The Inconvenient Wife
Chapter 10
He observed Sneha was wearing a lovely pink, long skirt paired with a royal blue blouse. 'Why does she wear such loud colours?' wondered Rohan. While he was pondering her choice, he was actually admiring the colours. The way Sneha was sitting beside him with legs folded made her look elegant, her entire appearance was enticing. Anyone would love to have a girlfriend like Sneha, she was a quiet girl who loved colours and was mature for her age.
"What do you do during your days? Don't you get bored?"
She looked at Rohan, a little surprised by the question. "I've arranged the house for the last ten days," she replied. 'Didn't he notice? I'm working so hard without any help,' she wondered to herself.
He asked, "What do you do the entire day?"
"Haven't you noticed what I've done in the house? I've changed the arrangements and added a lot of new stuff," she said calmly.
Rohan was embarrassed to admit that he really wasn't bothered about any of that. "I do notice a few things but I come home so late I'm actually too tired to look around. I just want to go to sleep then." With that he got up and went to the balcony.
Sneha thought that she had upset him so she followed him to the balcony and said, "I'm sorry if I have said anything wrong..."
Rohan was looking the vast ocean from there engrossed in his thoughts. He was surprised at her apology but he wanted a more normal life and wanted Sneha to leave him to find a good boy for her before things got out of control. Stella still haunted his thoughts and he felt trapped. His mind drifted to the afternoon he had spent with Stella.
He knew that back at office Stella was in a tricky situation and at home he was. He had also seen the Facebook post that was floating and making rounds today. His mood dropped and became gloomy.
After weighing all the pros and cons Rohan decided to take Sneha to the office that Saturday so she could meet Stella and find out more about his situation. He wanted her to know because he thought Sneha was a good girl who deserved a better, uncomplicated life.
When Rohan didn't reply, she went inside the drawing room and sat on the sofa. She switched on the television and watched the first random movie that came on the screen.
Sneha was acutely aware of Rohan's strange behaviour and wondered why. 'Hadn't he wanted to marry me? Did he want to get married at all?' She had heard about his string of affairs and wanted to tell papa about it before papa pushed her into this marriage, but papa was so happy to see her marry Rohan that she hadn't the heart to. But this is not the way she was going to lead her life, it was just the beginning of her new world – a world she had long fantasized about.
