The Latest Game Is Too Amazing

Episode 48: Old Dragon Vuivre

"Kaios, it's time to get there."

A wild voice brought my consciousness back to reality. When he took off the hood he was wearing and looked out from inside the carriage, he saw a settlement at the end of a vast field. It looks like a vast forest ahead of the settlement. Is it a settlement that cut open and spread the woods?

"I heard it was near the forest, but it's pretty open."

"That's prejudice. No matter how many elves live in the woods, it's just hard to live deep in the woods. Most of the residents live around here. You can't take off the fields to get everyday food. There's a limit to expanding the field in the woods unless you cut through more woods."

"Elves are a minority race. It's hard to meet people in a town where they live. I never saw a chance until I left the village, either. It's kind of idyllic. Looking at this place reminds me of the village."

"Is this the same atmosphere in Liam's hometown?"

"The atmosphere sounds similar, but it was narrower than here. Because there was a demonic territory nearby that couldn't make the village much bigger. That's why young people who don't carry on their family business often leave for the city."

Liam, the adventurer of the young man in front of him, is pointing a mixed gaze at the settlement. Was it also because Liam did not have a job in his hometown that he took on a dangerous profession like an adventurer fighting demons?

"I can't replace my hometown because I'm bored with young people. Most people out in the city are looking for inspiration. I was surprised when I arrived at Mail Dia. I've never seen a city as big as the countryside. It's amazing. It just screams."

Cornelia, the elf who heard it, was clear. Havok and Emilia, who are you, laugh.

"All right, we're here."

When you get out of the carriage, people gather their gaze as to whether the traveler is rare. Especially the kids.

"Wow, that guy, he's got black hair"

"Hey, you're unusual."

An elf boy and a girl said as they pointed to my head. Shit. I forgot I left my hood down.

Dark-haired humans seem to be rare in this world. I've certainly never met a brunette in this world before.

In one way or another, this world is very similar to the worldview of medieval Europe that is common in RPG (Art Peasy), so the inhabitants of this world also have a wide variety of hair colors, not just blondes, but physical characteristics are similar to those of Westerners, not Japanese. I guess my appearance looks terribly floating in there.

The reason I'm rushing to put on my hood isn't because my appearance is unusual.

"So far, no rumors of Mr. Kaios have spread."

"I don't like a lot of things that come to this settlement, even when I interact with people. At best, it's about the merchants coming and going. That's why we rarely get this far from what happened in Clermont. Well, even if it did, there's not that many people in the settlement, so it shouldn't be that bad."

The attention of the elves is also directed more to Liam and his family than just to me. I guess I'm just paying attention to travelers. I thought it would have been a fuss if it had been Clermont, and I put my chest down.

By the time I retrieved Clermont from the vampires, my name, which saved Roslyne, was already widespread to the people, and when I found out I was Kaios, people were gathering around.

And now he's become too famous to even be known for his appearance. I tried to get to the tool store and the folks found me, so much so that I couldn't laugh at the havoc.

"That was terrible. I thought you'd been crushed."

Liam smiled dry. If he hadn't helped me, I would have been swallowed up by a wave of people just like that. Later, when I found out what was going on, Rosaline called the merchants to the royal palace.

By the way, the merchant said that the black robe, the toy wand would sell.

... Goods business practices are also found in different worlds. I felt the sagginess of a merchant who had a hard time being a merchant, making me feel indescribable.

That's why when I go out in public, I wear a hood so that I don't lose my personality.

"Sister! You're back!

"Celia!

One girl jumped out of the circle of elves wanting to see how this one was doing, feeling bright and rustic. Cornelia greets the girl with a smile. The girl also responded with a smile.

If you look at the two faces, I guess the girl is younger than Cornelia. If you do poorly, you are left with the same or slightly older age as Alexia.

Hmm? That?

"Hey, Liam. Maybe that girl."

"Looks like it."

Seriously - I unintentionally ask back in my heart.

