The King Alpha's Mate

*Jack's POV*

I still couldn't believe what happened, when Carmela was shot with a silver bullet straight to the heart and my whole body shook when she collapsed in my arms. Motionless, cold and with a dead heartbeat. It hit me like a sharp spear, her pain was mirrored in mine that it made me difficult to breathe. I only grunted loudly like a wolf injured in it's weakest spot.

I am losing my mind out of resentment to the woman who caused her pain. I could kill Freyah for this! i swear i will ripped her heart out!

I'm counting a million ways to kill her on my mind when the door of our bedroom opened.

"Alpha Jack! Good news. Her wound is healed and her heart is back to normal. The bullet just came out on it's own, it was a miracle I didn't see something like this happened to anyone before."

Maleficus's face is brighter than the ray of sunshine this morning.. He came immediately right after i called out his name at the training grounds. I was baffled, shocked and frantic. But when he came to Carmela's aid and assured me he didn't have a vision of her dying, I guessed that was a tool which gave me a huge relief.

"Oh! Thanks Moon Goddess for that! I am going inside to see her".

I couldn't help myself after he spilled the good news.

"Alpha Jack, i hope I could talk to you about..Freyah".

Maleficus hesitated but manage to say something just before I could open the big door.

Freyah, her name ruined whatever good news that he had just said a while ago. The smile that I was wearing immediately vanished from my face and is replaced with an expression of a mad man.

He have no right to vouched for the culprit, even if it was his sibling.

"Nothing you could say will ever change my mind! Freyah has to be imprisoned and will be on trial to decide what punishment deserves her treacherous act!

"She almost killed my mate! She shot her with silver bullet, what if Carmela does not have the ability to be immune in silver bullets?

I growled and clenched my fist. I couldn't fathom the next thing that's going to happen if Carmela is not a wolf and Freyah shot her. Although she only did that out of the violence that she witnessed when Carmela was losing control.

But the situation was under my restraint. I am the Alpha and Freyah should have known better.

"I apologized Alpha Jack, Freyah acted without thinking. She will accept whatever you say fit for her crime".

Maleficus stared down on the floor, i know he didn't have a choice. He couldn't save her from the trial. His sister is at fault and she has to suffer for that.

"Send a message to the King and Queen about what happened. I am sure my father won't be pleased."

"Yes Alpha Jack. I am leaving now, rest assured that the Luna will wake up in an hour or so".

I know Maleficus was disappointed but I don't give a damn about that. His sister just proven herself as a traitor to the pack.

I turned away and opened our bedroom door. My eyes flew past Cory and Claire fixing the room from the messed i created when we arrived. I have almost smashed the whole place down. It was both terrifying and depressing, seeing my mate in a motionless state. But Maleficus's words had calmed me down and made me walked out of the room while he treated her.

"Leave me alone with your Luna."

I waved my hand to the maids, ordering them to get out.

"Of course Alpha Jack, we are going out now".

Claire replied before heading towards the door with Cory following her, carrying dirty clothes and cleaning materials.

I watched my mate laying down in our huge bed. The rise and fall of her chest against the soft blanket is visible. Her cheeks have also returned to being rosy pink and her luscious lips are now in color red. Her closed eyelids momentarily moved indicating that she's just asleep. I felt my heart getting warmed by her appearance, I am so thankful she wasn't hurt.

I took a chair and placed it near her, sitting myself down and took her hand to my lap. She is not cold anymore. A sigh escaped my lips. I brought her hand to my cheek and feel her skin against mine. She smelled like fresh peony and I know she's getting back her strength.

I don't even want to think that I have almost lost her, I done want to feel so much pain. She is my life!

I kept on replaying the scene on my mind, how was i not able to stop the bullet when i was there! I couldn't forgive myself for that. It was such a negligence on my part that I haven't discussed with anyone. Things like that should never ever happened again. I would take all measures to protect her and ensure nobody ever hurt her again. Her trainings will be postponed!

