The Legend of Min Hong

Chapter 486: Building Connections

Then about five minutes later, Min Hong was handed a palm sized golden tag which had the structure of a grotto etched on it with the characters 'Fallen God City' just below it, whilst it had the characters 'Huan Yi' on the other side…

Then another set of ten smaller but similar badges was also handed over to him with the same name on the back which Min Hong thought would be treated as his household name, so whenever anyone within his group leaves the residence and gets stopped by the patrol guards, they would be able to know that the person was affiliated to him…

After a bit of more explanation and direction, the person within the Tag booth told Min Hong to wait a bit as they arranged a carriage for them which would take them to their specified residence…

"Where are the rest of your men, Huan Ji?" Min Hong asked;

"We live at the edges of the desolate zone…"

"Desolate zone?"

"What's that?" Gong Yi was also stumped by the name of the area;

"Well, this city is divided into three rings with the inheritance ground being located at the core of these rings…"

"The closest ring to the inheritance ground is termed the Imperial Zone, because this is the area where all the representatives of the Four Empires as well as the main hub of the Fallen God Alliance is located…"

"It is a quiet, private and extremely restricted area which no one other than the representatives of these Imperials can gain access into…"

"Then the next ring after this ring is where all the merchants, inns, auction sites, restaurants and every other businesses are being set up, and this place is basically always busy, noisy and is more of a marketplace than anything else, and it is called the Vibrant Zone…"

"This is because it is closer to the inheritance grounds, the Imperial Zone and finally situated within the market, so people don't have to go a lengthy distance just to buy whatever they want and need…"

"Then the last ring is called the Desolate Zone, and it is the farthest away from the inheritance ground, and it is the most private, quiet and serene area of the entire city, even more than the Imperial Zone…"

"Thus, it is a place wealthy people who come into this city move into so as to peacefully enjoy their stay or peacefully conduct whatever business they have come here to do…" Huan Ji explained;

"So your group are able to afford the area, or is the pay from the Fallen God Alliance that good?" Min Hong pushed on;

"No way, we can never afford such a place, and instead we live at the farthest edge of the Desolate Zone which you can also call the edge of the entire city itself…"

"The place is more like the backyard of the area you will be staying, and it's a hidden little town and we barely live on the crumbs left behind by the wealthy people who live in the Desolate Zone…"

"Furthermore, since we are all members of the Fallen God Alliance, the wealthy people who live there consider us as their personal guards, since we are at such close proximity to them, and they have even been some business being conducted by us mercenaries who live at the edge and the wealthy people…"  Huan Ji continued;

"So basically, they treat you guys as a defensive wall guarding their back…."

"Yes, and thus, they can focus on the shenanigans, hubbub and commotion happening from their front yard through the Vibrant Zone, and since you will be staying at the penthouse, you would be able to even see the insides of the Imperial one and even catch a glimpse of the Inheritance Grounds…" Huan Ji finished Gong Yi's explanation…

"It is a good place to live indeed…"

Min Hong could picture the area just from the explanations he had heard just now, and he was certain the place would be truly nice;

"Good afternoon young masters, I will be your chauffer for today…"

An old man who seemed to be about 50 years in appearance interrupted their conversation as Min Hong looked to the lady who registered them, and after the lady gave him a smiling nod of verification, Min Hong's group followed the man towards an unassuming carriage which was already parked at the entrance of the registration building…

Min Hong scanned the man and was shocked to realize that he actually had a 6 Star Saint Stage cultivation base, but he didn't say anything yet, as they all followed the man towards the carriage…

This carriage in itself was made from wood, but Dara could tell from the texture, depth and tensile strength of these woods that it was specifically and uniquely picked for this carriage, and it's roof was also made from the hid of a beast Min Hong was shocked to find out belonged to an actual Magic Beast…

"Royalty is indeed the merger of sheer class and overwhelming wealth!"

Daniel and Little Fei couldn't help but comment respectively; this was equivalent to Min Hong slaughtering Little Ming or Elder Yun and then using their flesh to simply roof a carriage, such level of disregard for treasure is something mind boggling…

Then in that exact moment, Min Hong decided that he had to meet with the person who owns the business, because he knew it didn't belong to the old man;

But before someone can leave such an expensive carriage in his care, then the old man must be very close to the business owner who Min Hong was targeting…

The Carriage was parked at the doorstep of the building, but there was still a slight gap where people could see the people who hired the carriage, and if they knew better like Min Hong, then the talk of Min Hong's group might spread all through the city…

But the old man simply walked up to the carriage and opened the double door on the carriage outwardly, and this blocked the slight gap between the carriage and the building as some people outside the registration building began to stretch their necks, but no matter how hard they tried, they could see anything…

Min Hong's group on the other hand were witnessing a very stunning sight, because the interior of the carriage they were looking at was mind blowing…

It was made out of the skin of a blue skinned marine beast because of the way it shimmered with multicolored light which was reflecting from the gem which hung downward from the roof of the carriage like a chandelier…

As for the seats, they were covered in snow white pristine furs which looked extremely furry from the distance, and the moment Min Hong's group entered and sat on it, their bodies sank deep into the seat which indicated how fluffy it was…

Min Hong had caught sight of the beast which would be pulling the carriage and it looked like a panther from its bulk, and also had the skin complexion of a puma which stood between deep purple and pitch black…

Min Hong sat very close to the blinder that kept their privacy from the driver in front of the carriage as he asked;

"How do you often reply to those people that ask you why you are working as a chauffer when you could have a better life with your level of cultivation?"

The driver was slightly taken aback, but then he smiled before responding;

"I simply reply; there is no other job out there that is this rewarding, young master…"

"Oh really?" Min Hong was stunned;

"Yes really…"

"Your boss must really treat you right…"

"Yes he does, and he takes care of my family too…"

"Yeah I figured…"

"If you don't mind young master, could you tell me how you figured it out?" The Old man got more interested in the conversation;

"Well, if we take the value of the materials used to construct a carriage of this quality, then one would know that the person who owns the business is a very wealthy one…"

"Then the fact that they could give the job of driving it to a person of your age means your boss is a very humble person, and the fact that you actually defended his honor and that of his business instantaneously means he must be a very respectful and dear person to you…"

"But if he was simply taking care of you, then you shouldn't be so happy, which means there are other commitments he had made to you which causes you to be so happy working for him, and for someone of your age, it can't simply be shelter or food or lifestyle, thus, I was sure it was something you truly care about; Family…"

"Sorry, for making reference to your age over and over again…"

Min Hong apologized after his explanation but received no response from the man for about three long minutes, and Gong Yi could understand why;

If he could be stunned speechless by Min Hong's train of thought without being the focus of the conversation, then how much more stunned would the person in question be?

"You have me speechless, young master…"

"But you are absolutely right, and I don't mind being addressed by my age, after all, one's age is not something anyone should be ashamed of…" The Old Man responded;

"That's fantastic, I like the nature of your boss, and if it is truly as you have said, I don't mind doing business with him; as a matter of fact, those are the kind of people I would rather do business with…" Min Hong spoke softly and absentmindedly, but did so on purpose;

"But what kind of business would you like to do with my boss, because it wouldn't be nice if I just bring anyone to his doorstep just because they said they would do business with him…"

"Moreover, he seems to have a lot he is currently invested in…" The Old Man explained;

"How about giving him a slot into the Inheritance Grounds?"

"Does that sound lucrative enough?"

"Y-you- young ~Ahem~"

The Old Man was so stunned by Min Hong's statement that he choked on his response and had to cough heavily to clear his throat;

"Is everything alright?" Min Hong asked from with a cunningly smug grin, as the man nodded in reply…
