in the room as the shell of the egg cracked, and a tiny wolf cub appeared on the table.

John gently picked the cub up and cautiously looked at it.

It had its eyes closed, but there could be movement seen as if the creature could open its eyes any minute.
