“What’s that supposed to mean father?”

Li Shen turned to Li Shu who appeared before walking forward with a smile.

Everyone who could, bowed to show respect to him.

“No need, your Shen’s friends.”

Li Shu shook his head as he spoke, after which he turned to Li Shen who was still in towering form.

He looked ‘up’ at his son with a peculiar expression on his face.

Li Shen seeing this rolled his eyes before his body slowly decreased in size.

Li Shu watched as this happened with a curious look on his face. He also took note of the fact that the others didn’t react to his transformation.

“When we get home you need to answer some of my questions.”

Li Shu said, but Li Shen instantly responded.

“I need some answers as well after what I heard from that meeting previously.”

Li Shu had his expression showed confusion for a moment, but then realizing what meeting Li Shen was talking about he looked at him with surprise.

However, he soon let out a chuckle before he said.

“I can't be surprised by you anymore, let’s go. You can bring your friends as well.”

Li Shen nodded at his father's words, but he hesitated for a moment before asking.

“Father, is it possible for you to heal his arm?”

Li Shu looked around Li Shen at Mu Fan. With a glance, he said casually.

“Sure, it’s not every day my son asks for my help. As a father your not allowing me to do my job.”

Li Shen didn’t know what to say to that, but Li Shu only pointed at Mu Fan.

A small wormhole appeared around his stump, it slowly rotated and began moving downwards. As it did, a golden outline of an arm materialized tearing the bandages that were there.

Lihua and the others seeing this looked on with frozen expressions, while Li Shen's eyes narrowed at such a scene. He closely observe as a new arm appeared on Mu Fan’s body.

The wormhole soon went down enough for the arms' fingers to form. After it spun rapidly and shrunk, disappearing.

With a burst of golden light, the golden layer that was on Mu Fan’s new arm shattered into pieces before dissipating.

Throughout the process, Mu Fan hadn’t even flinched once. With the point of Li Shu’s finger, he had just painlessly created a missing limb.

However, Li Shu suddenly spoke up.

“Don’t go thinking that didn’t cost me anything. It isn’t so simple creating a complete arm with meridians.”

Li Shen hearing that turned to his father and said.
“Thanks dad.”

Li Shu simply smiled at his son before he waved his hand to the side while saying.

“Alright we should go, this academy is about to fall into ruins.”

Lihua and the others hearing that were dumbstruck.

Li Shu realizing how his words must have sounded to them chuckled and said.

“I’m exaggerating, but it isn’t far off for some academies on the Continent.”

“Is Patriarch Evernight targeting other academies in the Academy Alliance?”

Li Shen asked his father in slight surprise.

Li Shu looked at his son while the others went through the portal and said.

“How much of that meeting have you eavesdropped on?”

“All of it.”

Li Shu looked at Li Shen with a blank expression, but he let out a sigh soon after. He then ushered him into the portal while saying.

“We have a lot to talk about, I’m tired of having to deal with your teenage independent phase. Your too mature to be having that Shen’er.”

As Li Shen was practically shoved into the portal, he frowned and rebutted.

“What independent phase? I’m not a child father.”

“Well, you’ve been acting like one from my perspective.”

The father and son argued back and forth as they entered the portal, which closed behind them.

Sometime later, a well-dressed Li Shen was standing in front of Li Shu who was sitting on his throne in the throne room.

Without waiting for his father to speak, Li Shen asked right away.

“Why didn’t you tell me we had another branch on the Central Continent?”

Li Shu with a hand resting under his cheek said.

“Would it make a difference if you knew?”

Li Shen frowned before saying.

“What else are you hiding from me? When are the Ancestors planning to leave? Wasn’t it when you passed down the throne to Fu Wei? Why-”

“Enough Shen’er, these aren’t something you should be so worried about.”

“How can I not be? Isn’t this the fate of my Clan, are you saying I should turn a blind eye to everything?”

Li Shu looked at his son and he let out a sigh before asking.

“Do you know why I sent you to the Celestial Academy?”

Li Shen was taken aback by this sudden change in topic, but he still answered.

“You wanted to use me to revive the interest of Soul Cultivation in the Celestial Academy disciples and create relations between them and our Divine Star Academy.”

Li Shu smiled.

“I admit that was part of my intention but it was after I found out you didn’t possess a dantian. If you had passed the disciple ceremony, I would have still allowed you to the Celestial Academy.”

“Then why did you send me to the Celestial Academy?”

Li Shen was confused.

“I sent you because I didn’t want my son to be mediocre. I thought if you were put in an environment where you were surrounding my people who didn’t look at our Li Can favorable you wouldn’t lose the drive to get stronger.”

“Why didn’t you just send me to the Divine Star Academy and allow me to cultivate the Clan’s Legacy Technique instead? Even without a dantian, I could have still cultivated but you didn’t.”

Li Shu shook his head.

“It’s not so simple, and I have thought about it numerous times but even with our Legacy Cultivation Method it would still need someone to have a dantian to cultivate.”

Li Shen was even more confused.

“But mother said-”

“No."

Li Shu shook his head once more.

"The one that Saints and Saintess of the Divine Star Academy receive is not the same as the one I and your brother cultivate. Your mother was referring to that one, but her understanding of it is limited. It does not need a dantian to cultivate but that is only in the latter stages. It takes a person’s dantian and then transforms it, allowing a person’s cultivation to increase by comprehending laws as well as normally. It mimics the cultivation process of Nascent realm cultivators and above.”

Li Shen stood there for a moment in silence.

Li Shu continued to say.

“I never stopped searching for ways to allow you to cultivate, so when the Patriarch of the Profound Sword Sect proposed the engagement and used information on how to cultivate like those on the Central Continent, I immediately agreed.”

Li Shu paused before he looked at Li Shen deeply and said.

“But who would have thought right after the engagement was announced I would find out that my son somehow has a dantian and could cultivate Time Qi? And what was even more shocking was that it had principals similar to our Legacy Cultivation Method.”

Li Shen let out a sigh.

“However, Shen’er, why did you choose to wear a mask?”

Hearing that, Li Shen wasn’t surprised his father knew his identity as the Faceless Hero.

“I didn’t want my talents to be revealed.”

“Why?”

Li Shen froze before looking at his father with a confused expression.

“Why? Because the consequences aren’t something I’d like to see happening.”

“What consequences are that?”

Li Shen looked at his father for a moment trying to wonder where he was going with this. He didn’t understand why he needed to spell this out for him.

“If I reveal that I can cultivate then I’ll become more of a target than I already am, if that happens then that would put everyone around me in danger.”

Li Shu nodded his head in understanding, but he suddenly said.

“I wanted to hear your reason for hiding your identity because I thought it couldn’t be for such a poor excuse. But it is.”