I had originally heard from Cornelia, but I couldn't contain the shock if I looked at her face. There are times when I used to be, but my common sense of living in modern Japan makes me think it's impossible.

I can't believe that girl is the bride.

"Kaios, it may be rare where you live, but it's not so surprising that even young women are married in this neighboring country. Elves in particular have a longer life span than humans and a longer younger life span. It's possible he's getting old against his looks."

Havok, who got off the carriage late, points out. If you ask me, many of the elves gathered look old but young.

And the lines that tend to be in the image of elves are thin, not all of them are elves called aesthetic shapes, some are fat and many have rough body elves. It was more like having elf ears on people. Are there individual differences in having long ears, and many young people have short ears. I misunderstood this area because Cornelia was a typical imaginary elf, slender and clean, but there seems to be a personal difference, just like people.

"What, and Cornelia?

"You're not too impressed to ask how old a woman is. Nell is one step below Liam. Even when it comes to elves, they grow as much as humans until they grow up. You think it's just easier to get old?... from a woman, you're a jealous species."

Emilia had her twisted gaze at the elves somewhere. Well, if you want to grow up, anyway, not many people will want to grow old, and everyone will yearn for a long time of youth.

... I decided to think so.

"Sister, are you staying with us today?

"... No, I'll let you stay somewhere else. I don't know what I'm gonna say when I see him face to face."

"Sister......"

Celia looks sad.

"It's okay, I'll be quiet at the wedding. If you tell me not to have a wedding until I get here, I'll have to celebrate. Worst case scenario, because if I run wild, I'll have everyone stop me."

Cornelia answers with a bitter smile. Celia's gaze is pointed at us.

"I feel sorry for Nell about this."

Liam blurted to make sure Celia didn't hear him.

It was still difficult to celebrate this marriage with honesty because I really stand at the sight of Cornelia I know. Havok and Emilia are relatively neutral, but Liam in particular is completely Cornelian.

If I tell you, this is right that I came to Cornelia's hometown as a deterrent when Cornelia runs wild, which Cornelia expects more than to come to celebrate her marriage.

I hear Celia is Cornelia's childhood friend and a child who has been adoring her like her sister. So I guess her marriage is supposed to be a celebration to be celebrated.

But the problem is who she marries.

Celia's married partner, that's Cornelia's father.

They say the other world doesn't have a problem with being relatively young enough to get married, but they don't really like these cases in terms of mood in any other world. My heart would be more complicated to be a mother younger than myself, but it seemed unforgivable to Cornelia that my sister-in-law, who was almost identical to my family, would be my stepmother.

Apparently Cornelia doesn't have very good feelings for her own father, and she got angry knowing that the two of them were getting married, leaving her hometown behind.

At last Cornelia also returned to her hometown with a fold to herself, but still it does not seem that her dull thoughts have disappeared.

I knew you were out of place, me. It's still going to take some time for the squeaky Cornelia and Celia to return to their original relationship.

It echoes in the woods in retreat and noise. Monkeys with long fangs of black haired hands were running away from the trees.

"Don't miss it! Nell! Kaios!

At last I cast my magic at the behest of Havok. But Cornelia is faster than me. The arrow she unleashed pierced the monkey's hand precisely. The monkey, screaming and slipping his hand, falls from the top of the tree.

I hid in the trees and couldn't see the monkey, but after a while from the sound of falling down, when a high voice reached my ear, I flashed my face.

"Good luck."

Liam came back with a sword stained with blood. Looks like he stabbed the stomach as soon as he was rushing out after the monkeys whose allies started to get hit and escape. Now we've defeated all the enemies around here.

"But you still have demons around here."

"There's no such thing as a full-time adventurer around here. The inhabitants of the settlement have no choice but to exterminate the demons. But I can't deal with all the demons because I have my normal life, and I'm in danger for my life. I don't make enough money to earn a living here because I can only take my fur. But if you leave it alone, the crop will be damaged."

