The King Alpha's Mate

*Carmela's POV*

I was deeply worried with what happened during the ceremony, when Jack and Alpha Zero almost fought because of Beta Matias. Oh!he isn't Beta anymore, his family was immediately branded as the traitors. He betrayed his Alpha, and now his entire bloodline suffers in return.

After the Pledge of Alliance was done, Jack had been busy with the Pack. Regarding his duties as the King Alpha, that it almost took our time together alone. Although his father the former King, is there to guide him through as the head of his council but Jack have still a ton of work to do. That it has been three days since the last time we had a meal together.

"Queen Luna, the dinner is ready."

Cory's voice have disturbed me from my thoughts, so it's about time for dinner but Jack is not yet home. He had been coming to our chambers so late in the night and then going away early in the morning..

"I'll be there in a second."

I replied and heard her footsteps going away.

I comb my hair and fixed my wrapped around silk dress, I just finished taking a bath and was getting ready for a nice romantic dinner and i was so hoping it would be with my King. It was nearly frustrating for me, when an idea pops inside my head.

“He should come home earlier tonight, I would mind linked him and asked him to come!

I told myself and then I closed my eyes, concentrating on finding where he is. I felt him just inside the Palace grounds.

"My love, won't you come home earlier tonight and perhaps join me for dinner?

I immediately said and waited with patience for his reply.

I heard him cleared his throat and continued talking to someone. But since he kept our linked open I heard everything he said.

"Gemer! I need everyone to searched the entire palace, the dungeons and the vast forest! Freyah, could not have gotten far!

He sounded furious.

"Yes King Alpha. I am going right now. I'm taking a few of the pack's warrior with me".

Gemer sounded nervous and I could feel it through the mind linked.

"Don't forget to mind linked me, whenever you find her or caught the scent on which way she headed!

“Yes Alpha Jack”.

I was surprised to hear the things that had kept him busy. The woman who was considered as Matias's ally and the woman who shot me, the sister of Maleficus have escaped! I remembered the last time when I was shot, and the bullet hit my heart. Jack had stayed with me and he was so mad with Freyah, that i almost thought he would execute her. But the former Queen have dealt with the matter instead.

"Maleficus! Are you certain you have no vision of your sister?

Jack yelled, frustration and outrage laced his voice.

"No my King my sincerest apology, i have been trying to keep track of her ever since she got locked up in the dungeons. But i could not find her now, it's like she's so far away. I couldn't feel the slightest hint of her energy".

The sincere words coming from Maleficus had leaved a frown on the Alpha King's forehead. I could feel his anxiety and doubts. He groaned and slammed his fist in the table. I have not been able to refrain myself from speaking again.

“My King please is there anything I could do to help you?

It makes me sad that he’s occupied and his hands are full while I am just doing nothing in the chambers. Opening our wedding gifts, trying new dresses and admiring our rose garden. Oh those useless things!

That made me felt so unfit as his Queen. I at least have to do something.

"I'm sorry i need to talk to my Queen for a second".

My heart leaped for joy when Jack finally mentioned that he would talked to me.

"Sweetheart, I'll be late again tonight..i hope it's alright. I swear I would make up to you on the next few days".

I heard him sigh and change the tone of his voice into something sweet and caring for me, unlike the way he spoke to Gemer and Maleficus.

"I understand my King, and I..I'm sorry if I disturbed your current meeting. I have no idea you were dealing with a serious pack issues right now. Please let me help”.

I pleaded hoping he would somehow provide something for me to do. A job as his Queen.

“No!

His voice suddenly rise that I have almost jumped from my seat.

“No, Carmela as the Queen Luna you have to be safe and guarded. We are having issues with the rogues, it's..not just about Freyah escaping the jail guards”. “We are also trying to ensure everybody’s safety, and most especially yours!

“What!?

Now my worries have rose to the highest level, it means he's been trying to work on solving the issues with his council alone. He didn't discussed it with me. I groaned in disappointment, what does he intended me for?

“We will talk later..my love please. Do me a favor by keeping yourself safe inside our chambers. Do not go out without two or three guards with you or better yet, inform me before you do”.

A protest is brewing in my mind when he is about to close the mind linked.

“N-no, I’m com...

I was not able to complete my sentence when i heard him closed the linked. Damn!

Now i have to sit around and wait until he returns, but only the Moon Goddess knows what time he would come back tonight. Which left me with no choice. I went back inside our bedroom and head towards our dressing room.

I’ve decided i have to do something, i am not the Luna Queen for nothing. I am strong and blessed with abilities as a werewolf fighter too. It has been proven during my trainings with the warriors pack. Although Jack had decided it wasn’t necessary for me anymore, but i could feel the wolf blood flowing strongly in my veins.

I scan my clothes and looked for my dark hoodie. Then took a pair of black leggings and a sports bra. I slipped out of the sexy dress that’s supposed to be an outfit to welcome my King home. The idea of a romantic night was suddenly tossed in the garbage.

And so i put on my outfit paired with a black boots, ready to go out of the palace and help the warriors.

I don’t need to mind linked the King for this, instead i figured to just mind linked Gemer. The warrior he instructed to searched outside. I closed my eyes ready for the call. It was easy to mind linked the warriors since I became the Queen Luna. One of the privileges that I thought would come in handy for a situation like this.

“Gemer! Can you hear me? Where are you?

Picking up his presence I immediately asked where he is.

“Queen Luna?!

There was a doubt in his voice when he answered. I almost rolled my eyes at the back of my head.

“Yes! I am, and tell me where you are right now!

I grew impatient when it took a couple of seconds before he answered.

“W-well i am with the warriors in searched for a missing prisoner. Do you have something for me to do? Because i would send one of the pack’s next in command. We we’re just near the Palace gates heading for the forest”.

“Yes, send him. I want to help in searched for Freyah”.

Gemer gasped and his voice quivered. He didn’t expect i would know their tasked.

“N-no Queen Luna, the King won’t be pleased if you go out. If i...allow you to come with us, that would endanger my life as well as the warriors who are with me. Not because of the rogues or Freyah, but because of the King himself”.

“The King doesn’t have to know Gemer, i know he won’t be coming home until dawn. I could feel it. Let me just help you trace the footsteps of that woman. I feel as though i am equipped with the skill to track her in a way that none of you could”.

I hope that sound convincing for Gemer, enough that would make him agree.

“N-no you’re majesty, I cannot allow you to come. The King have a strict order and that I can’t disobey.” Please your majesty, if you are concern about the warriors well being do not come with us and defy the King”.

That made me stopped for a while and decided not to insist. Gemer was right, if the King discovered they have allow me to go out in searched for the traitor’s woman. The King will not be happy and they might get punished, because the King will never punish me.

“Alright Gemer, take care and do your job”.

A sighed of relief escaped from his mouth before he bid goodbye to me in the link.

Now i am left with only one option. And that is to help them find the missing prisoner by myself!
