The Legendary Pseudo-villain
Chapter 63 - Ten Trillion?!
"One?" The auctioneer looked to be confused yet again as he questioned, "One trillion Lenix?!"
Hecathe chuckled as he shook his head and informed that the man had got it wrong.
"T-Then?"
Hecathe clap his hand as he stood up and straightened his back before casually walking forward towards the balcony edge.
With a wide smile on his face, Hecathe raised his voice and announced it himself, "One hundred Mutant beads!"
"..."
The whole auction house went silent for a few minutes as everyone slowly processed what they had just heard.
"One hundred mutant beads?" The auctioneer tilted his head in confusion as he informed, "I'm sorry to say this, Sir but you won't be able to win the bid with that."
"Tch- what a cheapskate! You didn't even have enough money to save me and you still dare try to control me?!" The Dorgon didn't sound too happy as he mocked Hecathe.
Hecathe straightforwardly ignored the Dorgon as he responded to the auctioneer, "Let me rephrase that."
Hecathe took a deep breath in as he once again spoke up, "One hundred pure undamaged mutant beads."
"!!!"
"Do you still feel like it's an unfair trade?" Hecathe smirked as he questioned and the auctioneer gulped as he looked at Hecathe in shock.
Mutant beads were certainly expensive and would sell very well in an auction, however, there was a particular type of mutant bead that would sell for a comparatively unimaginable high price and Hecathe just so happened to have that kind.
Normally people would hunt mutants for their beads and in the process, the mutant bead would somewhat be damaged no matter how skilled or careful a hunter or a mage was, however, there were very rare occasions when a mutant would kill itself or kill another mutant and in that scenario, the mutant bead extracted would be completely undamaged making it almost priceless.
"S-Sir," The auctioneer stuttered, "May I ask... If we can first check and confirm if you are really telling the truth or not?"
Hecathe chuckled as he felt a little amused to hear this, "Why would I be lying? If you want to check, you can go ahead."
Hecathe took out something from his pocket and carelessly threw it down towards the auctioneer who stumbled as he caught it.
"You will never get to see a mutant bead as precious as this one," Hecathe added confidently with a smirk.
"So, that!" Hecathe pointed up at the egg as he questioned, "I win it?"
The auctioneer gulped as he tested the bead and after confirming Hecathe's words to be true, he looked up cautiously as he slowly nodded his head.
"One hundred purely undamaged mutant beads... Placed by the guest sitting up in seat number 17...!" The auctioneer announced and Hecathe nodded in satisfaction as he moved back and casually sat down on the sofa.
Unbeknownst to Hecathe, by doing such a thing, he had managed to catch a lot of eyes but it was not because he had won the bid, rather, it was because he didn't know that the special item everyone was here for today was exactly what he had offered in exchange for that Dorgon egg.
The special item was a single undamaged mutant bead!
A man loudly laughed as he heard this entire exchange, "How can you accept the pure mutant beads as a bid? Wasn't there a rule that states only monetary value could be used to place a bid?"
Everyone immediately looked up as they heard the man speaking rather rudely.
"There is no way anyone can place a higher bid if you allow this. It's simply unfair to the rest of us," The man added as he stood up from his place and glared at the auctioneer.
Hecathe had never seen this man before so he was sure that he hadn't offended the man either.
The auctioneer looked to be a little reluctant as he glanced between the man and Hecathe, wondering how he was supposed to handle this situation professionally.
Hecathe sighed as he decided that it was best for him to speak up for himself, "Brother, are you unhappy because there is no monetary rate placed as a bid?"
The man turned to look at Hecathe with cold piercing eyes and Hecathe looked to be completely unfazed by it.
"Then we can just solve it by putting a monetary value on it," Hecathe smirked as he turned back to face the auctioneer, "How about I sell you those pure mutant beads?"
"Eh?" The auctioneer blinked in confusion as he tried to understand what Hecathe was trying to say.
"I'm asking how much are you willing to pay for them?"
The auctioneer looked to be a little surprised as he tilted his head and gave it a thought, "Then... Would the guest up at seat 17 be happy to sell this to the house for one trillion Lenix?"
"Are you joking with me?" Hecathe didn't even bother thinking about it as he immediately responded, "Or do you think I'm dumb?"
The auctioneer gulped as he immediately shook his head, "T-that's not it!"
"Ten trillion Lenix," Hecathe spoke up confidently as he informed, "I'm not going any lower than that."
The auctioneer's eyes widened and the same reaction could be spotted in the faces of most of the people who were present in this auction house.
That would make one hundred billion per bead," Hecathe smirked as he easily calculated, "It sounds like a good deal, don't you think?"
The auctioneer gulped as he slowly nodded after thinking about it thoroughly.
"Then your problem is also solved?" Hecathe looked up at the man who had laughed at him and tried to cause trouble.
The man didn't look to be the least bit impressed nor did he look too happy as he gritted his teeth and sat back down on his seat.
"If there is anyone who would want to place a higher bid, please go right ahead," Hecathe looked around as he stated.
Ten trillion Lenix?
There would naturally not be anyone who would place a higher bid and Hecathe seemed to have clearly known this.
Hecathe chuckled as he shook his head and informed that the man had got it wrong.