"Wherever the situation is, we're together."

The demon you defeated is a miscellaneous fish. If that's my level, I'm only strong enough to defeat one person, even if I'm surrounded. Still, from the inhabitants, it is a life-threatening beast, a dangerous creature to fight.

"So it would be helpful if everyone could help us get rid of it."

"They're feeding me a good meal instead, naturally."

"The unworkable don't eat," he said.

We are fighting demons in these woods to return the favor we received from the inhabitants.

Ever since I arrived at the settlement in Cornelia's hometown, I have rented empty houses in the settlement where there have been some, not her parents', to stay. When the residents found out that Cornelia was the guest they brought, they raised the settlement and welcomed them. In return, Havok proposed to exterminate demons appearing around the settlement, and everyone else agreed.

But you're not helping. Most of the demons were defeated by the Havoks, and they could only cover enough to cover them at best. Nor does it use any magic that would attack directly with all the magic that would seal enemy movements like 'Chainbind'.

If a party member defeats a demon as a game, all party members receive EXP. So you don't have to be active at a party, in extreme terms you can gain experience without moving a step and not having to attack once.

The same applies to this world, which is a different world. If Havok and the others defeat the demons, they will distribute my experience. Even if I haven't even struck a demon.

People who have not been able to contribute in battle but only benefit from experience and such are called parasites in the game and hate them, but I am now exactly close to it. No, it's more their life-threatening job, and they're worse off than the game.

Still resistant to direct attacks against demons. By the time I got here, I had rushed the carriage as fast as I could to avoid combat, but I could manage to use magic in the form of inhibition of behavior due to abnormal conditions.

But no enemies can be defeated in any such place. It is the Havoks who are actually getting their hands dirty. I'm just pushing someone else to do my dirty work.

At that time, when I ran into a Vixel soldier in Clermont, I was going to stop him with the same magic. But we were at war then. The immobile soldier is no different from the duck. If I had encountered a Vixel soldier and had a Commune soldier beside me at that time, I am sure that the defenseless Vixel soldier would have been stabbed in the stomach.

Reminds me how shallow I was. He seemed to have a full head and narrower horizons then. If even one of the gears hadn't meshed, he probably wouldn't be here right now.

No, when I think of it, all the negative thoughts come to mind. I have to change my mind.

"That shitty dad, where are you walking?"

On his way back to the settlement, Cornelia seemed sincerely grumpy and evil.

Apparently, her father and wedding bridegroom, the person, is out of the settlement and traveling. I thought I didn't have to go on a journey before the ceremony, but they were planning to hold the ceremony as Cornelia returned. Since the timing of that Cornelia's return was unknown, all I can say is that this was a bad time.

"Nell's father is a chief, isn't he? Are you all right? Leave the settlement alone."

"There are elders, and yes, it's not going to happen that we need a sheikh, so there's no problem running the settlement. It's been a long time since he left the settlement, and I'm used to it."

"You're somehow a free father."

Cornelia was in tune with Havok's groaning voice.

"I get it. ⁉ Already, that shitty father is running too far! I always thought I was out there flirting with a woman somewhere! Sometimes a woman I don't know used to come to the settlement! It's not weird having a sister or brother while I don't know! Whenever I see a child whose hair color or eyes look just like that shitty father, how frightened I am!

If she's right, she's a no-good father with a typical cheating habit.

"It changes the story, but if you were born between an elf and a human, would you still be as long as an ear or an elf?

I asked him what he doubted. There's also a slight backdrop to letting him change the subject from his father's story.

"Being born between a human and an elf doesn't necessarily mean you'll have long ears. Physical traits are things that we don't know until we're born whether to leave human traits or elf traits. Sometimes I can't tell if it's half. He used to assume that even half elves were human without realizing it. But generally, life expectancy is longer than human life."

"Well, you've got quite a few half-elves."

