The Mafia's Rose Married The CEO

Chapter 232 - One Last Stop

Feng Xuan watched as the events unfolded right before her eyes. Two men at the pits, fighting like animals, people in the higher seats screaming their lungs out with thick wads of bills clutched in their hands.

She had no right to judge these people, she wanted to tell herself. She didn't want to be a hypocrite. There she was standing there, a woman who had ended multiple lives. A murderer.

Qing Chen raised a bottle for her. In all fairness, it was an expensive one. She uncapped it and gulped down. "I don't think this would get any better even with alcohol."

"It doesn't," Qing Chen answered her. "Sit for a while. This would be over soon."

Feng Xuan felt her stomach twisted. It was not over soon. Although both bloodied and beyond recognizable, neither of the two men on the rink was giving up. The place smelled of sweat and blood. It lasted around fifteen more minutes before it all ended.

The winner's red fist was raised in the air as he was declared a winner. Qing Chen stood up and Feng Xuan followed.

"How many of these Enigma own?" she asked.

"Just this one." Qing Chen took her hand and squeezed reassuringly. "We have horse tracks too. I was going to take you there but they are closed at this time."

Feng Xuan nodded, feeling her head swim a little. "Where are we going next?"

"We're moving out of here," he said.

**

While they were in the car, Feng Xuan had wondered which other business do Enigma own there in the street under a false name.

They had been in the car for around ten minutes when the entire surroundings suddenly turned dark. It was like one of those roads you see on horror movies. It was as if the pavement itself was telling you to turn back. There were not even lampposts in the area.

She felt a creeping feeling in her gut. "What are we doing here?" she asked him when she saw the huge silhouettes on either side of them. The metal fences rose up and glinted against the headlights. "Why are we in the dump?

Qing Chen turned the air conditioner off. "Because this is where we ship our products."

"Garbage disposals?"

Qing Chen nodded at her. Feng Xuan started to question herself and her knowledge with the mafia matters. What had she missed? Should she have done a research? Or her father did not tell her enough?

"We'll just pop in and leave. I hate this place."

Feng Xuan nibbled on her inner cheek. Do they collect metals and sell them into junk shops? But that did not really earn enough money.

Finally, a clearing emerged and a small facility painted in gray showed up in her field of vision. The lights were on and a few cars were parked outside. Wow, cars… in a garbage dump.

They both got out of the car and Feng Xuan immediately covered her nose. "What fishy business is here?"

"You'll see."

The door opened and it was cold inside the building. It was also clean and everything was white. There was a room made of glass in the middle with tiled tables and electric weighing scales. There were huge plastics of multi-colored pills, in boxes… and boxes… and boxes of it.

Feng Xuan's hand dropped to her side as she walked closer to the glass, admitting that she was mesmerized for a moment.

"This is where the mafia got most of its money," Qing Chen stepped next to her. "We distribute these pills all over Chengshi and the neighboring cities."

"All that? For just this city?"

"It's a party drug. Around two decades ago, father had already dropped the major drugs and kept things simple. That's the reason why high-end drugs are even more expensive in this city, because it's rare. Because we are the only major dealer here."

"Is the garbage meant to hide this?"

"No, the garbage is used as a courier. It lets us transport these easier."

"You're not manufacturing?"

Qing Chen sighed. "Enigma had been heavily involved in drugs especially when it was just starting. It was not just something you can really avoid when you're in this business. It brings a lot of money. It had been the main source of income but as soon as it started legalizing the businesses, Enigma shed it off one by one."

"Who's supplying?"

"All the way in the Southwest. He's called La Hiena."

Feng Xuan turned to Qing Chen. "Did Enigma dealt arms too?"

Qing Chen nodded. "But it's not really a lucrative business here. Arms dealing mainly profit in wars. And we don't have that."

She slowly nodded her head, her brain still not fully wrapped around with all the information she got tonight. "Is this everything?"

Qing Chen held his hand out to her. "One last stop."

**

They got back in the car and it was a longer ride and their surrounding turned modern. They were almost back to the city. The neighborhood was quiet.

Feng Xuan found herself smiling again. Finally, something normal. "Will I see something disturbing here?"

Qing Chen was not still smiling when he answered. "A thing or two."

They walked towards the house and the door was opened for them. A couple of men were lounging in the porch. "Hello, boss," they both nodded to Qing Chen.

"This is Clown," Qing Chen introduced. "He's one of our most trusted."

"Mrs. Qing," an answered the tall man in front of her.

Feng Xuan held out her hand. She gasped silently when some light showered Clown's face. He had scars on his cheeks. Now that's a mafia member. She was officially meeting a gangster!! Like, in the very essence of it—rugged, dirty, and scarred.

"Pleased to meet you, Clown."

"Should I give you a tour?"

Qing Chen shook his head. "We got it from here."

Clown politely nodded and stepped off.

When they got in, Feng Xuan grinned.
