Chapter 6: Divine Intervention

“I, my mother passed away and was left to fend for myself on the estate. If I don’t find a way to learn how to survive on my own, won’t I be at the mercy of others? Your Highness, don’t worry about where I acquired my medical skills. Just trust that I can heal your leg,” Gu Yunru thought about it for a while and decided to reveal only half of the truth, leaving the other half for him to speculate.

As the younger brother of the emperor and a renowned war god, Prince Zhao  naturally understood the feeling of struggling to survive. Letting him speculate his own situation wouldn’t it be more fitting than thousands of words? Moreover, since he had been unable to heal his leg all this time, now that she had promised to do so, she believed no one could resist the temptation of being able-bodied.

Sure enough, after a moment, Prince Zhao  slowly released his grip on her and reached for a token from his person, throwing it to her. He spoke coldly, “Qingfeng, escort her back. Starting tomorrow, come to the Zhao Wang Mansion to treat my leg.”

Gu Yunru knew that her ordeal was over, and since he had promised to let her treat him, the matter of dissolving the engagement might be resolved as well.

Qingfeng had been ordered by Rong Zhen to escort Gu Yunru back to the Gu mansion, but Gu Yunru knew that he was not just protecting her, but also trying to find out if she was really who she claimed to be.

At this moment, Madam Gu came out of the main hall and saw Gu Yunru and Gu Junyao quarreling again. She hurried forward and scolded, “What’s wrong with you two? You’re still arguing outside. Does the Gu family still care about its reputation?”

Today, she was already angry and humiliated by Cheng Shaoyuan’s rejection, and now she was punished for meeting with a man in secret. How could she swallow this anger?

“Gu Junyue! Didn’t I tell you to keep a good eye on mother? Why was she discovered by mother? You are simply incapable of doing anything right!” Gu Junyao glared at Gu Junyue in anger, gritting her teeth.