"Right. There are also people who have moved to this settlement. Though the old folks have a lot of pure elves. People used to be repelled from having elves. But there is no sin in the child who was born. It's more of a problem with guys who make unspecified women, or hands on girls whose daughters have been adoring them like sisters."

Oh, it was a snake.

"You know Liam, too. I can't believe my sister, who was so adorable that she didn't even want to put it in her eyes, would marry me under a damned woman. Besides, he's the father I've known since my sister was little."

"I know, I'll never forgive him."

Liam, who has a real sister, is totally on Cornelia's side. Well, as far as her story is concerned, there's no room for sympathy for her father.

Though I don't think the two of them will storm in the middle of the ceremony for as much as they want, this air that passes on tingling hits my stomach.

I figured out how Havok invited me to this settlement first, not Cornelia. I had just a little grudge against Havok. When I turned my gaze on him, I blew a whistle that didn't even sound. I stumbled away. That bastard.

"It's the one your sister chose. I have to bless you."

That is Emilia, the healer of the party. Moving to sink their anger as it burns. Don't rely so much more than Havok, whose stock is falling admirably.

"But I'd be worried if my cheating habits were to recur again because I was calm."

Although Cornelia also managed to agree to the marriage, her anxiety seems to be endless. Emilia said with a few ideas.

"Um, yeah. I cried at her."

"At that time?

"Let's snuff it up."

Drop your eyes on nature and the mace she usually uses.

Mr. Emilia, I was not willing to ask you why or what you would squeeze. Havok and Liam's faces are distorted when their faces are raised. I must have had the same look on my face.

Suddenly there was a strong wind. Everyone looks up at the sky.

"Hmm? He is……………."

Capture small black dots from the gaps in the trees.

"Dragon?"

"Right. It's a lot bigger than a regular dragon. Dragonflights can't fly like this. Maybe it's a wild dragon."

I didn't know if it was a dragon, but something pretty huge is flying in. I checked on the map and it showed a huge green marker.

The green marker that is originally displayed on the map means that it is not hostile and friendly, such as NPC (Enupsy) or player. A regular demon should be shown with a red marker.

So is this dragon friendly? Of course there are others as friendly as Elizabeth, who was a ghost.

I can't say for sure that this dragon is a truly friendly demon. Because I have trouble explaining how I know it's a friendly demon, and more importantly, it doesn't necessarily mean that the friendly beings recognized on the map don't attack me.

War between humans in Clermont during this time. This was fought with Vixel and the Commune intruding, in which Dear Alexia and other Vixel soldiers had been identified as being green friendly on the map. Of course, the Commune soldiers were identified in green, so I couldn't tell which enemy side was on the map.

In other words, the criteria for identifying friendly beings on this map are very vague. If that criterion was only against me, I couldn't be sure it wasn't necessarily hostile to the Havoks, but safe.

"That dragon, didn't it come this way?"

Everyone turns pale in Liam's trembling voice. The black dots that did look flashy are getting clearer and the dragon-like green markers are getting closer even after checking the maps.

The dragon is a fairly strong demon, even on a pedigree basis. Even the game is pinky, but if you become the top dragon, that's about as strong as being instantly killed on my level right now. Anyway, if you're transferring and you're in a secondary position, you won't be able to fathom yourself if you fight with the Havoks, who are only on the same level.

"To, we're getting away!

Escape to Havok's words.

- But it was too late.

There was a rapidly approaching green marker on the map that was being displayed. It's not a very human speed.

Look up at the sky with certainty. Definitely, that's the dragon I witnessed then.

"I'm here, I'm here, I'm here. Aah! I'm running away!

"You mustn't run off to the settlement! I'll even wind up with the residents!

"But where are you telling me to run!

Is it the idiotic power of the fire, we would have run faster than we went? Still, it wasn't a relief. Because flying dragons are faster than humans.

Escape to where many of the trees thrive, but have poor vision. But I don't even have time to turn around and check the dragon. A gust of wind shook the trees hard. I can see that something flew away over my head.

