The Legendary Pseudo-villain
Chapter 66 - Private Sale?
The woman opened the door and entered the balcony before going over towards one side and closing the curtain, making it so that nobody else could peek in.
"Didn't I already provide a sample?" Hecathe asked cautiously as he glanced at the woman whose face was covered with a white mask.
The woman nodded her head as she responded, "You have provided us and we have checked but we need to check all hundred mutant beads."
"To ensure that I'm not trying to trick you?" Hecathe frowned as he questioned and the woman nodded her head without any sense of hesitation as she confirmed.
"Hundred mutant beads is no small amount so we have to be extra careful," She explained with her emotionless voice.
"I understand," Hecathe sighed as he took out the hundred mutant beads that were kept in a pouch and carelessly handed them over to the woman.
The woman gulped as her eyes widened ever so slightly. She took the mutant beads and sat down in front of Hecathe as she started individually checking the quality of each one of them.
Hecathe didn't care too much as he casually looked at the mutant beads being checked. He had personally ordered the mutants to kill themselves and had collected their mutant bead so he was more than confident with the quality of every mutant bead that made up the hundred mutant beads that were ready to be sold to the auction house.
"I wonder what is going to happen to these?" Hecathe asked as he looked at the woman but it didn't seem as if he was looking to find an answer, however, the woman was still polite enough to respond.
"Since you sold it to the auction house, these mutant beads would also be sold to the highest paying customer."
"Eh?" Hecathe tilted his head in amusement as he heard something that was a bit off, "You said they would be sold to the highest paying customer?"
The woman nodded her head as she continued doing her work and checked the mutant beads thoroughly.
"But you didn't say they would be sold to the highest bidder."
"..." The woman was silent this time and Hecathe couldn't help but find himself a little interested in the topic as he asked.
"Could it be that you guys have already made a deal with someone? A private sale?"
The woman sighed as she shook her head and spoke, "I cannot reveal that."
"That means I'm right," Hecathe stated confidently with a chuckle.
This black market was a bit special and the auction wasn't the only way for people to sell and buy stuff here. A private sale was another less famous method.
Hecathe first thought the hundred mutant beads he had sold to the auction house would end up as a bidding item, however, after listening to the woman, he realized that the auction house had other plans for the hundred mutant beads. Instead of selling them individually, they were all planned to be sold together to a customer who had already offered to pay the highest price for them.
"How much?" Hecathe asked with an amused smirk, "I don't think you guys are selling it for just ten trillion Lenix."
The woman sighed as she responded, "I am not authorized to answer that question."
"Then let me guess," Hecathe commented casually, "It's probably that guy who tried to cause some problem with me, right?"
The woman blinked in surprise as she snapped her head up and looked at the man in shock, "H-How did you know that?"
Hecathe chuckled as he responded, "It wasn't hard to guess. He was the one who tried to force me to sell the mutant beads to the auction house so that I can bid for the egg with money. I had realized then that he was interested in the undamaged mutant beads. Moreover, when the bidding for the special item began, surprisingly enough, he didn't place a bid."
The woman gulped as she heard Hecathe's logic.
"When you pay attention to things and think about them for a bit, it isn't hard to figure everything out," Hecathe added proudly as he asked, "He didn't place a bid for the special item because you guys already promised him these hundred mutant beads, isn't that right?"
The woman was silent once again as she thought about how to answer Hecathe.
"Are you going to tell me that you are not even authorized to give me a nod?" Hecathe smirked as he questioned and the woman reluctantly shook her head before stopping and giving him a nod as she confirmed that his guess had indeed been correct.
"Sir, may I ask you how you found these hundred undamaged mutant beads?" The woman asked as she looked at Hecathe.
Hecathe simply shrugged his shoulder as he replied, "That was also not hard. I'm a hunter. Isn't hunting mutant beads my job?"
The woman didn't seem to have believed this answer but by saying this, Hecathe had clearly stated that he was not interested in revealing the truth and since it was like this, the woman also didn't bother asking anything more as she nodded her head and got back to work.
"But since you have asked me this question, let me also ask you something as well," Hecathe spoke up, "How did you guys find the Dorgon egg?"
"..."
Dorgon eggs were very rare and hard to find, however, it was truly a wonder how one of them ended up in this auction house since the Dorgon Eggs were mostly safeguarded by their parents.
Alphius's father, the great Edler had also tried to steal a Dorgon Egg but he had thoroughly failed as the Dorgon mother killed him in an instant.
Dorgon's were creatures that were highly protective over their offspring since a mother Dorgon could only lay one egg in her entire lifetime.
This was also part of the reason why their population was declining so much in recent years.
"Where are the parents?" Hecathe questioned as he carefully looked to notice any changes that might be displayed on the woman's expressions.
"Didn't I already provide a sample?" Hecathe asked cautiously as he glanced at the woman whose face was covered with a white mask.
