The Messenger of Death

Chapter 153: glowing shards of glass

"Let's head back, please, let's leave here." Drake pleaded. After seeing the supposed corpse move and speak, he had forgotten the excitement that he got from seeing the energy crystals.

"How did this guy get here? Was he also able to see the runes that were inscribed on the walls of that room?" Alex voiced his thoughts.

"Maybe?" Camron answered.

"If so, how did he become like this? What happened to him?" Adrian asked.

"Did he become like this because he found this room? Or because he touched the treasures here?" Emma turned pale as she thought of the reasons why the man on the floor deformed. They too had touched the treasure here.

"Does that matter now? We should leave this place before we get in the same predicament as the corpse." Drake was anxious as he spoke. He kept on looking around, trying to see if anything was approaching them.

"Hell!! You guys can meet me outside when you're done waiting for something to happen." Drake left them in the position that he found the corpse. He planned on heading back to the hallway that they came from.

He started walking down the treasure room up until he passed the point that they were standing on when the scenery changed from the hallway to the treasure room.

"Why!?" He said anxiously and started looking around for a way back. "Why didn't I appear in the hallway after I passed there!?" He pointed at the spot that they were standing on the moment they found their selves in the treasure room.

"The exit's gone!!" Drake shouted.

The rest of his teammates quickly made their way to where Drake was.

Katherine walked past Drake and continued like that till she reached the wall of the treasure room. She placed her hands on the wall and pushed it. She put all her strength in her push but the wall didn't budge.

"Guys, we are trapped!" Katherine started to panic too. She used her hands to ruffle her hair like a crazy person. "Ahhh!!! Why are we so unlucky!!?" She screamed.

"Hey!? Why are you just panicking now!? You insulted me for being scared of this tomb!" Drake bellowed at Katherine.

"Shut up!! How was I supposed to know that we were going to get trapped?" She retorted.

"Stop panicking, doing that won't help us solve the issue at hand," Alex uttered as he began brainstorming.

['I don't believe there's only one entrance to this place.'] Alex thought.

['I don't know if there's another entrance, but from what the skinny guy on the ground said, for us to run if we wanted to live. From that, I can guess that there's a way out of this place. Perhaps if we walk deeper we'll find out. For now, just focus on storing all that you can in your storage ring, Hahaha.'] Al stated.

It was like Al wasn't affected by their present predicament.

['You never fail to amazingly disgust me with your love for money and good things.'] Alex shook his head.

['Don't act like you won't spend from it. I hate hypocrites the most.'] Al scoffed.

['Even when you are one yourself? Okay, okay. I'll take all that I can.'] Alex agreed to do as he requested.

He raised the hand that had the storage ring on and pointed it at the mountain of blue high-density energy crystals and a whirlpool appeared. The energy crystals were being drawn into his storage ring.

"You still have an appetite to want the things in this room!?" Drake exclaimed when he saw what Alex was doing.

Alex put a finger in his ear and massaged it. "Do you enjoy shouting?" He scowled at Drake. "I told you to quit panicking, there's an exit," Alex stated.

"Really? There's a way out of this place?" Camron asked.

"Yeah, if there wasn't then I wouldn't be this calm. Can't you tell that the air in this room is fresh even when it has no windows? And also, if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of the wind." Alex mentioned and continued taking energy crystals into his ring.

"I suggest that you take all that you can from this room, we'll leave once we have filled our storage devices with the treasures here." He added.

Camron didn't waste any time joining Alex. He too began hoarding what he could into his storage ring, he chose to start with the mountain of gold jewelry and coins.

He trusted Alex that much.

The rest looked at their selves and then looked at Alex and Camron. The calm look that they had on their faces reassured them that there was really a way out of the room. They decided to take what they could too.

While Alex was storing the energy crystals in his ring, he was also looking at his surroundings. From the corner of his eyes, he saw a faint glow in the distance. It was coming from the part of the room that none of his teammates had explored.

He stopped storing the crystals and made his way to where he saw the faint glow coming from. Alex made sure that as he moved closer, he was on alert and cautious.

When he got closer, Alex saw that the glow was coming off pieces of broken glass, or so he thought. The strange thing about this glass was that it was glowing and shaped like a triangle. There were 4 pieces of this strange glass laid on the floor.

He bent his knees and attempted to pick one them up. As soon as his fingers touched one of the glowing glass, the pupils on his eyeballs disappeared. Now his eyes were completely white and glowing too. The same faint glow that came off the glass-like shard that he touched. Alex's body stiffened, it looked like he had turned into a statue…

IN THE LUXURE OCCULT HEADQUARTERS.

Andrea and Arabella had killed a lot of the occult members and at the same time set the people whose decisions were being influenced by the burning pink thread, free.

"Where is the head of your occult?" Arabella held the neck of the last member of the occult that she intentionally left alive. She held the man by the neck and asked for directions.

"If I tell you, will you kill me?" The man questioned trying to find a way to save himself.

"Tell me and I'll let you go," Arabella promised.

The man directed them to a secretive part of the headquarters. The room that they were in was empty.

"Are messing with us?" Arabella asked in an annoyed tone.

"No, no, I'm not. His private space is just behind this wall." The man shivered as he replied.

He walked to the wall opposite the door of the room and pushed a stone that was hidden on the wall. The stone went into the wall and another door different from the one they came in from, opened.

"I swear, he's in there. Let me go, please." He said to Arabella.

She let go of the guy and relief washed over him. He was heading for the exit when Andrea obstructed his way.

"She said that she was going to let you go, but I didn't say anything like that." She tilted her head.

"Please, please. Have mercy on me. I promise to change my ways, I won't-"

-Swish!!

Andrea brought out two steel fans from her storage pouch. The edge of the steel fan was very sharp so it easily sliced the man's head off his neck.

-Thud.

His head dropped to the ground.

"Who dares to come here uninvited!!?" A middle-aged man in a robe made of brown leather stepped out of the door that appeared when the man pushed the stone on the wall.

The man was bald and has a square-shaped face and a Balbo styled beard. The man stood at the same height as Andrea.

"Who the hell are you girls!!??" The man shouted and burped. He looked tipsy.

The man probed into Andrea's and Arabella's core to find out the level of their cultivation.

His eyes cleared and his tipsiness vanished when he found out their cultivation level. It was replaced with anxiety and nervousness. If it was only Arabella then he wouldn't have reacted the way he was reacting. The main issue was Andrea, she was in the same cultivation rank and realm as he was.

"Where did the two of you come from and why did you kill a disciple of my occult?" He spoke with no malice present in his voice.

"Really, you still haven't figured out who we are after seeing our uniform and probing into our cores?" Andrea smirked. "You are the head of this occult so you should have an idea of who or where we came from." She added.

"I am indeed the head of this occult." He frowned and looked at the cloth on the two intruders.

For the second time in the space of minutes, his anxiety was triggered.

"The two of you are from the Severance academy?" He asked as began taking steps back into his private room.

"Yes we are." Andrea answered and followed him into the room.

Arabella followed behind…