No. This is not good. He rushed to make a change of direction, but the tree was pushed down with a glimmer and noise. Sliding the giant into it so as to open the gap in the forest and crushing it was a sweeping word.

Dragons with dark shades of skin standing on four legs look down with deep red eyes. And he roared majestically with his wings in heaven. The roar is loud enough to rock the trees around. We didn't have to wear butt cakes.

"No, I'm sorry. Lord, are you residents here?

When I wondered if the dragon was going to burst, suddenly a voice sounded like no one else.

A high voice specific to a woman. It doesn't belong to Cornelia or Emilia. Though I wondered, there are still no other women around.

The threatening dragon lowered its wings and lowered its neck a lot.

"Uh, I'm sorry to surprise you. A concubine. A dragon in front of me."

The dragon lowered its head in an apologetic voice.

"Oh, I mean, I didn't mean to hurt you."

"For when a man sees a concubine, he is frightened. I can't help but get it wrong. Basically, few intelligent dragons hate people. But there are dragons that hate people. The story of the dragon that burned the country was passed on not so long ago. Concubines don't want to go on and argue with people, and they usually stay away from people deep in the woods to avoid trouble."

"It was a long time ago that it wasn't so long ago..."

Liam has a headache or presses her temples.

"My concubine's name is Vuivre. The north has become noisy lately. That's why I looked for the perfect place to build a nest with few people from the sky."

"Did something happen in the north that it got noisy? Maybe there's a vampire out there."

"The concubine spent time in a forest between the land inhabited by men and the land to the north. The demons came from the North. Demons living on the northern earth are hostile to their concubines. If you encounter it, you have to fight it. Your concubine will never lose, but she has too many enemies. Then you fled south."

The demon movement seems to be revitalizing, does that mean that the demons in the northern earth attacked Vuivre in the same way?

"The North is a place where the evil gods have made up their minds."

"Oh, yeah. I don't want to remind you too much, but my concubine came to the showdown. Perhaps the demon told us about the concubine."

"Hey, survive the mythical age ⁉"

Liam is surprised at Vuivre for not listening.

"Don't you know the name of the concubine? My concubine was young at the time - no, I'm still not a pitch-pitch."

"No, you've lived since the Mythological Age, but you don't have it."

Boosh and Havok squeak. But for some reason, Emilia was staring, not at Vuivre. It's not a glance at you for pinching your mouth. It's obviously something that contains personal grievances.

Havok closes his mouth lightly. Apparently, Vuivre listened and kept talking.

"Because I fought my demon opponent without a step. I guess that got me scared of demons. It's ironic to forget the demons that were your enemies, but to be forgotten by those who were your allies. Then maybe I can't help it. As soon as the battle against the evil gods was over, people took the land from each other and started a war. Dragons are stronger than people. Then some people tried to use the concubines. The dragons who were disgusted by the battle turned away from people and refused to interact."

"I can't believe we're using dragons. You just seem like a bad person."

Vuivre disagrees with Emilia's words.

"Some of those guys aren't the only ones. Don't just measure people for their evil behavior. Once we fought evil gods and demons together, the appearance of our comrades is still so clearly burned in the eyes of our concubines. They worked so hard to survive, they were never evil, they were brave enough to be proud that they fought together. If I knew that, I'd hate people. I can't cut it. A lot of dragons don't have animosity with people because of their thoughts. But sadly, it's just a personal story. Some people hate you."

The look on Vuivre's face is hard to understand, I don't know how he feels. But the voice sounded terribly gentle and sad.

"Hmm? Lord, it's a little different."

The sinking Vuivre suddenly lowered his long neck and brought his face closer to me, sniffing his nostrils swelling.

"Are you changing? Is there anything wrong with that?

I smell myself as I drop my gaze and look at my body. Do I smell like shit? I know what others smell, but I don't know what I smell.

