The Legendary Pseudo-villain
Chapter 96 - I'm Interested In Your...
"Aren't you going to ask me why I was looking for you?" Hecathe asked as he crouched down and looked up to see her face.
When he saw her face, he was a hundred percent sure that she was terrified of him since she actually looked as if she had seen a ghost.
"S-sir... I'm really sorry. Please forgive me," The girl apologized once again and Hecathe sighed as he stood up and patted her head.
"I keep telling you that your 'sorry' is useless to me," Hecathe clicked his tongue as he spoke, "What I am interested in is your powers."
"Eh...?" It took the girl a whole minute to respond in confusion and shock, but even after repeating Hecathe's words in her mind, she was still unable to understand what he was trying to say.
Hecathe smiled as he saw the girl finally lifting her head to look up at him, "Do you want me to repeat myself? I said I'm interested in your ability. I'm a member of the golden fire guild. Would you like to discuss your ability after this?"
The girl gulped as she looked at him blankly.
A whole minute passed and she opened her mouth to give him a response, however, her eyes widened as she noticed something behind Hecathe and immediately changed her words as she tried to warn the man, "Sir, look out!"
Hecathe smiled thinly as he heard this and even before the girl had shouted the warning, he had already blocked the chair leg as he grasped onto it tightly.
The man didn't even bother turning around as he kept his eyes on the girl and asked once again, "Would you like to come to our guild?"
The old man who had tried to attack Hecathe by surprise got himself in a sticky situation as Hecathe easily blocked his blow and from the calm demeanor that Hecathe showed, the old man was sure that they were not dealing with just any normal hunter here.
So the first thing that the old man tried to do was run away, even being ready to abandon his partner who was still suffering on the ground, however, the man's plan to run away failed almost immediately as he was stopped by the gambling monkey who smirked as he looked at the old man and spoke, "You dare lie to me and trick me? Give me back my ring before you go, old pig!"
The man naturally didn't listen to him and compared to Hecathe, this stupid monkey looked to be easier to beat, and hence the old man tried to get out of here through a fight, however, before he could attack the monkey, the monkey attacked first and knocked him out with a punch.
"Ignore them and answer me," Hecathe smiled as he spoke, looking at the girl expectantly.
The girl gulped as she nodded her head ever so slightly and finally replied, "I'll be there."
The man had just offered her a guild invitation and such things were not easy to get. Guilds only took in members through their official forms and unless a mage had a high rank in the guild, he or she would not be casually able to recommend any random person that they had met on the street.
Looking at Hecathe's confidence and considering the fact that the man was casually inviting her to the guild made the girl think that Hecathe was a high-ranking mage from the golden fire guild.
Hecathe smiled happily as he heard this and nodded his head as he spoke, "Good idea."
The man didn't waste any more time on the girl as he turned around to see that the two old men were already on the ground. One still suffering from the injury that Hecathe had caused him while the other was laying there, knocked out by the monkey.
"Hmm... Good job," Hecathe blinked in surprise as he muttered, glancing at the monkey.
The monkey glared back at the man and stepped closer as he questioned rather rudely, "Who the hell are you?!"
"Didn't I just say that I was a member of the golden fire?" Hecathe raised his eyebrows as he asked back instead of giving a straight answer.
"Who are you and why do you want to take the wedding ring?!" The monkey rephrased his question and asked, still sounding just as rude as he was when he asked the previous question.
Hecathe sighed as he responded, "Do I need a reason to return a ring that was gambled off by a monkey without the owner's permission?"
"..." The man who was being referred to as a monkey this whole time took a whole minute to understand what Hecathe had said and just as he did, he felt offended and it was to be expected considering the fact that normally people wouldn't like to be referred to as monkeys.
"You bastard, how is it any of your concern what I do or don't do with my father's wedding ring?!"
Hecathe chuckled as he heard this and once again didn't give a straight answer to the man as he questioned, "Didn't you say it was your grandfather?"
"He's old enough to be my grandfather so I call him grandfather! I can call him whatever I want, It has nothing to do with you!"
Hecathe nodded his head as he heard this and spoke, "You're right. You can call him whatever you like and it has nothing to do with me but do you think I care if it has anything to do with me or not?"
"..."
Hecathe held his palm out in front as he demanded, "Give me the ring. Even if it has nothing to do with me, I still don't want to see it being gambled off by a dumb monkey."
The monkey gritted his teeth as he heard this and simply shook his head as he refused, even going as far as to hide the ring behind his back.
Hecathe couldn't help but chuckle as he saw this and asked, "Are you sure that you don't want to obediently hand it over?"
When he saw her face, he was a hundred percent sure that she was terrified of him since she actually looked as if she had seen a ghost.
