“Re, Rebbe…….”

“What are you guys?”

“Is your sister Rebecca?”

“Sister?”

Rebecca’s eyes widened at Eisel’s blunt question, but she quickly smiled.     Rebecca nodded and bent her knees.

“Yes, my sister is Rebecca.     Who are you?”

“I’m Eisel, and I thought you might need my help.”

“Help?”

Eisel nodded and pointed to Milju.

Rebecca tilted her head and Eisel smirked.

“Sooner or later, you’ll need to make a lot of wheat wine, and you can call me then.”

Eisel held out a hastily made business card.     When Rebecca narrowed her eyes at the name and address on the card, Eisel turned away, as if her work had been done.

“Hey…….”

Randall got up and called Rebecca’s name, but she stepped forward, ignoring his voice.

“What do you want?”

“Yes.     That’s all.”

“Well, I’m afraid she won’t need your help, then.     She already has a place to get her supplies.”

“I know, but I’m sure she’ll need it, so take care of it, and I’ll be off.”

Even with Rebecca’s words, Eisel smiled and said her final goodbyes.     Lancia, who was hiding behind her back, tugged at the collar of her robe, urging her to leave.

“Let’s go, Lancia.”

Aizel nodded and took Lancia’s hand.     After watching them stare at each other without saying anything, Rebecca lowered her business card and asked, “Do you need a ride?”

But Eisel shook her head no and turned away completely, and then, as if on cue, the sound of a chair being pulled away.

The dozen or so people who had risen from the ground moved wordlessly behind Eisel, all wrapped in cloaks.

Swords were visible through cloaks that swayed as they walked.     Rebecca followed Eisel’s silent departure with her eyes, then glanced down at the business card.

[Agricultural cooperative]

“What is this writing about?”

Rebecca, who didn’t recognize the cooperative, saw the name and address, “Eisel Letania Aspencer,” beneath a cursive phrase in illegible letters.     Noble after all?

“Rebecca……!”

Rebecca shoved the business card into the mouth of the man who was speaking to her and turned away.

Only the regular clinking of the clocks echoed in the large room.     Sipping her sweet tea and glancing at Belen, who sat before her, Eisel checked her watch to see how much time had passed.

Five minutes already.

Eisel, who had learned that Belen was looking for him, still hadn’t heard the reason for his summons.

Eisel, who was in Belen’s good graces, bided his time and waited for Belen to speak first.

Fortunately, Eisel’s prayers were answered, and Belen’s lips parted with spittle.

“Let me ask you something straightforward.”

Belen lowered his glasses and looked at Eisel.

“Who are you?”

“What?”

Who are you?

Eisel felt her heart drop like a stone at Belen’s words.     Anyone else would have laughed at what she said, but not Eisel.     At least not Eisel, because she was different.

Belen narrowed her eyes at Aizel’s blank stare.

“At first, I thought you were unique, and after a while, I thought you had a better head on your shoulders than most.     However, after this test, that assessment has changed.     To freak.”

A freak.     What kind of mutant? When Eisel blinked instead of answering, Belen flipped his upper body over and leaned back in his chair.

“What were you thinking?”

Belen dangled in front of Eisel the test and answer sheet from the exam day.     There was nothing out of the ordinary, but the problem lay elsewhere.

“Why did you do the test correctly and write the wrong answer on the answer sheet?”

The answers to the test and the answer sheet were different.     One or two were mistakes, but I assumed they were intentional.

“Is this why the test paper was taken away?”

Eisel couldn’t believe that Belén, who didn’t have enough time for research, would go through her students’ test papers.

“Why did you do that?”

The reason was simple.     She didn’t need attention.     There was no reason to go through all the children’s tests yet.     There was no money in it, and there were no benefits.

Besides, she didn’t want to be the only one who was exceptionally proficient when everyone around her said the tests were challenging.

Therefore, she intentionally wrote different answers to questions to adjust her score.     However, in the process, she realized that writing the answers to the test paper was a problem.

‘It’s a nuisance to the examinee.’