"People are not created by God. Of course dragons like concubines do the same thing. Everything that lives in this world is created by God."

That sounds fantastic. If Vuivre says he actually fought God, he has a lot of credibility. Evolutionary theory doesn't seem to work in this world.

"Yet your Lord's body seems a little different from that created by God. It's like a golem made to look like a man."

I was struck like I was pierced through my chest.

There is a demon in this world called the Golem. A doll demon made of mud and rock created by the Evil God, it is a slightly special demon that needs to be damaged and destroyed by the gem inside the doll to defeat it.

Does the reputation for being like such a golem mean that maybe Vuivre is uncomfortable with this body created as a character?

Vauvre's question is undoubtedly correct. Because if you look only at the outside, it's not unlike reality, but it doesn't exhaust you no matter how much you run, you can use the skills set in the game and other things that are not feasible in the real world body.

It seems more correct that you are moving a doll that looks just like you.

"But the soul seems like a man. And its soul, like I miss it somewhere. No, I don't think so...... Uhm, what is this?"

Vuivre seemed confused. Cornelia and the others also have a suspicious look on their words.

"Golem? That sounds crazy. I don't care what you think. You just look like a human."

"I'm not judging you by your appearance. What the concubine says is the smell that the soul emits, which is the contents of the flesh and vessel that is the vessel. The concubine can smell it apart. This is individually different, but the smell is similar depending on the species. Because concubines also feel different from men, as beasts have a sharp sense of smell, unlike men. Dragons in particular are also powerful among the species created from God. Perhaps people don't have this feeling either, or maybe it's dull. Anyway, there's a difference between that smell and people's hands."

"There's a smell in my soul, too."

I'm curious and smell myself again, but I still couldn't smell what Vuivre said. No such strange skill exists in the game either. At least it looks about the same as the people in this world when it comes to smell.

Vuivre raised his long neck.

"Fair enough. If it concerns the birth of the Lord, it may be natural for the Lord not to know. Besides, it's been a long time since my concubine has spoken to humans properly. Perhaps the senses are dull."

He tried not to put it on his face and gave it a flat look, but his heart was relieved.

Maybe I don't have to worry about this if I reveal to everyone that I'm a different person. But I didn't know what impact it would have on me.

So I'm not sure if I'm going to talk or not, and I'm not going to be able to reveal that after all. That's hindsight.

"It's time to go back. I'm sure some of them saw Vuivre from the settlement. It will remain a fuss. If you don't tell the settlers that Vuivre is harmless, it could be troublesome."

"Right. Everyone in the settlement wouldn't do anything stupid to get hit by a dragon either, but they might be anxious. Let's go home early."

Convinced by the words of Havok and Cornelia. A friendly dragon is coming. If you can avoid trouble and coexist with the dragon, you better coexist.

"Right. Vuivre, I'm sorry, but we're going home now. Everyone is worried."

"It would be nice if the concubine could send him, but it would make a lot of noise by rejecting him. I'm sorry, but I want you to tell the people who live near this forest the upside of things. He wants his concubine to live in this forest. Unless the concubine can do harm, she must do harm to what lives in the settlement."

"Okay, I promise. But we're not residents of the settlement, so I'll get back to you with a formal response."

"I don't mind. In the concubine, the inhabitants shall also be frightened. You owe the lords. If anything, let me promise you that my concubine will help. If you need help, you should call your concubine in this forest. Bye!"

Saying so, Vuivre flew away. I was talking to the dragon earlier. Turn back to the settlement with a real sense of following fantasy.

"Oh, I'm glad you're a warmer, more rational dragon than I thought."

"Not at all. When they threatened me, I thought it was over."

Havok exhaled deeply. Well, he was in front of me until just now, when he was so overwhelmed that he was sure he would be killed. I can't help it.

I remember the moment when Vuivre was about to find out who I was.

If someone realizes who I am, like Vuivre, what action should I take?
