The Genie's Curse

19 How can I help? When I can't help myself...

Allon had explained everything to Evira, how he was also a genie, this made her lash out like no one would have expected. But nothing made a bigger impact than what he did to gain the body he held now. She had screamed and cursed profanities at him, and demanded to leave. She couldn't stand to hear him out another second, she couldn't even bear to spare him a glance.

"Call a cab now!" She demanded to turn her back on him.

At the ruckus they had caused Keme had made an appearance, separating the two cousins he commanded Allon to leave the room while he dealt with Evira.

Allon plopped down on the bed sitting besides Tsuru's stretched out body, "She's leaving."

"Good."

He looked down at her seeing her eyes closed taking this all like a game, "Not good! She's my family!" He screamed out, "Even if you didn't care about her or anyone.... you still felt guilt, so that's got to mean something."

"Allon be honest with yourself, she is NOT your family. You killed in order to be who you are today, and I did too. So, stop trying to be the good guy, we're both villains in this world."

Her words held a much more deeper meaning than he would ever hope to understand. Tsuru has long ago stopped being a good person in her own eyes, whether her actions were accidents of truly meant she didn't care. She only saw her life as a disgrace, she was ashamed of being who she was even if she tried to play the paper of a person who didn't care.

He looked at her with the face of the victim, "Help me..."

"Help you?! How could I possibly help you Allon... do you even know what you want?"

Noticing her eyes opened peeking at him with interest he bit down on his lip. His palms sweaty, his gaze falling away from her, "Give me a purpose... something that can take decades to accomplish, so I don't aimlessly kill the innocent."

She sat up leaning against the bed frame, "A goal?" She collected her words, "What do you want Allon?"

"I don't know."

"Then how do you expect me to know? I don't even know your real name, and you only know me because you resent me."

Hearing her words he was caught off guard, she was correct. How could he ask such a thing from her when he didn't even complete trust her, what had gotten over him. Still the aching feeling of wanting a purpose and not aimlessly live an eternity made him repeat himself, "Please Tsuru.... please... give me a purpose."

Just then Keme made his way in the room, his complexion agitated, "I got the tickets, we're leaving in a few hours." He ignored Allon existence while speaking to her, his eyes glued on her.

Tsuru looked from him to Allon cursing internally for her choices, "Get Allon a ticket."

"What?" Was all Keme said.

Allon looked bewildered at what just occurred, when he looked back at Tsuru she simply gestured for him to leave. Agreeing even if he had questions he was quiet exiting the room when Keme's eyes followed hi with a glare.

"I got a question for you Keme." She said out of the bloom patting the spot next to her.

He sat on the spot playing his phone aside and directing his eyes at her, "Hit me."

"No, I'm not gonna hit you that would be wrong."

"Not literally, it's an expre- you know what just tell me." Keme said closing his eyes ready to listen.

Tsuru opened and closed her mouth regretting whatever she was going to ask, "Forget it."

When not being hit by her bluntness Keme looked up at her from one eye, "Now you have to tell me, well ask me."

"No, just forget it."

"Well if you won't ask something you'll regret one day, then I will." Keme chuckled at his own words, "I was in love with you." He found her staring at him with a blank expression, "Well, say something... don't make it more awkward then it has to be."

Surprising to him she gave him a small laugh in return, "Your joking, right."

Keme felt like being stabbed in the heart by her words, "No, I'm completely serious. Hurts a little even."

"Sorry,"Tsuru felt the tension in the room elevate drastically, "We should get ready to leave, it is in a few hours after all."

Just as she was getting of the bed he held her hand, "Don't just leave. Talk to me Tsuru, you're the only person I know from my same time period that I trust. Just talk to me."

Tsuru retook her seat, "What do you want to talk about?"

Keme was still unknowingly holding her hand, "Do you consider this a curse?"

"Yes." No hesitance was in her voice, simply a straight forward answer, "Don't you?"

"No, I well not all genie's had family to take care off. I felt like this was my lucky break, that things would turn for the better."

"Did they? Turn for the better I mean." Tsuru started to pull her hand away feeling him loose grip on it.

"Yeah, I don't hate living an eternity. It's fun seeing how things progress as well."

Tsuru looked at him with a puzzled expression, "Fun? How can it possibly be fun?"

"Open your eyes Tsuru, in three hundred years the world did a 180."

Her puzzled expression got to a whole new level of confusion, "A what?"

"it all changed, for the better. People don't get away with things as easy as they used to, women have a word on things..." he stood up and pointed out all the great things the world had to offer, "there are planes, these fly through the sky and take you places amazing everything is-" he stopped seeing her gaze drop, "Tsuru."

She was quietly staring at the floor even when he called out to her. Just lost in thought, when seeing things through his eyes an eternity really didn't seem so bad. However, when she saw everything from her perspective it was a living hell.

"Tsuru, did I say something wrong."

You said everything wrong...