Eisel swallowed an inward sigh and forced a smile on his face.

“I should have been more careful.”

“Careful?”

“You know, there are many nobles who look down on you for being a fallen noble, or a noble without power, or a poor noble.     And there are some, like Raven, who don’t say it out loud, but subtly.     So I had to be careful.”

“Are you saying you lowered yourself on purpose?”

“Yes.”

When Eiael nodded obediently, Belen narrowed his eyes.     He set his jaw, as if pondering something, and after a moment to gather his thoughts, he looked at Aizel.

“Who made you do this?”

“No.”

“Then you did it because Eisel thought of it?”

“Yes.”

“You’re an oddball.”

Belén laughed in disbelief at Eisel’s answer.     Eisel leaned forward and tilted her head at an angle.     She watched Belen lean back in her chair and stare wordlessly up at the ceiling.

“By the way, does that matter? I’m sorry if you didn’t like my attitude, and I apologize.”

“No, it’s not like that.     If it was any other student, I would have thought he ignored me.     However, since it was Eisel, I figured there had to be a reason, so I asked.”

Her voice drifted like a cloud.     Aizel was surprised to realize that Belen thought highly of him.

After all, they hadn’t had much interaction, except for the first book.     They hadn’t talked much, so it was difficult to imagine him thinking well of her.

“Eisel.”

Belen, who had been staring up at the ceiling, turned to look at Eisel with an open call.     Aizel’s eyes, glued to the table, lifted to meet Belen’s.     Silver-haired, red eyes.     Belen remained silent for a long moment, staring into Eisel’s face, a face not easily forgotten once seen.

Suddenly, Eisel remembered why she had run away from Basquiella and become a sea-going archmage.

“Rebel.

A group of people disillusioned with an empire that discriminated against commoners more than others.     To uphold the late Emperor’s bastard son and make him Emperor.     Velen was its leader.

“You don’t have to sit there and force yourself to take lessons.     I’ll teach you Eisel if you want so.”

That means.

“Would you like to be my disciple?”

It was like asking Eisel to rebel.

The carriage stopped in front of the mansion.     The door opened and Lancia, who was riding inside, dismounted, dressed in her finery.

Lancia stopped at the mansion’s door, checked her clothes, and knocked on the door.     It wasn’t long before Aizel, wearing a light dress, poked her head out.

“Huh?”

“Eisel, what are you doing here?”

Eisel looked up and down at Lancia, who had arrived unannounced.     Her gaze dropped to her shoes, and she tilted her head back up to meet Lancia’s smiling face.

“Why are you at home?”

“That’s not what I’m asking.     I’m asking why you’re at home when everyone else enjoys the festivities! Come with me.     I’ve got your outfit ready, Aizel!”

Lancia giggled as she pointed to the carriage.     Eisel’s specially tailored outfit was hanging in the carriage.     Lancia imagined walking side-by-side with Eisel through the capital in those clothes.

Watching the festivities with friends was something she’d never done! Lancia was more critical than anything else.

But Eisel, seemingly unconcerned by such things, looked at Lancia’s face and pouted her lips in disappointment.

“I’m sorry, but that’s going to be challenging.”

“What? Why?”

Lancia’s eyes widened at the sudden rejection, assuming Eisel would come with her.

The festival was more crowded than ever.     It was twice as long as the annual festival, and the number of participants was staggering: people from all over the world crowding the capital and filling the air with laughter every day.

Commoners and nobles alike enjoyed the festival, but why?

At Lancia’s surprised look, Eisel rolled her eyes and slid open another door.     Lancia stuck her head through the open door and peered inside.

“……What’s all that?”

There was a large, empty room with a small desk and a stack of papers on either side of it.     Lancia, dizzy by the sheer volume of paperwork, looked at Eisel frowning.

“Eisel?”

“It’s a contract.”

“A contract?”

Eisel nodded briefly.     She’d moved her desk to the mansion entrance and took applications there.     This was thanks to the dozens of prospective buyers who came in every day.

At Lancia’s blank look, Eisel shrugged and said, “It just happens.”
