Chapter 79: Fighting Battles
The next moment, Aakesh reappeared completely fine after dying just a moment ago.
Remembering the scene a moment ago chilled him to his core. Right after the bell rang, announcing the start of the battle, he had just touched his bowstring when his opponent arrived in front of him and swung his sword, resulting in severing his head.
The opponent expressionlessly took a look at Aakesh and then left the arena. The crowd watched the scene without even daring to breathe. He also left the next moment, as the defeat he faced was too much for him to take.
He appeared in the store after putting down the bow in the selection ground. "Hey, system, did my opponent have the same power level as I do?" He asked the system because getting defeated in just a few seconds by a being of the same level was way too humiliating for him.
[Yes, Host. You can try fighting him by using a sword.]
The system answered and also suggested him. "Good Idea! It has been many days since I held a sword in my hand," He whispered.
The next moment, he reappeared in the selection ground. Instead of usually picking up a bow, he picked up the sword lying on the next shelf.
It was a one-handed double-edged sword with a razor-sharp edge and murals of a dragon threatening to swallow the Multiverse etched across the blade. It had a complex guard and a detailed grip. It had a dark appearance which could even suck out the light during the afternoon. It was made up of the corpse of the first Black Dragon, a Primordial and one of the strongest in all the three dimensions, but unfortunately, it got killed by Kartikeya countless years ago.
It weighed the same as a feather in his hands, but it was not its actual weight. If anyone other than him tried to pick it up, even a God wouldn't be able to budge it.
If Aakesh took any of the weapons he used for training, it would create a bloodbath not only in the first dimension but all three dimensions. But, the systems didn't allow him to take out any weapon in reality.
He picked the sword and the next moment reappeared in the familiar arena. A blue display appeared in front of him and welcomed him. It had two options, whether he wanted to start the fight from the first round or move straight to round two.
In light of his victory with the bow in the first round, he decided to go with the sword and see if he could finish the fight earlier compared to the bow.
The next moment, he appeared in the battle arena in the midst of cheers. A few seconds later, his opponent appeared.
"Oh... sword battle!" The opponent at first was stunned, seeing Aakesh using a sword instead of the bow.
"Yeah, I wanted to see who is quicker!" Aakesh expressionlessly responded.
The next moment, the bell rang, announcing the start of the battle. Since it was the first time for Aakesh to fight with the sword, his opponent gave him the first chance to attack.
Aakesh didn't waste his welcome and made the first move. He disappeared from his position, and the sound of metal clashing rang where his opponent stood. The next moment, they both disappeared, and the metal continuously clashed.
"It's enough," The next moment, Aakesh's cold voice rang, and the air around the arena suddenly turned colder. It chilled the crowd watching the battle. The next moment, his opponent started falling into the ground, severed into pieces.
The entire arena turned red from the blood of the opponent, but his sword still looked the same as before without any blemishes. The next moment, the same window appeared, asking him for his choice. He chose to go to the second round.
Suddenly, all the blood and body pieces vanished, leaving the arena clean and ready for the next match. Aakesh's opponent then appeared with an expressionless face.
The crowd started feeling even colder as both the opponent had cold expressions while staring at each other, making the atmosphere chilling.
The bell rang, and Aakesh's opponent made the first move, unlike the last time. A grin appeared on his face as he dodged slightly to his right, and a sword passed right through, but the next moment, two vertical half of a body fell on the ground with a thud.
The whole crowd had shocked faces, seeing the outcome of the battle. It wasn't Aakesh's body, but instead, it was his opponent's. Right after he had dodged the attack, he swung his sword vertically, and it split the opponent's body into two.
"So, it was the problem with my archery," Aakesh commented after defeating his opponent with ease in the second round. The next moment, the same window appeared, but this time, there were three options, go back to the first round, stay in the second round, or proceed to the third and final round.
He chose the third round without thinking too much. The next moment, the split body lying in the arena vanished. After a few seconds, his opponent appeared. It was the same being, but he could feel a sense of coldness and kill from the man.
The bell rang and announced the start of the battle. Aakesh and the opponent made their move at the same time. In the middle of the arena, "Clang!" the sound of metal clashing echoed.
"Now, this is a good battle!" Aakesh commented as he wasn't able to find a weak point in his opponent's fighting.
"You're right!" The opponent responded. His voice cold enough to chill anybody. He also wasn't able to find any weakness in Aakesh's fighting.
The two combatants were on equal footing at the start of the fight, but as time passed, the opponent started to tire, whereas Aakesh continued to fight with the same vigor.
"And, here I thought, you would give me a good competition," Aakesh said as the opponent started getting slower.
Suddenly, the air in the arena turned threatening as a projection of the Black Dragon appeared in the air. The opponent sensed a feeling of danger, seeing the Black Dragon. He also activated his most destructive attack to counter Aakesh's attack right away.
A projection of a White Elephant appeared behind him and roared, seeing the Black Dragon.
Both the projection looked alive, as the Dragon looked at the Elephant as if it was an ant.. The next moment, both the projections clashed, and a loud explosion occurred in the battle arena.
