The Genie's Curse

10 Not what you wanted

Tsuru floated in the lamp as she waited for her mortal life to commence, but the thought of Evira and Allon didn't leave her mind as it plagued her refusing to leave. But something about that paper seemed off.

"A brand-new life or to use my old body?" Tsuru analyzed, "An old body would bring to many old and bad memories. So, I prefer a new one."

Flashback

Tsuru sobbed at a corner away from the other genies, "I should have listened to my brother." Those thought kept repeating itself in her head as her sobs only got louder.

A genie floated to her side as he spoke, "I know its hard but we all need to move on now."

Tsuru looked up at him with teary eyes, "Move on?! I had a brother to take care off."

"I had siblings as well. Two younger girls and one boy, I thought I could help them by working extra but night caught up to me and this lamp came along with it. Before I knew it, I made a terrible mistake." The genie spoke holding in the tears that threatened to slip.

"I'm sorry." Tsuru said as she looked up at him with a sorrowful gaze.

"My name is Keir, what's yours?" He asked as he floated beside her.

"Tsuru." She replied shortly not really knowing what else to say.

"Everyone's scared but what do we have to be afraid off? Death? That's something we've always dealt with." Keir informed as he looked at Tsuru who he thought had something to say.

"Well yeah but before this... we didn't know when we would die." Tsuru announced to him.

"This is incredible." A genie who looked like a child said as he snapped his fingers making a toy appear. He squished it and laughed.

"Poor kid. He's too innocent to understand what's happening." Tsuru commented as she looked at the boy in pity.

"Well it'll only affect him when he starts missing his parents." Keir added as he stared at the boy not thinking much off him.

"I'll be back in a while." Tsuru stated brushing her tears away and walking over to the boy, "Hey kid." She said cheerfully.

"Hi." The kid smiled as he looked at her.

"Do you understand what's going on?" She asked him.

The boy shook his head no, "But look at the pretty toy." He said holding up a wood carved horse towards her.

Tsuru looked at the glances other genies gave her hearing the boy's words.

The boy looked at her as his eyes got watery, "Why?!" He yelled out throwing the toy aside.

"Because we became genies." Tsuru lamented looking down at the boy who was about to break down in tears.

"I don't want to be one." He cried out.

Before Tsuru could answer Keir spoke, "Because we're playing a game. And you need to play master with an adult. He'll ask you for something and you must make it come true. If you lose you have to play it again."

The boy smiled wiping his tears, "Okay. I'm going to beat you."

"Not if I manage something." Keir said giving the boy a wink before grabbing him and spinning him in the air.

Flashback end

Tsuru noticed as her legs appeared. That was something she hadn't seen in so many hundreds of years that it seemed unreal. But then everything went black once more.

She woke up and looked around, "Where am I she questioned?"

"It's ok everything's going to be fine Evira." Evira's mother eased.

"What?" Tsuru questioned looking at Evira's mother, "I'm not Evira."

"Yes, you are... the doctor said you might have memory loss." The woman added as she brushed Tsuru's hair with her hand.
