The Legendary Pseudo-villain
Chapter 58 - Sold!
It was only the first item of the auction and there was already a bidding war in motion so of course, it was only natural that the auctioneer was delighted with it and his joy couldn't be hidden in his voice as he looked at the one in seat 44 and questioned, "Three million Lenix! Can we hope to see a higher bid?"
The guest sitting in seat 44 was actually a girl whose age could not be guessed by Hecathe who couldn't clearly see her face that was covered with a half mask. Like everyone else here, it seemed that she also wanted to hide her identity.
She wore dark black clothes that were body-hugging; a style that showed off all her curves and perfectly defined her body figure. She also came here wearing a fur coat that was grey in colour and looked to be of high quality but she had already taken it off by now and the fur coat casually hung on the seat beside hers.
Since she was wearing a half mask, the lower part of her face could be seen and even Hecathe had to agree that the woman surely had beautiful lips that could even be compared to a celebrity's features.
The woman smirked as she looked up at Raven before holding up four fingers.
"Four million Lenix! This is getting very intense with our dear guest up at seat 44 joining the war!"
As expected, she was stupid as well...
There was not even a gap of a few minutes as Raven immediately responded with five fingers.
"Five million Lenix from the gentleman who refuses to back down!" The auctioneer chuckled as he announced.
The woman sighed as she once again bid higher.
"Six million Lenix from the kind lady that is seated in seat 44!" The auctioneer beamed, "It seems that this place is getting really intense today! We should all look forward to a very interesting auction!"
As Hecathe heard the two going into a war against each other, he couldn't help but have the sudden thought that maybe he should also open an auction house.
After all, most of the money earned through the auction would go to the auction house so the higher the bid is, the higher these people were going to be paid for organizing this auction.
"T-ten million Lenix!" The auctioneer stuttered as he saw Raven holding up all his ten fingers. The man was certainly good at his job and there was no doubt about it that he had seen all kinds of crazy auctions but at this moment, even he seemed to be a little surprised and this was to be expected considering the fact that this was only their first item to be auctioned off today.
Hecathe's mouth opened ever so slightly in awe as he cautiously looked at the woman sitting in seat 44.
Would she top that or would she let it go?
By this time around, the smirk that was previously on the woman's face couldn't be seen anymore as she gritted her teeth and called out another bid.
"T-twenty million Lenix! You hear that, everyone? Our generous guest from seat 44 has placed a bid of twenty million Lenix!" The auctioneer looked as if he was so happy that he would start flying at any given moment now.
Everyone enthusiastically looked up at Raven as they waited in anticipation for the man to place a higher bid but only Hecathe who noticed the man smiling could understand what the conclusion of this war was going to be.
"Eh? Is the gentleman at seat 87 admitting defeat?" The auctioneer questioned out loud in confusion as he looked at Raven and Raven simply nodded in turn without even feeling the least bit embarrassed by it.
"T-then Twenty million Lenix going once!"
Hecathe gulped as he wondered what was going inside Raven's head at this moment.
"Going twice!"
Everyone was silent as they glanced between the woman and Raven.
"Going thrice!" The auctioneer breathed out as he announced, "And sold!"
The place once again got noisy as people started talking amongst themselves.
From that wicked smile that Raven gave in the end, Hecathe was already able to tell that the man wouldn't be calling a higher bid. This was only natural since the bidding amount had already crossed so high, but Hecathe felt that there was something else that he couldn't see.
For some reason, he couldn't knock off the feeling that Raven never joined this bidding war with the intention to win, he joined it with the intention to make the price rise like that.
"And our lovely guest sitting in seat 44 would be taking home the eternal flame that was sold for twenty million Lenix!" The auctioneer didn't look to be disheartened by Raven's withdrawal in the least as he announced and this was only natural since he had already managed to make a lot of profit with such a high bid today.
"It's only the first item of the day and it has already managed to stir you all up like this. It really makes me wonder how interesting and crazy the bidding would be for our special item of the day," The auctioneer chuckled as he commented, "I look forward to a great and fair auction today as well!"
Even Hecathe couldn't help but wonder. If the price for the first item was already going to be this crazy, how crazy would the bidding war at the end be?
Most of the people were here for that special item so it would not only be two people fighting against each other.
All of the people here would be joining the war...
Now that he thought about this, Hecathe couldn't help but wonder what the special item prepared was.
Was it something that he would also be interested in buying?
"With that said, let us not waste any further time and get to the next item of the day," The auctioneer beamed, "Just like the first one, this is also a rare item that you would not be able to find easily."