I know she is strong but i need someone to protect her even against her own. I swore I could protect her with my life but the people in the palace are not yet linked to her being the Luna of the pack. Our wedding should be held soon. She should be in control with the warriors mind as well. None of that could have happened if every warrior was linked to her. It was a moment where i had neglected the fact that i am the only one who can save her from harm.

The warrior wolves of the pack could smell the dangers for the King and Queen. Which extends to the Alpha and the Luna of the pack. If the gun was aimed for me, the pack warriors would shield their body against mine. If only Carmela was already married to me, then in my absence someone from the pack warriors should have protected her!

I groaned in dismay. Our wedding should be held soon. I will summon all the alliances of the Royal Pack to witness out matrimonial ceremony. All Alphas around the world.

The King and Queen should agree to this. After the ceremony i would assume to be the King Alpha of the wolves. Their dream of traveling the world will be granted and the responsibility of the pack will fall unto my shoulders and my Queen as well.

Now i am not sure if this is a brilliant idea or it would put Carmela at the more danger. But this is our destiny and it has already determined even before she was born.

But one thing i would definitely make sure is that I would die first before someone could lay a hand on my Queen.

My thoughts was cut off when my father, the King mind linked me.

"We've heard what happened. How is Carmela now?

His question was calm but held so much meaning. I know my father is even more dangerous when he sounds gentle.

"Father, it's alright now. Her heartbeat is back to normal. And Freyah is apprehended".

"I was occupied with council meetings but will be heading to your place soon, you're mother is..

He didn't finish what he's going to say I already smelled my mother in the door together with two of the pack’s warriors. The door swung open revealing her figure.

"Damn! She's already her..”

“Oh! Then talk to your mother son”.

I cut off my father in the mind linked and watch as my mother quickly approached with a troubled expression on her face.

"My son, I've heard what happened from Maleficus! Oh how tragic!is Carmela alright now?

My mother stand closed beside Carmela on the bed. Her eyes scanning her body for any sign of injury.

"Hmmm, she looks fine. Thank goodness!

She deeply inhaled and looked around the room, I was glad the mess was already gone.

My mother eyed at her once more and when she felt satisfied by her image, she turned towards me and hug me from my sit.

"How are you feeling Jack, you must be devastated. Don't you ever blame yourself for this! Someone had caused this to happen and that person is going to pay".

"Yes mother! I'm sure Maleficus told you it was Freyah". I was quick to gave her the name.

My mother turned her back from me and put her hand in her waist. She's acting a little confuse, I know her. By the tension of her shoulders.

"Well, have you decided on what to do with her?

Her next question is calm. I know she doesn't want any harm for the people closed to us, who are staying inside the Palace. Specially that Freyah is Maleficus’s sister.

“There will be a trial to face her, the council of the King Alpha will decide. I know father will order whatever i say fit for her! And i want her to suffer! I want her to compensate for what she did”.

“But right now all i ever wanted first, is for my mate to open her eyes”.

I am still furious, I just loosened up a little when I look at Carmela still laying peacefully in bed. My mother was silent for a moment.

She's thinking about what I said. Then I felt her hand against mine, giving me her warmth. Trying to ease away my fears.

“Let me handle the trial son, stay her and care for your mate back to life. Do not bother with Freyah anymore, let your father and I handle this trial instead of you.”

“And then after this, we will have to accept the renewal of allegiance from the Alphas around the four regions.

And you two get ready for the wedding to be held soon. The other Alphas will be here for the ceremony.”

“That time you do not show any sign of weakness son. Make your father proud!

“You are the next Alpha King, you are the one to lead them. And right after the wedding, Carmela will no longer be vulnerable wether inside or outside this palace.”

I stared at my mother amazed by her words, my very thoughts and plans. She had it all figured out before coming here.

My throat is suddenly dry that I had to swallow a lump or I would choke on my words.

“Mother... I am grateful for the thought. T-thank you”.

I took the steps towards her and wrapped her in my arms. I am completely gratified that she’s not just the Queen Luna of the pack but my mother as well.
