The Legendary Pseudo-villain
Chapter 83 - Catching A Whale
"You can say that," Hecathe shrugged his shoulder as he responded, "It's actually a big fish that is very good at hiding, deceiving, and stealing."
"Did it steal something from you?" Zather asked with a smirk on her face as she finally started understanding a bit of the actual topic.
"It stole something and returned it as it was," Hecathe spoke as he informed, "But then it just had to go and piss me off by creating a bit of trouble."
"Is that so?" Zather chuckled as she asked, "Then how do you plan on baiting the fish?"
Hecathe smiled as he pointed at the meat and spoke, "With a big dead fish."
"Baiting a fish with another fish?" Zather tilted her head with a bit of confusion.
"A dead fish can't do anything, so I need the dead fish to be alive."
Zather frowned as her eyes narrowed down on Hecathe in suspicion, "How do you plan on reviving the dead fish?"
"By making a fake fish," Hecathe chuckled as he replied, "Since the fish is dead, we can't revive it, but we can always plant a fake one and act as if it's the same fish."
"So you want me to bring you a fake fish?" Zather asked curiously as she looked at the man.
Hecathe shook his head as a response, "We already have a fake fish. We just need to layout the trap and spread the word."
"The word...?" Zather repeated as she thought about it deeply before asking, "You want to spread the word about the dead fish coming back to life?"
Hecathe nodded his head as he confirmed it, "That's right. We need to spread the word and inform the big bad fish that the dead fish is still alive."
"And you're sure this is going to work?" Zather frowned as she asked, "What if the fish finds out that it's a lie and doesn't fall for it?"
Hecathe chuckled as he heard this question and tapped his head as he replied, "Fishes are dumb. They'll believe whatever you want them to believe."
Zather smirked in amusement as she heard this and asked, "Then what if this fish is actually a smart whale?"
"Then we outsmart the whale."
"..." Zather looked to be amused and a bit surprised to hear Hecathe, "You've changed."
Hecathe smirked as he looked at the woman and asked, "Have I?"
Zather nodded her head with a chuckle as she spoke, "You were never even interested in those fishes but now you even plan on trapping them with such an elaborate plan. I can't really put my finger on it but I can feel it. You've really changed."
"Isn't change natural?" Hecathe shrugged his shoulder as he added, "Change can be natural and good."
"It can. That's why I'm still trusting you," Zather responded as she nodded in turn, "If it weren't for my trust in you and your change, I would have long thought that you were an imposter."
Hecathe smiled as he heard this but his feelings and thoughts could really not be deciphered from his outward demeanor.
Zather smiled as she suddenly hugged him and leaned in closer to his ear as she whispered, "So whose the dead fish?"
"Orgon," Hecathe smirked as he whispered back.
"And the fake one?"
"Me, of course." Hecathe didn't miss a beat as he responded.
Zather pulled away with a chuckle, acting casual as she did, "In that case let me help you."
"For free?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked.
"Of course, not."
Hecathe pursed his lips into a thin smile as he heard this response that was to be expected.
"Not for free, but for a discount. Since you've finally learned to stand up for yourself, take it as a coming-of-age gift from me," Zather added with a chuckle.
"..."
"You can pay me after the work is done," Zather winked as she turned around and left the place.
Hecathe nodded and couldn't help but want to laugh as he turned to look at the meat that was being cut up by the butcher.
As expected, that woman was sharp. Alphius was certainly not wrong to win her over as an ally. If she were not an ally then she would have certainly made a formidable foe.
There was no doubt about it. She had seen through Hecathe, but it seemed that she was still not completely sure whether Hecathe was really a different soul or not. Since she was unsure, she would act as if there was nothing wrong.
Even Zather hadn't realized that Hecathe was not Alphius so it really made the man wonder how Marvin had been able to tell him apart within a single minute.
The butcher took a few more minutes until the meat was finally ready to be sold.
"There you go, young man. Ten kilograms of Chicken meat," The owner announced as she handed over the heavy bag to Hecathe, "That would be four thousand Lenix."
Hecathe sighed as he heard that rate and asked, "After being doubled for foreigners?"
The woman chuckled as she nodded her head and explained, "There is nothing we can do about it. It's the law."
Such an unfriendly law was certainly a bit funny, however, Hecathe who was forced to pay double the price for everything certainly didn't want to laugh.
Thankfully enough, Kelly had paid two million in cash yesterday so Hecathe had a lot of cash to spend.
Hecathe took out exactly four thousand Lenix and handed them over to the woman before taking out another thousand and giving it to her as he spoke, "Let's not sell fishes."
The woman smiled as she took the extra thousand and nodded her head in understanding.
"We sell all types of meat but we don't sell fishes and we can assure you that, Sir!" The woman beamed as she reassured Hecathe that his conversation with Zather was going to be kept a secret.
Hecathe smiled in satisfaction as he headed back to his apartment and went up to his room to feed the little Dorgon that was waiting for him to come back.
The ten kilograms of meat was supposed to last for a week or at least three days, but unfortunately, in front of the hungry Dorgon, it lasted for only a day.
"Did it steal something from you?" Zather asked with a smirk on her face as she finally started understanding a bit of the actual topic.
"It stole something and returned it as it was," Hecathe spoke as he informed, "But then it just had to go and piss me off by creating a bit of trouble."
