The King Alpha's Mate

*Jack's POV*

A loud howl echoed through the night, which made me rise from my seat. I was alone in the archives studying the territories where the rogues are hiding. My father who was with me few moments ago just retreated for the night and so is Maleficus.

"Carmela!..no!”

The howl sounded like her! I immediately tried to call her on our mind link but she's not answering. My heart begins to pound faster inside my chest! Oh Moon Goddess, please don't let anything bad happens to my Queen!

I know it was her! But I am still hoping that I'm just wrong. My footsteps was quick to run at the nearest door. Slamming it behind me, then I felt Gemer requesting for a mind link.

"Gemer! Did you hear the howl?.

I was the one to first asked the question. I heard a sighed from Gemer before his voice quivered and answered.

"Y-Yes my King, something awful happened.."

"What happened!? And where are you?

Gemer hesitated and I had to groan in frustration before he spoke again.

"We are near the Palace wall on the west side of the gates just a bit farther from your chambers King Apha Jack". There is something important that you needed to see".

"I'll be there in few minutes!

I quickly strip my top and shifted not minding the trousers. As long as my transformation into my wolf form is completed I started running towards the area where Gemer pointed at me.

From afar, I could smell blood..Carmela’s blood mixed with someone unknown. A loud whimper escaped my throat when I arrived at the horrible scene.

“King Alpha! We don't know what to do, we could not pull out the knife from the Queen's heart. It is dangerous because she might bleed out”.

Gemer’s worried voice and dimmed expression did not help the fear and agony that I am feeling inside my chest. The sight is so painful to see, my mate and my Queen is laying there with blood coming out from her chest. I look closer and whimpered loudly trying to wake her up from her unconsciousness.

But she didn’t move a muscle, so i check on the pulse of her left hand. Hearing it feebly beating made me almost lost control. I shifted back into my human form unmindful of my naked body, but worried sick with Carmela’s nudeness against the eyes of the warrior wolves.

“Gemer! Call for Maleficus now, and asked for all the pack doctors inside the Palace. Let them be in our Chambers immediately!

“Y-yes your majesty! Right away my King”.

I heard Gemer giving orders when I started carrying Carmela in my arms, there's a lot of questions inside my head. What could she been doing at this side of the Palace in this time of the night. She was supposed to be just staying inside our chambers waiting for my return!

It could be Freyah’s fault! The which must have lured her to come out, she did this to avenge her lover Matias. To have her revenge against the death of the traitor that she loves. I took a glanced at her terrible death, judging by how she got killed by Carmela’s wolf worm. She deserved everything that happened to her tonight.

“You called for me King Alpha Jack?..Oh! The Queen!

Maleficus appeared in front of me and tried to look at Carmela in my arms. But then he noticed the body of his sister behind.

“Freyah!?

His shocked statement from seeing Freyah’s lifeless body made me question my thoughts.

“Maleficus, are you going to help me save the Queen Luna or are you going to stay here with your sister’s body? I need your answer now! Carmela’s heart is slowly fading away, the Moon Goddess may have forgiven Freyah and Matias but I wouldn’t forgive even their soul if Carmela is harmed!

Maleficus snapped his heard towards me and Carmela in my arms.

“I am with you my King! Fear not, I didn’t see the Queen getting killed in my vision. It was Freyah’s death that i saw last night”. The mistake is that i was not able to point out who’s wolf form got Freyah killed, but now knowing that it is the Queen Luna. We must hurry and removed the silver knife in her heart.”

Immediately Maleficus wave his black stick and transferred us into our luxury room. I put her down in bed and covered her lower body with the sheets, leaving the part where a knife was still stuck inside her heart.

Maleficus chanted words of encouragement and healings before pulling out the silver knife from the Queen’s chest. More blood was quick to overflow from the wound which Maleficus immediately stop with his two hands and closing his eyes in full concentration. Then i saw how the blood stopped and Maleficus continued chanting. When he opened his eyes, he glanced towards me.

“The wounds are already closing my King, rest assured. The Queen is safe now and is just dreaming in her sleep. Her own healing ability is unlike no other”.

I turned my gaze to Carmela’s upper body that is full of blood and still exposed, with a heavy sigh i covered her chest. Then i called for Corry and Claire in the mind link, for them to clean the blood in their Queen’s body.

While I quickly cleaned up myself and got on a pair of clean clothes, Maleficus stood still watching the Queen.

“Maleficus, tell me. Are you upset about the death of your sister in the hands of your Queen Luna?

I asked him directly, i wanted to know so if anything happens I’m aware about the feelings of the people who worked inside the Palace. For our safety, and for Carmela’s security. I cannot have another traitor hiding behind a smile or a fake loyalty.

“N-no my King Alpha, this was just all too sudden. Like i said i already had a vision of her dying in the arms of a strong wolf. I just didn’t know it is the Queen Luna. You knew that Freyah is not really a sister by blood to me, we were only related by same belief and ability and with that i have sworn to protect her like my own sibling.”

I watched his expression change from being soft with fondness to a worried and distressing face.

“I know that Maleficus, i was just trying to learn from you to whom you ought to gave your trust”. I apologized for doubting your loyalty ”.

“No need for apologies my King, you were in a loyalty misconception after what your former beta have done. May I suggest my King that you choose a new beta from the warriors, one that you can trust the life of the Queen and the wolf who’s loyalty have no bounds to you and to the Royal Pack”.

“That is a brilliant idea Maleficus. As soon as the issue with Carmela’s injury is resolved i will choose a new beta and entrust him the safety of our Queen Luna whenever i get occupied or in battle outside the Palace”.

I loooked ahead at a blank space outside the bedroom door. What would happen if Carmela is gone? I gritted my teeth at the thought of losing her, I couldn’t bear to suffer the pain. Some wolves whose mate died did not survive to live again. But she can’t die or vanish because of her duty to the pack and to the Moon Goddess.

We are the chosen wolves who’s rule is to keep the Foyal Pack safe. And to maintain the balance across the wolf lands.

Cory and Claire arrived at the room while the other pack doctors from the Palace Arrived. We will have a very serious talked when Carmela wakes up, I wanted to know what happened and how she went out to find Freyah outside our chambers, and even near the Palace walls.
